ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਗਵਾਰ ॥ मनमुख मैले मरहि गवार ॥ Manmukẖ maile marėh gavār. The filthy, foolish, self-willed manmukhs die. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ गुरमुखि निरमल हरि राखिआ उर धारि ॥ Gurmukẖ nirmal har rākẖi▫ā ur ḏẖār. The Gurmukhs are immaculate and pure; they keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਈ ॥ सतिगुरु सेविहु हउमै मलु जाई ॥ Saṯgur sevihu ha▫umai mal jā▫ī. Serve the True Guru, and the filth of your ego shall be gone. ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ ॥ भनति नानकु सुणहु जन भाई ॥ Bẖanaṯ Nānak suṇhu jan bẖā▫ī. Prays Nanak, listen, O Siblings of Destiny! ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੰਸਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧਾ ਨਿਤ ਮਾਰ ॥ अंदरि संसा दूखु विआपे सिरि धंधा नित मार ॥ Anḏar sansā ḏūkẖ vi▫āpe sir ḏẖanḏẖā niṯ mār. Deep within, the pain of skepticism afflicts them; their heads are constantly assaulted by worldly entanglements. ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਸੂਤੇ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਪਿਆਰ ॥ दूजै भाइ सूते कबहु न जागहि माइआ मोह पिआर ॥ Ḏūjai bẖā▫e sūṯe kabahu na jāgėh mā▫i▫ā moh pi▫ār. Asleep in the love of duality, they never wake up; they are attached to the love of Maya. ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ नामु न चेतहि सबदु न वीचारहि इहु मनमुख का बीचार ॥ Nām na cẖīṯėh sabaḏ na vicẖārėh ih manmukẖ kā bīcẖār. They do not remember the Name, and they do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad; this is the view of the self-willed manmukhs. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰ ॥੩॥ हरि नामु न भाइआ बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ नानक जमु मारि करे खुआर ॥३॥ Har nām na bẖā▫i▫ā birthā janam gavā▫i▫ā Nānak jam mār kare kẖu▫ār. ||3|| They do not love the Lord's Name, and they lose their life uselessly. O Nanak, the Messenger of Death attacks them, and humiliates them. ||3||
