Humbly bow to the Perfect Divine Guru. ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਸਫਲ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥ सफल मूरति सफल जा की सेव ॥ Safal mooraṫ safal jaa kee sév. Fruitful is His image, and fruitful is service to Him. ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥ अंतरजामी पुरखु बिधाता ॥ Anṫarjaamee purakʰ biḋʰaaṫaa. He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, the Architect of Destiny. ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ आठ पहर नाम रंगि राता ॥१॥ Aatʰ pahar naam rang raaṫaa. ||1|| Twenty-four hours a day, he remains imbued with the love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥ गुरु गोबिंद गुरू गोपाल ॥ Gur gobinḋ guroo gopaal. The Guru is the Lord of the Universe, the Guru is the Lord of the World. ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ अपने दास कउ राखनहार ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Apné ḋaas ka▫o raakʰanhaar. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He is the Saving Grace of His slaves. ||1||Pause|| ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਹ ਉਮਰਾਉ ਪਤੀਆਏ ॥ पातिसाह साह उमराउ पतीआए ॥ Paaṫisaah saah umraa▫o paṫee▫aa▫é. He satisfies the kings, emperors and nobles. ਦੁਸਟ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਚਾਏ ॥ दुसट अहंकारी मारि पचाए ॥ Ḋusat ahaⁿkaaree maar pachaa▫é. He destroys the egotistical villains. ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ निंदक कै मुखि कीनो रोगु ॥ Ninḋak kæ mukʰ keeno rog. He puts illness into the mouths of the slanderers. ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥੨॥ जै जै कारु करै सभु लोगु ॥२॥ Jæ jæ kaar karæ sabʰ log. ||2|| All the people celebrate His victory. ||2|| ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥ संतन कै मनि महा अनंदु ॥ Sanṫan kæ man mahaa anand. Supreme bliss fills the minds of the Saints. ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਏ ॥ संगति के मुख ऊजल भए ॥ Sangaṫ ké mukʰ oojal bʰa▫é. The faces of His companions become radiant and bright. ਸੰਤ ਜਪਹਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥ संत जपहि गुरदेउ भगवंतु ॥ Sanṫ jaapėh gurḋé▫o bʰagvanṫ. The Saints meditate on the Divine Guru, the Lord God. ਸਗਲ ਥਾਨ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੇ ਗਏ ॥੩॥ सगल थान निंदक के गए ॥३॥ Sagal ṫʰaan ninḋak ké ga▫é. ||3|| The slanderers lose all places of rest. ||3|| ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ॥ सासि सासि जनु सदा सलाहे ॥ Saas saas jan saḋaa salaahé. With each and every breath, the Lord’s humble slaves praise Him. ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥ पारब्रहम गुर बेपरवाहे ॥ Paarbarahm gur béparvaahé. The Supreme Lord God and the Guru are care-free. ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਮਿਟੇ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ॥ सगल भै मिटे जा की सरनि ॥ Sagal bʰæ mité jaa kee saran. All fears are eradicated, in His Sanctuary. ਨਿੰਦਕ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਭਿ ਧਰਨਿ ॥੪॥ निंदक मारि पाए सभि धरनि ॥४॥ Ninḋak maar paa▫é sabʰ ḋʰaran. ||4|| Smashing all the slanderers, the Lord knocks them to the ground. ||4|| ਜਨ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ जन की निंदा करै न कोइ ॥ Jan kee ninḋaa karæ na ko▫é. Let no one slander the Lord’s humble servants. ਜੋ ਕਰੈ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਹੋਇ ॥ जो करै सो दुखीआ होइ ॥ Jo karæ so ḋukʰee▫aa ho▫é. Whoever does so will be miserable. ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਜਨੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥ आठ पहर जनु एकु धिआए ॥ Aatʰ pahar jan ék ḋʰi▫aa▫é. Twenty-four hours a day, the Lord’s humble servant meditates on Him alone. ਜਨ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ जन निरवैर निंदक अहंकारी ॥ Jan nirvær ninḋak ahaⁿkaaree. The Lord’s humble servant has no vengeance. The slanderer is egotistical. ਜਮੂਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥੫॥ जमूआ ता कै निकटि न जाए ॥५॥ Jamoo▫aa ṫaa kæ nikat na jaa▫é. ||5|| The Messenger of Death does not even approach him. ||5|| ਜਨ ਭਲ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥ जन भल मानहि निंदक वेकारी ॥ Jan bʰal maanėh ninḋak vékaaree. The Lord’s humble servant wishes well, while the slanderer dwells on evil. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਿਖਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥ गुर कै सिखि सतिगुरू धिआइआ ॥ Gur kæ sikʰ saṫguroo ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫aa. The Sikh of the Guru meditates on the True Guru. ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥ जन उबरे निंदक नरकि पाइआ ॥६॥ Jan ubré ninḋak narak paa▫i▫aa. ||6|| The Lord’s humble servants are saved, while the slanderer is cast into hell. ||6|| ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ सुणि साजन मेरे मीत पिआरे ॥ Suṇ saajan méré meeṫ pi▫aaré. Listen, O my beloved friends and companions: ਸਤਿ ਬਚਨ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥ सति बचन वरतहि हरि दुआरे ॥ Saṫ bachan varṫėh har ḋu▫aaré. These words shall be true in the Court of the Lord. ਜੈਸਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਾਏ ॥ जैसा करे सु तैसा पाए ॥ Jæsaa karé so ṫæsaa paa▫é. As you plant, so shall you harvest. ਅਭਿਮਾਨੀ ਕੀ ਜੜ ਸਰਪਰ ਜਾਏ ॥੭॥ अभिमानी की जड़ सरपर जाए ॥७॥ Abʰimaanee kee jaṛ sarpar jaa▫é. ||7|| The proud, egotistical person will surely be uprooted. ||7|| ਨੀਧਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਧਰ ਤੇਰੀ ॥ नीधरिआ सतिगुर धर तेरी ॥ Neeḋʰri▫aa saṫgur ḋʰar ṫéree. O True Guru, You are the Support of the unsupported. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥ करि किरपा राखहु जन केरी ॥ Kar kirpaa raakʰo jan kéree. Be merciful, and save Your humble servant. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥ कहु नानक तिसु गुर बलिहारी ॥ Kaho Naanak ṫis gur balihaaree. Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Guru; ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੨੯॥ जा कै सिमरनि पैज सवारी ॥८॥१॥२९॥ Jaa kæ simran pæj savaaree. ||8||1||29|| remembering Him in meditation, my honor has been saved. ||8||1||29||
