ਮੂੜੇ ਤੈ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਓ ॥
मूड़े तै मन ते रामु बिसारिओ ॥
Mūṛe ṯai man ṯe rām bisāri▫o.
O fool, from thy mind, thou has forgotten the Lord.

ਲੂਣੁ ਖਾਇ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਰਾਮਖੋਰੀ ਪੇਖਤ ਨੈਨ ਬਿਦਾਰਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
लूणु खाइ करहि हरामखोरी पेखत नैन बिदारिओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Lūṇ kẖā▫e karahi harāmkẖorī pekẖaṯ nain biḏāri▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Eating thy Master's salt, thou break faith with Him. Whilst eyes look on, thou shall be torn asunder. Pause.

ਅਸਾਧ ਰੋਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਤਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਟਰਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਟਾਰਿਓ ॥
असाध रोगु उपजिओ तन भीतरि टरत न काहू टारिओ ॥
Asāḏẖ rog upji▫o ṯan bẖīṯar taraṯ na kāhū tāri▫o.
The incurable disease wells up in the body, which cannot be fended off by any one's fending.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ॥੨॥੮॥
प्रभ बिसरत महा दुखु पाइओ इहु नानक ततु बीचारिओ ॥२॥८॥
Parabẖ bisraṯ mahā ḏukẖ pā▫i▫o ih Nānak ṯaṯ bīcẖāri▫o. ||2||8||
Forgetting the Lord, the mortal meets with extreme agony. This is the quintessence, that Nanak has found through due deliberation.

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਰਾਖੇ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
चरन कमल प्रभ राखे चीति ॥
Cẖaran kamal parabẖ rākẖe cẖīṯ.
The Lord's lotus feet I have enshrined within my mind.
|
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹ ਨੀਤਾ ਨੀਤ ॥
हरि गुण गावह नीता नीत ॥
Har guṇ gāvah nīṯā nīṯ.
Ever, ever sing I the praise of my God.
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
तिसु बिनु दूजा अवरु न कोऊ ॥
Ŧis bin ḏūjā avar na ko▫ū.
Without Him, there is not any other second.

ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੈ ਸੋਊ ॥੧॥
आदि मधि अंति है सोऊ ॥१॥
Āḏ maḏẖ anṯ hai so▫ū. ||1||
He alone is in the beginning, the middle and the end.
|
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
संतन की ओट आपे आपि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sanṯan kī ot āpe āp. ||1|| rahā▫o.
O Himself, the Lord, is the support of His saints. Pause.
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
जा कै वसि है सगल संसारु ॥
Jā kai vas hai sagal sansār.
He, in whose sway is the entire universe;
|
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
आपे आपि आपि निरंकारु ॥
Āpe āp āp nirankār.
he, the Formless Lord who is Himself all-in-all;
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਹਿਓ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
नानक गहिओ साचा सोइ ॥
Nānak gahi▫o sācẖā so▫e.
Nanak has clung to that True Lord.
|
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥੯॥
सुखु पाइआ फिरि दूखु न होइ ॥२॥९॥
Sukẖ pā▫i▫ā fir ḏūkẖ na ho▫e. ||2||9||
He has obtained peace and he shall suffer not pain again.

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By True Guru's grace, He is obtained.
|
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਤੁਮ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਸਾਰਿਓ ਅਗਿਆਨਥ ॥
प्रान सुखदाता जीअ सुखदाता तुम काहे बिसारिओ अगिआनथ ॥
Parān sukẖ▫ḏāṯa jī▫a sukẖ▫ḏāṯa ṯum kāhe bisāri▫o agi▫ānath.
O unwise man, why forget thou the Giver of peace to Thy very life and the Dispenser of bliss to thy soul?

ਹੋਛਾ ਮਦੁ ਚਾਖਿ ਹੋਏ ਤੁਮ ਬਾਵਰ ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥ ॥੧॥
होछा मदु चाखि होए तुम बावर दुलभ जनमु अकारथ ॥१॥
Hocẖẖā maḏ cẖākẖ ho▫e ṯum bāvar ḏulabẖ janam akārath. ||1||
In-drinking the worthless wine, thou has gone mad and wasted thy invaluable life in vain.

ਰੇ ਨਰ ਐਸੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਆਨਥ ॥
रे नर ऐसी करहि इआनथ ॥
Re nar aisī karahi i▫ānath.
Such silliness practise thou, O man.
|
ਤਜਿ ਸਾਰੰਗਧਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਤੂ ਭੂਲਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਦਾਸੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਨਥ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तजि सारंगधर भ्रमि तू भूला मोहि लपटिओ दासी संगि सानथ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧaj sarangḏẖar bẖaram ṯū bẖūlā mohi lapti▫o ḏāsī sang sānath. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Forsaking the Lord the bow-holder stray in doubt and are attached to the worldly love and the company of mammon, the slave-girl. Pause.

ਧਰਣੀਧਰੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਨੀਚ ਕੁਲ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਹਾਵਥ ॥
धरणीधरु तिआगि नीच कुल सेवहि हउ हउ करत बिहावथ ॥
Ḏẖarṇīḏẖar ṯi▫āg nīcẖ kul sevėh ha▫o ha▫o karaṯ bihāvath.
Renouncing thy Lord, the support of the earth, thou serve the hand-maiden of low lineage and thy life passes practising pride and ego.

ਫੋਕਟ ਕਰਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧ ਕਹਾਵਥ ॥੨॥
फोकट करम करहि अगिआनी मनमुखि अंध कहावथ ॥२॥
Fokat karam karahi agi▫ānī manmukẖ anḏẖ kahāvath. ||2||
O ignorant man, thou do vain deeds and are therefore called perverse and blind.

ਸਤਿ ਹੋਤਾ ਅਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਜੋ ਬਿਨਸਤ ਸੋ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਜਾਨਥ ॥
सति होता असति करि मानिआ जो बिनसत सो निहचलु जानथ ॥
Saṯ hoṯā asaṯ kar māni▫ā jo binsaṯ so nihcẖal jānath.
Thou deem as false, what is true, and what is perishable, that thou think to be permanent.
|
ਪਰ ਕੀ ਕਉ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਪਕਰੀ ਐਸੇ ਭੂਲ ਭੁਲਾਨਥ ॥੩॥
पर की कउ अपनी करि पकरी ऐसे भूल भुलानथ ॥३॥
Par kī ka▫o apnī kar pakrī aise bẖūl bẖulānath. ||3||
Thou hold as thy own what belongs to another. In such an error thou are gone amiss.

ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਸੂਦ ਵੈਸ ਸਭ ਏਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਰਾਨਥ ॥
खत्री ब्राहमण सूद वैस सभ एकै नामि तरानथ ॥
Kẖaṯrī barāhmaṇ sūḏ vais sabẖ ekai nām ṯarānath.
The Khashatri, the Brahman, the Sudras and the Vaish, all of the so-called four castes swim across through the one Lord's Name.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਹਤੁ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸੁਨੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨਥ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੦॥
गुरु नानकु उपदेसु कहतु है जो सुनै सो पारि परानथ ॥४॥१॥१०॥
Gur Nānak upḏes kahaṯ hai jo sunai so pār parānath. ||4||1||10||
Guru Nanak utters Divine sermon, whosoever hears it; he is ferried across.

ਗੁਪਤੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡਹਕਾਵਏ ਮਨੁਖਾਇ ॥
गुपतु करता संगि सो प्रभु डहकावए मनुखाइ ॥
Gupaṯ karṯā sang so parabẖ dėhkāva▫e manukẖā▫e.
One does evil deeds in secrecy, but he, the Lord is with him, he can deceive only the mortals.

ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਖੈ ਭੋਗਹਿ ਤਪਤ ਥੰਮ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
बिसारि हरि जीउ बिखै भोगहि तपत थम गलि लाइ ॥१॥
Bisār har jī▫o bikẖai bẖogėh ṯapaṯ thamm gal lā▫e. ||1||
Forgetting thy Reverend Master thou enjoy sexual pleasures. Thou shall be made to embrace red hot pillars.

ਰੇ ਨਰ ਕਾਇ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
रे नर काइ पर ग्रिहि जाइ ॥
Re nar kā▫e par garihi jā▫e.
O man, why go thou to another's woman?
|
ਕੁਚਲ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਾਮਿ ਗਰਧਭ ਤੁਮ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
कुचल कठोर कामि गरधभ तुम नही सुनिओ धरम राइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kucẖal kaṯẖor kām garḏẖabẖ ṯum nahī suni▫o ḏẖaram rā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
O filthy, heartless and lustful donkey, has thou not heard of the Righteous Judge? Pause.

ਬਿਕਾਰ ਪਾਥਰ ਗਲਹਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਨਿੰਦ ਪੋਟ ਸਿਰਾਇ ॥
बिकार पाथर गलहि बाधे निंद पोट सिराइ ॥
Bikār pāthar galėh bāḏẖe ninḏ pot sirā▫e.
The stone of sin is tied to thy neck and the load of slander is on thy head.

ਮਹਾ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸਮੁਦੁ ਲੰਘਨਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਰਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
महा सागरु समुदु लंघना पारि न परना जाइ ॥२॥
Mahā sāgar samuḏ langẖnā pār na parnā jā▫e. ||2||
Thou has to cross the great sea and ocean, Thou can not reach the yonder shore.

ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਓ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਰਖੇ ਫਿਰਾਇ ॥
कामि क्रोधि लोभि मोहि बिआपिओ नेत्र रखे फिराइ ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lobẖ mohi bi▫āpi▫o neṯar rakẖe firā▫e.
Thou are involved in lust, wrath, avarice and worldly attachment. Thine eye thou has turned away from reality.

ਸੀਸੁ ਉਠਾਵਨ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਿਲਈ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਤਰ ਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
सीसु उठावन न कबहू मिलई महा दुतर माइ ॥३॥
Sīs uṯẖāvan na kabhū mil▫ī mahā ḏuṯar mā▫e. ||3||
The most impassable is the sea of mammon, Thou can not ever raise thy head above its water.

ਸੂਰੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸਸੀ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਲਿਪਾਇ ॥
सूरु मुकता ससी मुकता ब्रहम गिआनी अलिपाइ ॥
Sūr mukṯā sasī mukṯā barahm gi▫ānī alipā▫e.
The sun remains unsoiled, the moon remains unsoiled, Similarly the God-divine remains unattached.

ਸੁਭਾਵਤ ਜੈਸੇ ਬੈਸੰਤਰ ਅਲਿਪਤ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
सुभावत जैसे बैसंतर अलिपत सदा निरमलाइ ॥४॥
Subẖāvaṯ jaise baisanṯar alipaṯ saḏā niramlā▫e. ||4||
His nature like fire is ever detached and immaculate.

ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਖੁਲਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਹਿਆ ਪੜਦਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
जिसु करमु खुलिआ तिसु लहिआ पड़दा जिनि गुर पहि मंनिआ सुभाइ ॥
Jis karam kẖuli▫ā ṯis lahi▫ā paṛ▫ḏā jin gur pėh mani▫ā subẖā▫e.
He, whose destiny awakens; His veil of doubt is removed and the order of the Guru he obeys with love.
