ਰਾਜ ਕਪਟੰ ਰੂਪ ਕਪਟੰ ਧਨ ਕਪਟੰ ਕੁਲ ਗਰਬਤਹ ॥ राज कपटं रूप कपटं धन कपटं कुल गरबतह ॥ Rāj kaptaʼn rūp kaptaʼn ḏẖan kaptaʼn kul garabṯėh. Power is fraudulent, beauty is fraudulent, and wealth is fraudulent, as is pride of ancestry. ਸਲੋਕ ॥ सलोक ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਪੇਖੰਦੜੋ ਕੀ ਭੁਲੁ ਤੁੰਮਾ ਦਿਸਮੁ ਸੋਹਣਾ ॥ पेखंदड़ो की भुलु तुमा दिसमु सोहणा ॥ Pekẖanḏ▫ṛo kī bẖul ṯummā ḏisam sohṇā. Beholding the bitter melon, he is deceived, since it appears so pretty ਸੰਚੰਤਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਛਲੰ ਛਿਦ੍ਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਤੇ ॥੧॥ संचंति बिखिआ छलं छिद्रं नानक बिनु हरि संगि न चालते ॥१॥ Saʼncẖanṯ bikẖi▫ā cẖẖalaʼn cẖẖiḏaraʼn Nānak bin har sang na cẖālṯe. ||1|| One may gather poison through deception and fraud, O Nanak, but without the Lord, nothing shall go along with him in the end. ||1||
