ਏਹ ਭੂਪਤਿ ਰਾਣੇ ਰੰਗ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ॥ एह भूपति राणे रंग दिन चारि सुहावणा ॥ Ėh bẖūpaṯ rāṇe rang ḏin cẖār suhāvaṇā. The pleasures of kings and emperors are pleasing, but they last for only a few days. ਪਉੜੀ ॥ पउड़ी ॥ Pa▫oṛī. Pauree: ਚਲਦਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਾਪ ਲੈ ਜਾਵਣਾ ॥ चलदिआ नालि न चलै सिरि पाप लै जावणा ॥ Cẖalḏi▫ā nāl na cẖalai sir pāp lai jāvṇā. They do not go with him when he departs; instead, he carries the load of sins upon his head. ਏਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਣਾ ॥ एहु माइआ रंगु कसु्मभ खिन महि लहि जावणा ॥ Ėhu mā▫i▫ā rang kasumbẖ kẖin mėh lėh jāvṇā. These pleasures of Maya are like the color of the safflower, which wears off in a moment. ਜਾਂ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਕਾਲਿ ਤਾਂ ਖਰਾ ਡਰਾਵਣਾ ॥ जां पकड़ि चलाइआ कालि तां खरा डरावणा ॥ Jāʼn pakaṛ cẖalā▫i▫ā kāl ṯāʼn kẖarā darāvaṇā. When death seizes him, and marches him away, then he looks absolutely hideous. ਓਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਥਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਣਾ ॥੬॥ ओह वेला हथि न आवै फिरि पछुतावणा ॥६॥ Oh velā hath na āvai fir pacẖẖuṯāvṇā. ||6|| That lost opportunity will not come into his hands again, and in the end, he regrets and repents. ||6||
