ਸੋ ਅਉਧੂਤੀ ਜੋ ਧੂਪੈ ਆਪੁ ॥ सो अउधूती जो धूपै आपु ॥ So a▫uḋʰooṫee jo ḋʰoopæ aap. He alone is a detached hermit, who burns away his self-conceit. ਭਿਖਿਆ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ भिखिआ भोजनु करै संतापु ॥ Bʰikʰi▫aa bʰojan karæ sanṫaap. He begs for suffering as his food. ਅਉਹਠ ਪਟਣ ਮਹਿ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਕਰੈ ॥ अउहठ पटण महि भीखिआ करै ॥ A▫uhatʰ pataṇ mėh bʰeekʰi▫aa karæ. In the city of the heart, he begs for charity. ਮਃ ੧ ॥ मः १ ॥ Mėhlaa 1. First Mehl: ਸੋ ਅਉਧੂਤੀ ਸਿਵ ਪੁਰਿ ਚੜੈ ॥ सो अउधूती सिव पुरि चड़ै ॥ So a▫uḋʰooṫee siv pur chaṛæ. Such a renunciate ascends to the City of God. ਬੋਲੈ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੁ ॥ बोलै गोरखु सति सरूपु ॥ Bolæ gorakʰ saṫ saroop. Says Gorakh, God is the embodiment of Truth; ਪਰਮ ਤੰਤ ਮਹਿ ਰੇਖ ਨ ਰੂਪੁ ॥੩॥ परम तंत महि रेख न रूपु ॥३॥ Param ṫanṫ mėh rékʰ na roop. ||3|| the supreme essence of reality has no shape or form. ||3|| ਚੰਦ ਸੂਰਜ ਕੀ ਪਾਏ ਗੰਢਿ ॥ चंद सूरज की पाए गंढि ॥ Chanḋ sooraj kee paa▫é gandʰ. He balances the sun and the moon energies. ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਵਾਸੁ ॥ अरध उरध करे निरंजन वासु ॥ Araḋʰ uraḋʰ karé niranjan vaas. He sees the Immaculate Lord dwelling in both the upper and lower regions. ਸੋ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਜਿ ਪਾਲੇ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥ सो उदासी जि पाले उदासु ॥ So uḋaasee jė paalé uḋaas. He alone is an Udasi, a shaven-headed renunciate, who embraces renunciation.
