ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ. One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਕਾਫੀ ਘਰੁ ੧੦ सूही महला १ काफी घरु १० Sūhī mėhlā 1 kāfī gẖar 10 Soohee, First Mehl, Kaafee, Tenth House: ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਚੁਲੰਭੁ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ मनु तनु होइ चुल्मभु जे सतिगुर भाइआ ॥१॥ Man ṯan ho▫e cẖulambẖ je saṯgur bẖā▫i▫ā. ||1|| The mind and body are dyed in the deep red color of devotional love, if it pleases the True Guru. ||1|| ਚਲੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਲੈ ॥ चलै जनमु सवारि वखरु सचु लै ॥ Cẖalai janam savār vakẖar sacẖ lai. He departs with his life embellished and successful, taking the merchandise of the True Name. ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਦੁਲੰਭੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ माणस जनमु दुल्मभु गुरमुखि पाइआ ॥ Māṇas janam ḏulambẖ gurmukẖ pā▫i▫ā. This human birth is so difficult to obtain; the Gurmukh obtains it. ਪਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ पति पाए दरबारि सतिगुर सबदि भै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Paṯ pā▫e ḏarbār saṯgur sabaḏ bẖai. ||1|| rahā▫o. He is honored in the Darbaar, the Royal Court, of the Lord, through the Shabad, the Word of the True Guru, and the Fear of God. ||1||Pause|| ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ मनि तनि सचु सलाहि साचे मनि भाइआ ॥ Man ṯan sacẖ salāhi sācẖe man bẖā▫i▫ā. One who praises the True Lord with his mind and body, pleases the Mind of the True Lord. ਲਾਲਿ ਰਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ लालि रता मनु मानिआ गुरु पूरा पाइआ ॥२॥ Lāl raṯā man māni▫ā gur pūrā pā▫i▫ā. ||2|| Attuned to the Beloved Lord, the mind is appeased, and finds the Perfect Guru. ||2|| ਹਉ ਜੀਵਾ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੂ ਵਸੈ ॥ हउ जीवा गुण सारि अंतरि तू वसै ॥ Ha▫o jīvā guṇ sār anṯar ṯū vasai. I live, by cherishing Your Glorious Virtues; You dwell deep within me. ਤੂੰ ਵਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਰਸਿ ਰਸੈ ॥੩॥ तूं वसहि मन माहि सहजे रसि रसै ॥३॥ Ŧūʼn vasėh man māhi sėhje ras rasai. ||3|| You dwell within my mind, and so it naturally celebrates in joyful delight. ||3|| ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ ਸਮਝਾਇ ਆਖਉ ਕੇਤੜਾ ॥ मूरख मन समझाइ आखउ केतड़ा ॥ Mūrakẖ man samjẖā▫e ākẖa▫o keṯ▫ṛā. O my foolish mind, how can I teach and instruct you? ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗੇਤੜਾ ॥੪॥ गुरमुखि हरि गुण गाइ रंगि रंगेतड़ा ॥४॥ Gurmukẖ har guṇ gā▫e rang rangeṯ▫ṛā. ||4|| As Gurmukh, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and so become attuned to His Love. ||4|| ਜੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਲਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੰਤਾਪਣਾ ॥੫॥ जे चलहि गुण नालि नाही दुखु संतापणा ॥५॥ Je cẖalėh guṇ nāl nāhī ḏukẖ sanṯāpaṇā. ||5|| For if you depart with virtue, then pain shall never afflict you. ||5|| ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਆਪਣਾ ॥ नित नित रिदै समालि प्रीतमु आपणा ॥ Niṯ niṯ riḏai samāl parīṯam āpṇā. Continually, continuously, remember and cherish your Beloved Lord in your heart. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣਾ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੈ ॥ मनमुख भरमि भुलाणा ना तिसु रंगु है ॥ Manmukẖ bẖaram bẖulāṇā nā ṯis rang hai. The self-willed manmukh wanders around, deluded by doubt; he does not enshrine love for the Lord. ਮਰਸੀ ਹੋਇ ਵਿਡਾਣਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਭੰਗੁ ਹੈ ॥੬॥ मरसी होइ विडाणा मनि तनि भंगु है ॥६॥ Marsī ho▫e vidāṇā man ṯan bẖang hai. ||6|| He dies as a stranger to his own self, and his mind and body are spoiled. ||6|| ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ ਲਾਹਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਣਿਆ ॥ गुर की कार कमाइ लाहा घरि आणिआ ॥ Gur kī kār kamā▫e lāhā gẖar āṇi▫ā. Performing service to the Guru, you shall go home with the profit. ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ गुरबाणी निरबाणु सबदि पछाणिआ ॥७॥ Gurbāṇī nirbāṇ sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇi▫ā. ||7|| Through the Word of the Guru's Bani, and the Shabad, the Word of God, the state of Nirvaanaa is attained. ||7|| ਇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਜੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਸੀ ॥ इक नानक की अरदासि जे तुधु भावसी ॥ Ik Nānak kī arḏās je ṯuḏẖ bẖāvsī. Nanak makes this one prayer: if it pleases Your Will, ਮੈ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਸੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੩॥ मै दीजै नाम निवासु हरि गुण गावसी ॥८॥१॥३॥ Mai ḏījai nām nivās har guṇ gāvsī. ||8||1||3|| bless me with a home in Your Name, Lord, that I may sing Your Glorious Praises. ||8||1||3||
