ਚਰਣ ਤਲੈ ਉਗਾਹਿ ਬੈਸਿਓ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਨ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥
चरण तलै उगाहि बैसिओ स्रमु न रहिओ सरीरि ॥
Cẖaraṇ ṯalai ugāhi baisi▫o saram na rahi▫o sarīr.
He plants his feet in the boat, and then sits down in it; the fatigue of his body is relieved.

ਮਹਾ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਨਹ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਖਿਨਹਿ ਉਤਰਿਓ ਤੀਰਿ ॥੨॥
महा सागरु नह विआपै खिनहि उतरिओ तीरि ॥२॥
Mahā sāgar nah vi▫āpai kẖinėh uṯri▫o ṯīr. ||2||
The great ocean does not even affect him; in an instant, he arrives on the other shore. ||2||
|
ਚੰਦਨ ਅਗਰ ਕਪੂਰ ਲੇਪਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਗੇ ਨਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
चंदन अगर कपूर लेपन तिसु संगे नही प्रीति ॥
Cẖanḏan agar kapūr lepan ṯis sange nahī parīṯ.
Sandalwood, aloe, and camphor-paste - the earth does not love them.

ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮੂਤ੍ਰ ਖੋਦਿ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਮਨੀ ਬਿਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
बिसटा मूत्र खोदि तिलु तिलु मनि न मनी बिपरीति ॥३॥
Bistā mūṯar kẖoḏ ṯil ṯil man na manī biprīṯ. ||3||
But it doesn't mind, if someone digs it up bit by bit, and applies manure and urine to it. ||3||

ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੰਲਗਨ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਛਤ੍ਰ ॥
ऊच नीच बिकार सुक्रित संलगन सभ सुख छत्र ॥
Ūcẖ nīcẖ bikār sukariṯ saʼnlgan sabẖ sukẖ cẖẖaṯar.
High and low, bad and good - the comforting canopy of the sky stretches evenly over all.

ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਨ ਕਛੂ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਅ ਸਮਤ ॥੪॥
मित्र सत्रु न कछू जानै सरब जीअ समत ॥४॥
Miṯar saṯar na kacẖẖū jānai sarab jī▫a samaṯ. ||4||
It knows nothing of friend and enemy; all beings are alike to it. ||4||

ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥
करि प्रगासु प्रचंड प्रगटिओ अंधकार बिनास ॥
Kar pargās parcẖand pargati▫o anḏẖkār binās.
Blazing with its dazzling light, the sun rises, and dispels the darkness.

ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਅਪਵਿਤ੍ਰਹ ਕਿਰਣ ਲਾਗੇ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਭਇਓ ਬਿਖਾਦੁ ॥੫॥
पवित्र अपवित्रह किरण लागे मनि न भइओ बिखादु ॥५॥
Paviṯar apviṯrėh kiraṇ lāge man na bẖa▫i▫o bikẖāḏ. ||5||
Touching both the pure and the impure, it harbors no hatred to any. ||5||

ਸੀਤ ਮੰਦ ਸੁਗੰਧ ਚਲਿਓ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਨ ਸਮਾਨ ॥
सीत मंद सुगंध चलिओ सरब थान समान ॥
Sīṯ manḏ suganḏẖ cẖali▫o sarab thān samān.
The cool and fragrant wind gently blows upon all places alike.

ਜਹਾ ਸਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਹਾ ਲਾਗਿਓ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਸੰਕਾ ਮਾਨ ॥੬॥
जहा सा किछु तहा लागिओ तिलु न संका मान ॥६॥
Jahā sā kicẖẖ ṯahā lāgi▫o ṯil na sankā mān. ||6||
Wherever anything is, it touches it there, and does not hesitate a bit. ||6||
|
ਸੁਭਾਇ ਅਭਾਇ ਜੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਆਵੈ ਸੀਤੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
सुभाइ अभाइ जु निकटि आवै सीतु ता का जाइ ॥
Subẖā▫e abẖā▫e jo nikat āvai sīṯ ṯā kā jā▫e.
Good or bad, whoever comes close to the fire - his cold is taken away.

ਆਪ ਪਰ ਕਾ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥੭॥
आप पर का कछु न जाणै सदा सहजि सुभाइ ॥७॥
Āp par kā kacẖẖ na jāṇai saḏā sahj subẖā▫e. ||7||
It knows nothing of its own or others'; it is constant in the same quality. ||7||

ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਸਨਾਥ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਲਾਲ ॥
चरण सरण सनाथ इहु मनु रंगि राते लाल ॥
Cẖaraṇ saraṇ sanāth ih man rang rāṯe lāl.
Whoever seeks the Sanctuary of the feet of the Sublime Lord - his mind is attuned to the Love of the Beloved.

ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਤ ਗਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥੮॥੩॥
गोपाल गुण नित गाउ नानक भए प्रभ किरपाल ॥८॥३॥
Gopāl guṇ niṯ gā▫o Nānak bẖa▫e parabẖ kirpāl. ||8||3||
Constantly singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the World, O Nanak, God becomes merciful to us. ||8||3||

ਚਾਦਨਾ ਚਾਦਨੁ ਆਂਗਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਾਦਨਾ ॥੧॥
चादना चादनु आंगनि प्रभ जीउ अंतरि चादना ॥१॥
Cẖāḏnā cẖāḏan āʼngan parabẖ jī▫o anṯar cẖāḏnā. ||1||
Moonlight, moonlight - in the courtyard of the mind, let the moonlight of God shine down. ||1||

ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਅਰਾਧਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ॥੨॥
आराधना अराधनु नीका हरि हरि नामु अराधना ॥२॥
Ārāḏẖnā arāḏẖan nīkā har har nām arāḏẖanā. ||2||
Meditation, meditation - sublime is meditation on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||

ਤਿਆਗਨਾ ਤਿਆਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਨਾ ॥੩॥
तिआगना तिआगनु नीका कामु क्रोधु लोभु तिआगना ॥३॥
Ŧi▫āganā ṯi▫āgan nīkā kām kroḏẖ lobẖ ṯi▫āganā. ||3||
Renunciation, renunciation - noble is the renunciation of sexual desire, anger and greed. ||3||

ਮਾਗਨਾ ਮਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਨਾ ॥੪॥
मागना मागनु नीका हरि जसु गुर ते मागना ॥४॥
Māgnā māgan nīkā har jas gur ṯe māgnā. ||4||
Begging, begging - it is noble to beg for the Lord's Praise from the Guru. ||4||
|
ਜਾਗਨਾ ਜਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਗਨਾ ॥੫॥
जागना जागनु नीका हरि कीरतन महि जागना ॥५॥
Jāgnā jāgan nīkā har kīrṯan mėh jāgnā. ||5||
Vigils, vigils - sublime is the vigil spent singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||5||

ਲਾਗਨਾ ਲਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਨਾ ॥੬॥
लागना लागनु नीका गुर चरणी मनु लागना ॥६॥
Lāgnā lāgan nīkā gur cẖarṇī man lāgnā. ||6||
Attachment, attachment - sublime is the attachment of the mind to the Guru's Feet. ||6||
|
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗਨਾ ॥੭॥
इह बिधि तिसहि परापते जा कै मसतकि भागना ॥७॥
Ih biḏẖ ṯisėh parāpaṯe jā kai masṯak bẖāgnā. ||7||
He alone is blessed with this way of life, upon whose forehead such destiny is recorded. ||7||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਗਨਾ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥
कहु नानक तिसु सभु किछु नीका जो प्रभ की सरनागना ॥८॥१॥४॥
Kaho Nānak ṯis sabẖ kicẖẖ nīkā jo parabẖ kī sarnāganā. ||8||1||4||
Says Nanak, everything is sublime and noble, for one who enters the Sanctuary of God. ||8||1||4||

ਆਉ ਜੀ ਤੂ ਆਉ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਸੁਨਾਵਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
आउ जी तू आउ हमारै हरि जसु स्रवन सुनावना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ā▫o jī ṯū ā▫o hamārai har jas sarvan sunāvanā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Please come, O please come into the home of my heart, that I may hear with my ears the Lord's Praises. ||1||Pause||

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਵਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਾਵਨਾ ॥੧॥
तुधु आवत मेरा मनु तनु हरिआ हरि जसु तुम संगि गावना ॥१॥
Ŧuḏẖ āvaṯ merā man ṯan hari▫ā har jas ṯum sang gāvnā. ||1||
With your coming, my soul and body are rejuvenated, and I sing with you the Lord's Praises. ||1||
|
ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਾਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਮਿਟਾਵਨਾ ॥੨॥
संत क्रिपा ते हिरदै वासै दूजा भाउ मिटावना ॥२॥
Sanṯ kirpā ṯe hirḏai vāsai ḏūjā bẖā▫o mitāvanā. ||2||
By the Grace of the Saint, the Lord dwells within the heart, and the love of duality is eradicated. ||2||
|
ਭਗਤ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਖ ਤਜਾਵਨਾ ॥੩॥
भगत दइआ ते बुधि परगासै दुरमति दूख तजावना ॥३॥
Bẖagaṯ ḏa▫i▫ā ṯe buḏẖ pargāsai ḏurmaṯ ḏūkẖ ṯajāvanā. ||3||
By the kindness of the devotee, the intellect is enlightened, and pain and evil-mindedness are eradicated. ||3||
|
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ਪੁਨਰਪਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਨਾ ॥੪॥
दरसनु भेटत होत पुनीता पुनरपि गरभि न पावना ॥४॥
Ḏarsan bẖetaṯ hoṯ punīṯā punrap garabẖ na pāvnā. ||4||
Beholding the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, one is sanctified, and is no longer consigned to the womb of reincarnation. ||4||
|
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੋ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਨਾ ॥੫॥
नउ निधि रिधि सिधि पाई जो तुमरै मनि भावना ॥५॥
Na▫o niḏẖ riḏẖ siḏẖ pā▫ī jo ṯumrai man bẖāvnā. ||5||
The nine treasures, wealth and miraculous spiritual powers are obtained, by one who is pleasing to Your mind. ||5||
|
ਸੰਤ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਥਾਉ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਸੂਝੈ ਜਾਵਨਾ ॥੬॥
संत बिना मै थाउ न कोई अवर न सूझै जावना ॥६॥
Sanṯ binā mai thā▫o na ko▫ī avar na sūjẖai jāvnā. ||6||
Without the Saint, I have no place of rest at all; I cannot think of any other place to go. ||6||
|
ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਵਨਾ ॥੭॥
मोहि निरगुन कउ कोइ न राखै संता संगि समावना ॥७॥
Mohi nirgun ka▫o ko▫e na rākẖai sanṯā sang samāvanā. ||7||
I am unworthy; no one gives me sanctuary. But in the Society of the Saints, I merge in God. ||7||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਚਲਤੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਧੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਵਨਾ ॥੮॥੨॥੫॥
कहु नानक गुरि चलतु दिखाइआ मन मधे हरि हरि रावना ॥८॥२॥५॥
Kaho Nānak gur cẖalaṯ ḏikẖā▫i▫ā man maḏẖe har har rāvnā. ||8||2||5||
Says Nanak, the Guru has revealed this miracle; within my mind, I enjoy the Lord, Har, Har. ||8||2||5||
