ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ हउमै माइआ मोहणी दूजै लगै जाइ ॥ Ha▫umai mā▫i▫ā mohṇī ḏūjai lagai jā▫e. Through egotism, fascination with Maya has trapped them in duality. ਮਃ ੩ ॥ मः ३ ॥ Mėhlā 3. Third Mehl: ਨਾ ਇਹ ਮਾਰੀ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨਾ ਇਹ ਹਟਿ ਵਿਕਾਇ ॥ ना इह मारी न मरै ना इह हटि विकाइ ॥ Nā ih mārī na marai nā ih hat vikā▫e. It cannot be killed, it does not die, and it cannot be sold in a store. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਰਜਾਲੀਐ ਤਾ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ गुर कै सबदि परजालीऐ ता इह विचहु जाइ ॥ Gur kai sabaḏ parjālī▫ai ṯā ih vicẖahu jā▫e. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is burnt away, and then it departs from within. ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਉਜਲਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥ तनु मनु होवै उजला नामु वसै मनि आइ ॥ Ŧan man hovai ujlā nām vasai man ā▫e. The body and mind become pure, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell within the mind. ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਣੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ नानक माइआ का मारणु सबदु है गुरमुखि पाइआ जाइ ॥२॥ Nānak mā▫i▫ā kā māraṇ sabaḏ hai gurmukẖ pā▫i▫ā jā▫e. ||2|| O Nanak, the Shabad is the killer of Maya; the Gurmukh obtains it. ||2||
