ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸੂਹੀ ਮਹਲਾ ਘਰੁ
सूही महला १ घरु ६
Sūhī mėhlā 1 gẖar 6
Soohee, First Mehl, Sixth House:

ਧੋਤਿਆ ਜੂਠਿ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੇ ਸਉ ਧੋਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ॥੧॥
धोतिआ जूठि न उतरै जे सउ धोवा तिसु ॥१॥
Ḏẖoṯi▫ā jūṯẖ na uṯrai je sa▫o ḏẖovā ṯis. ||1||
Washing it, its impurity is not removed, even if it is washed a hundred times. ||1||

ਸਜਣ ਸੇਈ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੈ ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ
सजण सेई नालि मै चलदिआ नालि चलंन्हि ॥
Sajaṇ se▫ī nāl mai cẖalḏi▫ā nāl cẖalaʼnniĥ.
They alone are my friends, who travel along with me;

ਉਜਲੁ ਕੈਹਾ ਚਿਲਕਣਾ ਘੋਟਿਮ ਕਾਲੜੀ ਮਸੁ
उजलु कैहा चिलकणा घोटिम कालड़ी मसु ॥
Ujal kaihā cẖilkaṇā gẖotim kālṛī mas.
Bronze is bright and shiny, but when it is rubbed, its blackness appears.

ਜਿਥੈ ਲੇਖਾ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਤਿਥੈ ਖੜੇ ਦਿਸੰਨਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जिथै लेखा मंगीऐ तिथै खड़े दिसंनि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jithai lekẖā mangī▫ai ṯithai kẖaṛe ḏisann. ||1|| rahā▫o.
and in that place, where the accounts are called for, they appear standing with me. ||1||Pause||

ਕੋਠੇ ਮੰਡਪ ਮਾੜੀਆ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਚਿਤਵੀਆਹਾ
कोठे मंडप माड़ीआ पासहु चितवीआहा ॥
Koṯẖe mandap māṛī▫ā pāshu cẖiṯvī▫āhā.
There are houses, mansions and tall buildings, painted on all sides;

ਢਠੀਆ ਕੰਮਿ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਖਣੀਆਹਾ ॥੨॥
ढठीआ कमि न आवन्ही विचहु सखणीआहा ॥२॥
Dẖaṯẖī▫ā kamm na āvnĥī vicẖahu sakẖ▫ṇī▫āhā. ||2||
but they are empty within, and they crumble like useless ruins. ||2||

ਬਗਾ ਬਗੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਮੰਝਿ ਵਸੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ
बगा बगे कपड़े तीरथ मंझि वसंन्हि ॥
Bagā bage kapṛe ṯirath manjẖ vasaʼnniĥ.
The herons in their white feathers dwell in the sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਘੁਟਿ ਘੁਟਿ ਜੀਆ ਖਾਵਣੇ ਬਗੇ ਨਾ ਕਹੀਅਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੩॥
घुटि घुटि जीआ खावणे बगे ना कहीअन्हि ॥३॥
Gẖut gẖut jī▫ā kẖāvṇe bage nā kahī▫aniĥ. ||3||
They tear apart and eat the living beings, and so they are not called white. ||3||

ਸਿੰਮਲ ਰੁਖੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਮੈ ਮੈਜਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਭੁਲੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ
सिमल रुखु सरीरु मै मैजन देखि भुलंन्हि ॥
Simmal rukẖ sarīr mai maijan ḏekẖ bẖulaʼnniĥ.
My body is like the simmal tree; seeing me, other people are fooled.

ਸੇ ਫਲ ਕੰਮਿ ਆਵਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਹੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ॥੪॥
से फल कमि न आवन्ही ते गुण मै तनि हंन्हि ॥४॥
Se fal kamm na āvnĥī ṯe guṇ mai ṯan haʼnniĥ. ||4||
Its fruits are useless - just like the qualities of my body. ||4||

ਅੰਧੁਲੈ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਇਆ ਡੂਗਰ ਵਾਟ ਬਹੁਤੁ
अंधुलै भारु उठाइआ डूगर वाट बहुतु ॥
Anḏẖulai bẖār uṯẖā▫i▫ā dūgar vāt bahuṯ.
The blind man is carrying such a heavy load, and his journey through the mountains is so long.

ਅਖੀ ਲੋੜੀ ਨਾ ਲਹਾ ਹਉ ਚੜਿ ਲੰਘਾ ਕਿਤੁ ॥੫॥
अखी लोड़ी ना लहा हउ चड़ि लंघा कितु ॥५॥
Akẖī loṛī nā lahā ha▫o cẖaṛ langẖā kiṯ. ||5||
My eyes can see, but I cannot find the Way. How can I climb up and cross over the mountain? ||5||

ਚਾਕਰੀਆ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਤੁ
चाकरीआ चंगिआईआ अवर सिआणप कितु ॥
Cẖākrī▫ā cẖang▫ā▫ī▫ā avar si▫āṇap kiṯ.
What good does it do to serve, and be good, and be clever?

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਬਧਾ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ॥੬॥੧॥੩॥
नानक नामु समालि तूं बधा छुटहि जितु ॥६॥१॥३॥
Nānak nām samāl ṯūʼn baḏẖā cẖẖutėh jiṯ. ||6||1||3||
O Nanak, contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and you shall be released from bondage. ||6||1||3||
