ਤਗੁ ਨ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਤਗੁ ਨ ਨਾਰੀ ॥ तगु न इंद्री तगु न नारी ॥ Ŧag na inḏrī ṯag na nārī. There is no sacred thread for the sexual organ, and no thread for woman. ਮਃ ੧ ॥ मः १ ॥ Mėhlā 1. First Mehl: ਭਲਕੇ ਥੁਕ ਪਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਦਾੜੀ ॥ भलके थुक पवै नित दाड़ी ॥ Bẖalke thuk pavai niṯ ḏāṛī. The man's beard is spat upon daily. ਤਗੁ ਨ ਪੈਰੀ ਤਗੁ ਨ ਹਥੀ ॥ तगु न पैरी तगु न हथी ॥ Ŧag na pairī ṯag na hathī. There is no sacred thread for the feet, and no thread for the hands; ਵਟਿ ਧਾਗੇ ਅਵਰਾ ਘਤੈ ॥ वटि धागे अवरा घतै ॥ vat ḏẖāge avrā gẖaṯai. Twisting the threads, he puts them on others. ਵੇਤਗਾ ਆਪੇ ਵਤੈ ॥ वेतगा आपे वतै ॥ veṯgā āpe vaṯai. The Brahmin himself goes to the world hereafter without a sacred thread. ਤਗੁ ਨ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਤਗੁ ਨ ਅਖੀ ॥ तगु न जिहवा तगु न अखी ॥ Ŧag na jihvā ṯag na akẖī. no thread for the tongue, and no thread for the eyes. ਲੈ ਭਾੜਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਆਹੁ ॥ लै भाड़ि करे वीआहु ॥ Lai bẖāṛ kare vī▫āhu. He takes payment for performing marriages; ਕਢਿ ਕਾਗਲੁ ਦਸੇ ਰਾਹੁ ॥ कढि कागलु दसे राहु ॥ Kadẖ kāgal ḏase rāhu. reading their horoscopes, he shows them the way. ਸੁਣਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਲੋਕਾ ਏਹੁ ਵਿਡਾਣੁ ॥ सुणि वेखहु लोका एहु विडाणु ॥ Suṇ vekẖhu lokā ehu vidāṇ. Hear, and see, O people, this wondrous thing. ਮਨਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਨਾਉ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥੪॥ मनि अंधा नाउ सुजाणु ॥४॥ Man anḏẖā nā▫o sujāṇ. ||4|| He is mentally blind, and yet his name is wisdom. ||4||
