ਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਪੜਤਾ ਟੀਕਾ ਸਹਿਤ ॥ मुख ते पड़ता टीका सहित ॥ Mukẖ ṯe paṛ▫ṯā tīkā sahiṯ. You read the scriptures, and the commentaries, ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ रामकली महला ५ ॥ Rāmkalī mėhlā 5. Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl: ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਹਤ ॥ हिरदै रामु नही पूरन रहत ॥ Hirḏai rām nahī pūran rahaṯ. but the Perfect Lord does not dwell in your heart. ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਲੋਕ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥ उपदेसु करे करि लोक द्रिड़ावै ॥ Upḏes kare kar lok ḏariṛ▫āvai. You preach to others to have faith, ਅਪਨਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਨ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ अपना कहिआ आपि न कमावै ॥१॥ Apnā kahi▫ā āp na kamāvai. ||1|| but you do not practice what you preach. ||1|| ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੇਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥ पंडित बेदु बीचारि पंडित ॥ Pandiṯ beḏ bīcẖār pandiṯ. O Pandit, O religious scholar, contemplate the Vedas. ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ मन का क्रोधु निवारि पंडित ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Man kā kroḏẖ nivār pandiṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o. Eradicate anger from your mind, O Pandit. ||1||Pause|| ਆਗੈ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਸਾਲ ਗਿਰਾਮੁ ॥ आगै राखिओ साल गिरामु ॥ Āgai rākẖi▫o sāl girām. You place your stone god before yourself, ਮਨੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥ मनु कीनो दह दिस बिस्रामु ॥ Man kīno ḏah ḏis bisrām. but your mind wanders in the ten directions. ਤਿਲਕੁ ਚਰਾਵੈ ਪਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥ तिलकु चरावै पाई पाइ ॥ Ŧilak cẖarāvai pā▫ī pā▫e. You apply a ceremonial tilak mark to its forehead, and fall at its feet. ਲੋਕ ਪਚਾਰਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ लोक पचारा अंधु कमाइ ॥२॥ Lok pacẖārā anḏẖ kamā▫e. ||2|| You try to appease the people, and act blindly. ||2|| ਖਟੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਅਰੁ ਆਸਣੁ ਧੋਤੀ ॥ खटु करमा अरु आसणु धोती ॥ Kẖat karmā ar āsaṇ ḏẖoṯī. You perform the six religious rituals, and sit wearing your loin-cloth. ਭਾਗਠਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਪੜੈ ਨਿਤ ਪੋਥੀ ॥ भागठि ग्रिहि पड़ै नित पोथी ॥ Bẖāgaṯẖ garihi paṛai niṯ pothī. In the homes of the wealthy, you read the prayer book. ਮਾਲਾ ਫੇਰੈ ਮੰਗੈ ਬਿਭੂਤ ॥ माला फेरै मंगै बिभूत ॥ Mālā ferai mangai bibẖūṯ. You chant on your mala, and beg for money. ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥ चतुर बेद पूरन हरि नाइ ॥ Cẖaṯur beḏ pūran har nā▫e. The four Vedas are completely contained within the Lord's Name. ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕੀ ਓਸੁ ਉਤਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥ त्रै गुण की ओसु उतरी माइ ॥ Ŧarai guṇ kī os uṯrī mā▫e. Maya, of the three qualities, leaves him. ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥ सो पंडितु गुर सबदु कमाइ ॥ So pandiṯ gur sabaḏ kamā▫e. He alone is a Pandit, who lives the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਤਰਿਓ ਮੀਤ ॥੩॥ इह बिधि कोइ न तरिओ मीत ॥३॥ Ih biḏẖ ko▫e na ṯari▫o mīṯ. ||3|| No one has ever been saved in this way, friend. ||3|| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੭॥ नानक तिस की सरणी पाइ ॥४॥६॥१७॥ Nānak ṯis kī sarṇī pā▫e. ||4||6||17|| Nanak seeks His Sanctuary. ||4||6||17||
