ਭਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਨਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ भव निधि तरन तारन चिंतामनि इक निमख न इहु मनु लाइआ ॥१॥ Bʰav niḋʰ ṫaran ṫaaran chinṫaaman ik nimakʰ na ih man laa▫i▫aa. ||1|| God is the boat to carry you across the terrifying world-ocean; He is the Fulfiller of the mind’s desires. You have not centered your mind on Him, even for an instant. ||1|| ਕਵਨ ਕਾਜ ਸਿਰਜੇ ਜਗ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਕਵਨ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ कवन काज सिरजे जग भीतरि जनमि कवन फलु पाइआ ॥ Kavan kaaj sirjé jag bʰeeṫar janam kavan fal paa▫i▫aa. For what purpose were you created and brought into the world? What rewards have you received in this life? ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਥਾ ਦੀਆ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਧੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जिनि प्रभि जीउ पिंडु था दीआ तिस की भाउ भगति नही साधी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jin parabʰ jee▫o pind ṫʰaa ḋee▫aa ṫis kee bʰaa▫o bʰagaṫ nahee saaḋʰee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. God gave me body and soul, but I have not practiced loving devotional worship to Him. ||1||Pause|| ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ॥ गोबिंद हम ऐसे अपराधी ॥ Gobinḋ ham æsé apraaḋʰee. O Lord of the Universe, I am such a sinner! ਪਰ ਧਨ ਪਰ ਤਨ ਪਰ ਤੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰ ਅਪਬਾਦੁ ਨ ਛੂਟੈ ॥ पर धन पर तन पर ती निंदा पर अपबादु न छूटै ॥ Par ḋʰan par ṫan par ṫee ninḋaa par apbaaḋ na chʰootæ. Others’ wealth, others’ bodies, others’ wives, others’ slander and others’ fights - I have not given them up. ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨੁ ਹੋਤੁ ਹੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਪਰਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਤੂਟੈ ॥੨॥ आवा गवनु होतु है फुनि फुनि इहु परसंगु न तूटै ॥२॥ Aavaa gavan hoṫ hæ fun fun ih parsang na ṫootæ. ||2|| For the sake of these, coming and going in reincarnation happens over and over again, and this story never ends. ||2|| ਜਿਹ ਘਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਹੋਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਕੀਨੑੋ ਮੈ ਫੇਰਾ ॥ जिह घरि कथा होत हरि संतन इक निमख न कीन्हो मै फेरा ॥ Jih gʰar kaṫʰaa hoṫ har sanṫan ik nimakʰ na keenĥo mæ féraa. That house, in which the Saints speak of the Lord - I have not visited it, even for an instant. ਲੰਪਟ ਚੋਰ ਦੂਤ ਮਤਵਾਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੩॥ ल्मपट चोर दूत मतवारे तिन संगि सदा बसेरा ॥३॥ Lampat chor ḋooṫ maṫvaaré ṫin sang saḋaa baséraa. ||3|| Drunkards, thieves, and evil-doers - I constantly dwell with them. ||3|| ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦ ਮਤਸਰ ਏ ਸੰਪੈ ਮੋ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ काम क्रोध माइआ मद मतसर ए स्मपै मो माही ॥ Kaam kroḋʰ maa▫i▫aa maḋ maṫsar é sampæ mo maahee. Sexual desire, anger, the wine of Maya, and envy - these are what I collect within myself. ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਅਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਏ ਸੁਪਨੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੪॥ दइआ धरमु अरु गुर की सेवा ए सुपनंतरि नाही ॥४॥ Ḋa▫i▫aa ḋʰaram ar gur kee sévaa é supnanṫar naahee. ||4|| Compassion, righteousness, and service to the Guru - these do not visit me, even in my dreams. ||4|| ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦਮੋਦਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਛਲ ਭੈ ਹਾਰੀ ॥ दीन दइआल क्रिपाल दमोदर भगति बछल भै हारी ॥ Ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aal kirpaal ḋamoḋar bʰagaṫ bachʰal bʰæ haaree. He is merciful to the meek, compassionate and benevolent, the Lover of His devotees, the Destroyer of fear. ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਭੀਰ ਜਨ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਉ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥੫॥੮॥ कहत कबीर भीर जन राखहु हरि सेवा करउ तुम्हारी ॥५॥८॥ Kahaṫ Kabeer bʰeer jan raakʰo har sévaa kara▫o ṫumĥaaree. ||5||8|| Says Kabir, please protect Your humble servant from disaster; O Lord, I serve only You. ||5||8|| ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਬਜਾਵਹਿ ਤੂਰ ॥ निरभउ कै घरि बजावहि तूर ॥ Nirbʰa▫o kæ gʰar bajaavėh ṫoor. In the home of the Fearless Lord, the celestial trumpets resound. ਜਾਹਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਿ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ जाहि बैकुंठि नही संसारि ॥ Jaahi bækuntʰ nahee sansaar. You shall go to heaven, and not return to this earth.
