ਕਿਤੀ ਚਖਉ ਸਾਡੜੇ ਕਿਤੀ ਵੇਸ ਕਰੇਉ ॥
किती चखउ साडड़े किती वेस करेउ ॥
Kiṯī cẖakẖa▫o sādṛe kiṯī ves kare▫o.
Though I may taste good many relishes and wear good many dresses,
|
ਪਿਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਬਾਦਿ ਗਇਅਮੁ ਵਾਢੀ ਝੂਰੇਦੀ ਝੂਰੇਉ ॥੫॥
पिर बिनु जोबनु बादि गइअमु वाढी झूरेदी झूरेउ ॥५॥
Pir bin joban bāḏ ga▫i▫am vādẖī jẖūreḏī jẖūre▫o. ||5||
but without my groom my youth is passing away, in vain and I, the separated one, am greatly regretting.

ਸਚੇ ਸੰਦਾ ਸਦੜਾ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
सचे संदा सदड़ा सुणीऐ गुर वीचारि ॥
Sacẖe sanḏā saḏ▫ṛā suṇī▫ai gur vīcẖār.
Reflecting on the Guru's counsel, hear I the message of the True Lord.

ਸਚੇ ਸਚਾ ਬੈਹਣਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੬॥
सचे सचा बैहणा नदरी नदरि पिआरि ॥६॥
Sacẖe sacẖā baihṇā naḏrī naḏar pi▫ār. ||6||
True is the Throne of the True one and it is through the mercy of the Merciful Master that Divine love has welled up in me.

ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਸਚ ਕਾ ਡੇਖੈ ਡੇਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
गिआनी अंजनु सच का डेखै डेखणहारु ॥
Gi▫ānī anjan sacẖ kā dekẖai dekẖaṇhār.
The divine applies the salve of truth to his eyes and sees God, the seer.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
गुरमुखि बूझै जाणीऐ हउमै गरबु निवारि ॥७॥
Gurmukẖ būjẖai jāṇī▫ai ha▫umai garab nivār. ||7||
He, who by Guru's grace, stills his ego and pride, comes to understand and know the Lord.
|
ਤਉ ਭਾਵਨਿ ਤਉ ਜੇਹੀਆ ਮੂ ਜੇਹੀਆ ਕਿਤੀਆਹ ॥
तउ भावनि तउ जेहीआ मू जेहीआ कितीआह ॥
Ŧa▫o bẖāvan ṯa▫o jehī▫ā mū jehī▫ā kiṯī▫āh.
My Master, Thou loves those who are like Thee. Too many are there like me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਛੁੜੈ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੈ ਰਤੜੀਆਹ ॥੮॥੧॥੯॥
नानक नाहु न वीछुड़ै तिन सचै रतड़ीआह ॥८॥१॥९॥
Nānak nāhu na vīcẖẖuṛai ṯin sacẖai raṯ▫ṛī▫āh. ||8||1||9||
Nanak, the Groom parts not company with those who are imbued with His true love.

Maru 1st Guru.

ਨਾ ਭੈਣਾ ਭਰਜਾਈਆ ਨਾ ਸੇ ਸਸੁੜੀਆਹ ॥
ना भैणा भरजाईआ ना से ससुड़ीआह ॥
Nā bẖaiṇā bẖarjā▫ī▫ā nā se sasuṛī▫āh.
Neither remain stable the sisters, nor sisters-in-law nor the mothers-in-law.
|
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਕੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸਹੀਆਹ ॥੧॥
सचा साकु न तुटई गुरु मेले सहीआह ॥१॥
Sacẖā sāk na ṯut▫ī gur mele sahī▫ās. ||1||
But O maids, the true relationship with the Lord, established by the Guru, sunders not.
|
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
बलिहारी गुर आपणे सद बलिहारै जाउ ॥
Balihārī gur āpṇe saḏ balihārai jā▫o.
I am a sacrifice unto my Guru and ever a sacrifice unto him.
|
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਏਤਾ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੇਲਿਮੁ ਦਿਤਮੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर बिनु एता भवि थकी गुरि पिरु मेलिमु दितमु मिलाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur bin eṯā bẖav thakī gur pir melim ḏiṯam milā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I have grown weary of wandering so far without the Guru, Now the Guru has united me the union of my Spouse. Pause.
|
ਫੁਫੀ ਨਾਨੀ ਮਾਸੀਆ ਦੇਰ ਜੇਠਾਨੜੀਆਹ ॥
फुफी नानी मासीआ देर जेठानड़ीआह ॥
Fufī nānī māsī▫ā ḏer jeṯẖānṛī▫āh.
Father's sister, mother's mother, mother's sister, the wife of husband's younger brother and the wife of husband's elder brother.

ਆਵਨਿ ਵੰਞਨਿ ਨਾ ਰਹਨਿ ਪੂਰ ਭਰੇ ਪਹੀਆਹ ॥੨॥
आवनि वंञनि ना रहनि पूर भरे पहीआह ॥२॥
Āvan vañan nā rahan pūr bẖare pahī▫āh. ||2||
They come and go, They stay not but depart like the boat-loads of passengers.
|
ਮਾਮੇ ਤੈ ਮਾਮਾਣੀਆ ਭਾਇਰ ਬਾਪ ਨ ਮਾਉ ॥
मामे तै मामाणीआ भाइर बाप न माउ ॥
Māme ṯai māmāṇī▫ā bẖā▫ir bāp na mā▫o.
The mothers brother, his wife, brother, the father and mother remain not.
|
ਸਾਥ ਲਡੇ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਠੀਆ ਭੀੜ ਘਣੀ ਦਰੀਆਉ ॥੩॥
साथ लडे तिन नाठीआ भीड़ घणी दरीआउ ॥३॥
Sāth lade ṯin nāṯẖī▫ā bẖīṛ gẖaṇī ḏarī▫ā▫o. ||3||
The crowds of those guests are loaded and there is a great rush at the river.
|
ਸਾਚਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗਾਵਲੋ ਸਖੀ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਕੰਤੁ ॥
साचउ रंगि रंगावलो सखी हमारो कंतु ॥
Sācẖa▫o rang rangāvlo sakẖī hamāro kanṯ.
O my maids, my Husband is dyed with the true colour.
|
ਸਚਿ ਵਿਛੋੜਾ ਨਾ ਥੀਐ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵੰਤੁ ॥੪॥
सचि विछोड़ा ना थीऐ सो सहु रंगि रवंतु ॥४॥
Sacẖ vicẖẖoṛā nā thī▫ai so saho rang ravanṯ. ||4||
She, who lovingly remembers the True Lord, her Husband, suffers not separation from Him.
|
ਸਭੇ ਰੁਤੀ ਚੰਗੀਆ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
सभे रुती चंगीआ जितु सचे सिउ नेहु ॥
Sabẖe ruṯī cẖangī▫ā jiṯ sacẖe si▫o nehu.
All the seasons, in which love for the True Lord is embraced, are good.
|
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੁਤੀ ਨਿਸਿ ਡੇਹੁ ॥੫॥
सा धन कंतु पछाणिआ सुखि सुती निसि डेहु ॥५॥
Sā ḏẖan kanṯ pacẖẖāṇi▫ā sukẖ suṯī nis dehu. ||5||
The bride, who knows her spouse, sleeps in peace, night and day.
|
ਪਤਣਿ ਕੂਕੇ ਪਾਤਣੀ ਵੰਞਹੁ ਧ੍ਰੁਕਿ ਵਿਲਾੜਿ ॥
पतणि कूके पातणी वंञहु ध्रुकि विलाड़ि ॥
Paṯaṇ kūke pāṯ▫ṇī vañahu ḏẖaruk vilāṛ.
At the ferry, cries the ferryman "O travelers, cross ye the world-ocean with haste".

ਪਾਰਿ ਪਵੰਦੜੇ ਡਿਠੁ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੋਹਿਥਿ ਚਾੜਿ ॥੬॥
पारि पवंदड़े डिठु मै सतिगुर बोहिथि चाड़ि ॥६॥
Pār pavanḏ▫ṛe diṯẖ mai saṯgur bohith cẖāṛ. ||6||
I have seen the mortals ferrying across. embarking on the True Guru's ship.
|
ਹਿਕਨੀ ਲਦਿਆ ਹਿਕਿ ਲਦਿ ਗਏ ਹਿਕਿ ਭਾਰੇ ਭਰ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
हिकनी लदिआ हिकि लदि गए हिकि भारे भर नालि ॥
Hiknī laḏi▫ā hik laḏ ga▫e hik bẖāre bẖar nāl.
Some have loaded their luggage, some have set out, and some are weighed down with their loads.
|
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਵਣੰਜਿਆ ਸੇ ਸਚੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੭॥
जिनी सचु वणंजिआ से सचे प्रभ नालि ॥७॥
Jinī sacẖ vaṇanji▫ā se sacẖe parabẖ nāl. ||7||
They, who have trafficked in truth, abide with their True Lord.
|
ਨਾ ਹਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਆਖੀਅਹ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
ना हम चंगे आखीअह बुरा न दिसै कोइ ॥
Nā ham cẖange ākẖī▫āh burā na ḏisai ko▫e.
I am not said to be good and I see none who is bad.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀਐ ਸਚੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਸੋਇ ॥੮॥੨॥੧੦॥
नानक हउमै मारीऐ सचे जेहड़ा सोइ ॥८॥२॥१०॥
Nānak ha▫umai mārī▫ai sacẖe jehṛā so▫e. ||8||2||10||
Nanak, he who effaces his self-conceit, is as the True Lord.

ਨਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
ना जाणा मूरखु है कोई ना जाणा सिआणा ॥
Nā jāṇā mūrakẖ hai ko▫ī nā jāṇā si▫āṇā.
I deem no one to be wise of himself, nor do I deem any one as unwise by Himself.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
सदा साहिब कै रंगे राता अनदिनु नामु वखाणा ॥१॥
Saḏā sāhib kai range rāṯā an▫ḏin nām vakẖāṇā. ||1||
Ever imbued with the Lord's love, night and day, utter I His Name.
|
ਬਾਬਾ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਹਾ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
बाबा मूरखु हा नावै बलि जाउ ॥
Bābā mūrakẖ hā nāvai bal jā▫o.
O Father, I am unwise and am a sacrifice unto the Lord's Name.
|
ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੂ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तू करता तू दाना बीना तेरै नामि तराउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧū karṯā ṯū ḏānā bīnā ṯerai nām ṯarā▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Thou are the creator, Thou are thine that I can ferry across. Pause.
|
ਮੂਰਖੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੁਇ ਨਾਉ ॥
मूरखु सिआणा एकु है एक जोति दुइ नाउ ॥
Mūrakẖ si▫āṇā ek hai ek joṯ ḏu▫e nā▫o.
The same person is wise or ignorant. The light within is the same though differently named at different times.
|
ਮੂਰਖਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿ ਮੰਨੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਉ ॥੨॥
मूरखा सिरि मूरखु है जि मंने नाही नाउ ॥२॥
Mūrkẖā sir mūrakẖ hai jė manne nāhī nā▫o. ||2||
The most unwise of the unwise is he, who believes not in the Name.
|
ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਲੈ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
गुर दुआरै नाउ पाईऐ बिनु सतिगुर पलै न पाइ ॥
Gur ḏu▫ārai nā▫o pā▫ī▫ai bin saṯgur palai na pā▫e.
It is through the Guru, that one is blessed with the Name, Without the True Guru the Name is obtained not.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਤਾ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
सतिगुर कै भाणै मनि वसै ता अहिनिसि रहै लिव लाइ ॥३॥
Saṯgur kai bẖāṇai man vasai ṯā ahinis rahai liv lā▫e. ||3||
If through the True Guru's pleasure the Name abides in man's mind, then day and night he remains absorbed in the Lord's love.
|
ਰਾਜੰ ਰੰਗੰ ਰੂਪੰ ਮਾਲੰ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਤੇ ਜੂਆਰੀ ॥
राजं रंगं रूपं मालं जोबनु ते जूआरी ॥
Rājaʼn rangaʼn rūpaʼn mālaʼn joban ṯe jū▫ārī.
Involved in dominion, revelry, beauty, wealth and youth, man gambles away his life.
|
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬਾਧੇ ਪਾਸੈ ਖੇਲਹਿ ਚਉਪੜਿ ਏਕਾ ਸਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
हुकमी बाधे पासै खेलहि चउपड़ि एका सारी ॥४॥
Hukmī bāḏẖe pāsai kẖelėh cẖa▫upaṛ ekā sārī. ||4||
Bound by God's order, man, becoming a dice on the world's chess-board, plays the game of dice.
|
ਜਗਿ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੜਹਿ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ॥
जगि चतुरु सिआणा भरमि भुलाणा नाउ पंडित पड़हि गावारी ॥
Jag cẖaṯur si▫āṇā bẖaram bẖulāṇā nā▫o pandiṯ paṛėh gāvārī.
The world is clever and wise, but strays in doubt. Though Pandit by Name, he is really a literate fool.
|
ਨਾਉ ਵਿਸਾਰਹਿ ਬੇਦੁ ਸਮਾਲਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਲੇਖਾਰੀ ॥੫॥
नाउ विसारहि बेदु समालहि बिखु भूले लेखारी ॥५॥
Nā▫o visārėh beḏ samālėh bikẖ bẖūle lekẖārī. ||5||
Forgetting the Name, he reads the Vedas and deluded by the poisonous riches, he writes his writings.
|
