ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ सहजि मिलै मिलिआ परवाणु ॥ Sahj milai mili▫ā parvāṇ. That union with the Lord is acceptable, which is united in intuitive poise. ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ धनासरी महला १ ॥ Ḏẖanāsrī mėhlā 1. Dhanaasaree, First Mehl: ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ॥ ना तिसु मरणु न आवणु जाणु ॥ Nā ṯis maraṇ na āvaṇ jāṇ. Thereafter, one does not die, and does not come and go in reincarnation. ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਹਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥ ठाकुर महि दासु दास महि सोइ ॥ Ŧẖākur mėh ḏās ḏās mėh so▫e. The Lord's slave is in the Lord, and the Lord is in His slave. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ गुरमुखि भगति सहज घरु पाईऐ ॥ Gurmukẖ bẖagaṯ sahj gẖar pā▫ī▫ai. The Gurmukhs worship the Lord, and find His celestial home. ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥ जह देखा तह अवरु न कोइ ॥१॥ Jah ḏekẖā ṯah avar na ko▫e. ||1|| Wherever I look, I see none other than the Lord. ||1|| ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮਰਿ ਆਈਐ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ बिनु गुर भेटे मरि आईऐ जाईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Bin gur bẖete mar ā▫ī▫ai jā▫ī▫ai. ||1|| rahā▫o. Without meeting the Guru, they die, and come and go in reincarnation. ||1||Pause|| ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਉ ਜਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥ सो गुरु करउ जि साचु द्रिड़ावै ॥ So gur kara▫o jė sācẖ ḏariṛ▫āvai. So make Him your Guru, who implants the Truth within you, ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥਾਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥ अकथु कथावै सबदि मिलावै ॥ Akath kathāvai sabaḏ milāvai. who leads you to speak the Unspoken Speech, and who merges you in the Word of the Shabad. ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗ ਅਵਰ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਰਾ ॥ हरि के लोग अवर नही कारा ॥ Har ke log avar nahī kārā. God's people have no other work to do; ਸਾਚਉ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੨॥ साचउ ठाकुरु साचु पिआरा ॥२॥ Sācẖa▫o ṯẖākur sācẖ pi▫ārā. ||2|| they love the True Lord and Master, and they love the Truth. ||2|| ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਚਾ ॥ तन महि मनूआ मन महि साचा ॥ Ŧan mėh manū▫ā man mėh sācẖā. The mind is in the body, and the True Lord is in the mind. ਸੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਰਾਚਾ ॥ सो साचा मिलि साचे राचा ॥ So sācẖā mil sācẖe rācẖā. Merging into the True Lord, one is absorbed into Truth. ਸੇਵਕੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਾਇ ॥ सेवकु प्रभ कै लागै पाइ ॥ Sevak parabẖ kai lāgai pā▫e. God's servant bows at His feet. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥ सतिगुरु पूरा मिलै मिलाइ ॥३॥ Saṯgur pūrā milai milā▫e. ||3|| Meeting the True Guru, one meets with the Lord. ||3|| ਆਪਿ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਖੈ ॥ आपि दिखावै आपे देखै ॥ Āp ḏikẖāvai āpe ḏekẖai. He Himself watches over us, and He Himself makes us see. ਹਠਿ ਨ ਪਤੀਜੈ ਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਭੇਖੈ ॥ हठि न पतीजै ना बहु भेखै ॥ Haṯẖ na paṯījai nā baho bẖekẖai. He is not pleased by stubborn-mindedness, nor by various religious robes. ਘੜਿ ਭਾਡੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ घड़ि भाडे जिनि अम्रितु पाइआ ॥ Gẖaṛ bẖāde jin amriṯ pā▫i▫ā. He fashioned the body-vessels, and infused the Ambrosial Nectar into them; ਬਹੁਤੁ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ बहुतु सिआणप आवहि जाहि ॥ Bahuṯ si▫āṇap āvahi jāhi. By great cleverness, one is consigned to coming and going in reincarnation. ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਭੂਲਹਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ पड़ि पड़ि भूलहि चोटा खाहि ॥ Paṛ paṛ bẖūlėh cẖotā kẖāhi. Reading and studying, one becomes confused, and suffers punishment. ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਇਆ ॥੪॥ प्रेम भगति प्रभि मनु पतीआइआ ॥४॥ Parem bẖagaṯ parabẖ man paṯī▫ā▫i▫ā. ||4|| God's Mind is pleased only by loving devotional worship. ||4|| ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਭਉ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਇ ॥ नामु जपै भउ भोजनु खाइ ॥ Nām japai bẖa▫o bẖojan kẖā▫e. One who chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and eats the food of the Fear of God ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੫॥ गुरमुखि सेवक रहे समाइ ॥५॥ Gurmukẖ sevak rahe samā▫e. ||5|| becomes Gurmukh, the Lord's servant, and remains absorbed in the Lord. ||5|| ਪੂਜਿ ਸਿਲਾ ਤੀਰਥ ਬਨ ਵਾਸਾ ॥ पूजि सिला तीरथ बन वासा ॥ Pūj silā ṯirath ban vāsā. He worships stones, dwells at sacred shrines of pilgrimage and in the jungles, ਭਰਮਤ ਡੋਲਤ ਭਏ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥ भरमत डोलत भए उदासा ॥ Bẖarmaṯ dolaṯ bẖa▫e uḏāsā. wanders, roams around and becomes a renunciate. ਮਨਿ ਮੈਲੈ ਸੂਚਾ ਕਿਉ ਹੋਇ ॥ मनि मैलै सूचा किउ होइ ॥ Man mailai sūcẖā ki▫o ho▫e. But his mind is still filthy - how can he become pure? ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਤਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੬॥ साचि मिलै पावै पति सोइ ॥६॥ Sācẖ milai pāvai paṯ so▫e. ||6|| One who meets the True Lord obtains honor. ||6|| ਆਚਾਰਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਸਰੀਰਿ ॥ आचारा वीचारु सरीरि ॥ Ācẖārā vīcẖār sarīr. One who embodies good conduct and contemplative meditation, ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਿ ॥ आदि जुगादि सहजि मनु धीरि ॥ Āḏ jugāḏ sahj man ḏẖīr. his mind abides in intuitive poise and contentment, since the beginning of time, and throughout the ages. ਪਲ ਪੰਕਜ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥ पल पंकज महि कोटि उधारे ॥ Pal pankaj mėh kot uḏẖāre. In the twinkling of an eye, he saves millions. ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੭॥ करि किरपा गुरु मेलि पिआरे ॥७॥ Kar kirpā gur mel pi▫āre. ||7|| Have mercy on me, O my Beloved, and let me meet the Guru. ||7|| ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥ किसु आगै प्रभ तुधु सालाही ॥ Kis āgai parabẖ ṯuḏẖ sālāhī. Unto whom, O God, should I praise You? ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਮੈ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ तुधु बिनु दूजा मै को नाही ॥ Ŧuḏẖ bin ḏūjā mai ko nāhī. Without You, there is no other at all. ਜਿਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਜਾਇ ॥ जिउ तुधु भावै तिउ राखु रजाइ ॥ Ji▫o ṯuḏẖ bẖāvai ṯi▫o rākẖ rajā▫e. As it pleases You, keep me under Your Will. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਭਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੮॥੨॥ नानक सहजि भाइ गुण गाइ ॥८॥२॥ Nānak sahj bẖā▫e guṇ gā▫e. ||8||2|| Nanak, with intuitive poise and natural love, sings Your Glorious Praises. ||8||2|| ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
