ਸੁਣਿ ਮਾਛਿੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ॥ सुणि माछिंद्रा नानकु बोलै ॥ Suṇ maachʰinḋaraa Naanak bolæ. Listen, Machhindra, to what Nanak says. ਰਾਮਕਲੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ रामकली महला १ ॥ Raamkalee mėhlaa 1. Raamkalee, First Mehl: ਵਸਗਤਿ ਪੰਚ ਕਰੇ ਨਹ ਡੋਲੈ ॥ वसगति पंच करे नह डोलै ॥ vasgaṫ panch karé nah dolæ. One who subdues the five passions does not waver. ਐਸੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜੋਗ ਕਉ ਪਾਲੇ ॥ ऐसी जुगति जोग कउ पाले ॥ Æsee jugaṫ jog ka▫o paalé. One who practices Yoga in such a way, ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ आपि तरै सगले कुल तारे ॥१॥ Aap ṫaræ saglé kul ṫaaré. ||1|| saves himself, and saves all his generations. ||1|| ਸੋ ਅਉਧੂਤੁ ਐਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ सो अउधूतु ऐसी मति पावै ॥ So a▫uḋʰooṫ æsee maṫ paavæ. He alone is a hermit, who attains such understanding. ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ अहिनिसि सुंनि समाधि समावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Ahinis sunn samaaḋʰ samaavæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Day and night, he remains absorbed in the deepest Samadhi. ||1||Pause|| ਭਿਖਿਆ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੈ ਚਲੈ ॥ भिखिआ भाइ भगति भै चलै ॥ Bʰikʰi▫aa bʰaa▫é bʰagaṫ bʰæ chalæ. He begs for loving devotion to the Lord, and lives in the Fear of God. ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਾੜੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ सचि नामि ताड़ी चितु लावै ॥२॥ Sach naam ṫaaṛee chiṫ laavæ. ||2|| He focuses his consciousness in the deep trance of the True Name. ||2|| ਧਿਆਨ ਰੂਪਿ ਹੋਇ ਆਸਣੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ धिआन रूपि होइ आसणु पावै ॥ Ḋʰi▫aan roop ho▫é aasaṇ paavæ. Becoming the embodiment of meditation, he attains the true Yogic posture. ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖਿ ਅਮੁਲੈ ॥ होवै सु त्रिपति संतोखि अमुलै ॥ Hovæ so ṫaripaṫ sanṫokʰ amulæ. He is satisfied with the priceless gift of contentment. ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ नानकु बोलै अमृत बाणी ॥ Naanak bolæ amriṫ baṇee. Nanak chants the Ambrosial Bani. ਸੁਣਿ ਮਾਛਿੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਅਉਧੂ ਨੀਸਾਣੀ ॥ सुणि माछिंद्रा अउधू नीसाणी ॥ Suṇ maachʰinḋaraa a▫oḋʰoo neesaaṇee. Listen, O Machhindra: this is the insignia of the true hermit. ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੁ ਵਲਾਏ ॥ आसा माहि निरासु वलाए ॥ Aasaa maahi niraas valaa▫é. One who, in the midst of hope, remains untouched by hope, ਨਿਹਚਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥ निहचउ नानक करते पाए ॥३॥ Nihcha▫o Naanak karṫé paa▫é. ||3|| shall truly find the Creator Lord. ||3|| ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥ प्रणवति नानकु अगमु सुणाए ॥ Paraṇvaṫ Naanak agam suṇaa▫é. Prays Nanak, I share the mysterious secrets of God. ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲੇ ਕੀ ਸੰਧਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ गुर चेले की संधि मिलाए ॥ Gur chélé kee sanḋʰ milaa▫é. The Guru and His disciple are joined together! ਦੀਖਿਆ ਦਾਰੂ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ दीखिआ दारू भोजनु खाइ ॥ Ḋeekʰi▫aa ḋaaroo bʰojan kʰaa▫é. One who eats this food, this medicine of the Teachings, ਛਿਅ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੫॥ छिअ दरसन की सोझी पाइ ॥४॥५॥ Chʰi▫a ḋarsan kee sojʰee paa▫é. ||4||5|| has the wisdom of the six Shastras. ||4||5|| ਹਮ ਡੋਲਤ ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਪ ਭਰੀ ਹੈ ਪਵਣੁ ਲਗੈ ਮਤੁ ਜਾਈ ॥ हम डोलत बेड़ी पाप भरी है पवणु लगै मतु जाई ॥ Ham dolaṫ béṛee paap bʰaree hæ pavaṇ lagæ maṫ jaa▫ee. My boat is wobbly and unsteady; it is filled with sins. The wind is rising - what if it tips over?
