ਜਾ ਕਉ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਅਸੰਖ ਮੁਨੀ ਅਨੇਕ ਤਪੇ ॥ जा कउ खोजहि असंख मुनी अनेक तपे ॥ Jā ka▫o kẖojėh asaʼnkẖ munī anek ṯape. Countless silent sages and innumerable ascetics seek Him; ਛੰਤ ॥ छंत ॥ Cẖẖanṯ. Chhant: ਜਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਕਿਰਿਆ ਪੂਜਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਸੋਧਨ ਬੰਦਨਾ ॥ जप ताप संजम किरिआ पूजा अनिक सोधन बंदना ॥ Jap ṯāp sanjam kiri▫ā pūjā anik soḏẖan banḏnā. Through chanting, deep meditation, strict and austere self-discipline, religious rituals, sincere worship, endless purifications and humble salutations, ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਾਪ ਜਪੇ ॥ ब्रहमे कोटि अराधहि गिआनी जाप जपे ॥ Barahme kot arāḏẖėh gi▫ānī jāp jape. millions of Brahmas meditate and adore Him; the spiritual teachers meditate and chant His Name. ਮਾਨੁਖ ਬਨੁ ਤਿਨੁ ਪਸੂ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਗਲ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਤੇ ॥ मानुख बनु तिनु पसू पंखी सगल तुझहि अराधते ॥ Mānukẖ ban ṯin pasū pankẖī sagal ṯujẖėh arāḏẖaṯe. Mortals, forests, blades of grass, animals and birds all meditate on You. ਕਰਿ ਗਵਨੁ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਤੀਰਥਹ ਮਜਨੁ ਮਿਲਨ ਕਉ ਨਿਰੰਜਨਾ ॥ करि गवनु बसुधा तीरथह मजनु मिलन कउ निरंजना ॥ Kar gavan basuḏẖā ṯīrthah majan milan ka▫o niranjanā. wandering all over the earth and bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, people seek to meet the Pure Lord. ਦਇਆਲ ਲਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਗਤੇ ॥੧॥ दइआल लाल गोबिंद नानक मिलु साधसंगति होइ गते ॥१॥ Ḏa▫i▫āl lāl gobinḏ Nānak mil sāḏẖsangaṯ ho▫e gaṯe. ||1|| The Merciful Beloved Lord, the Lord of the Universe is found; O Nanak, joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, salvation is attained. ||1|| ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਸਨ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸੰਕਰ ਜਟਾਧਾਰ ॥ कोटि बिसन अवतार संकर जटाधार ॥ Kot bisan avṯār sankar jatāḏẖār. Millions of incarnations of Vishnu and Shiva, with matted hair ਚਾਹਹਿ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਦਇਆਰ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੁਚ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ चाहहि तुझहि दइआर मनि तनि रुच अपार ॥ Cẖāhėh ṯujẖėh ḏa▫i▫ār man ṯan rucẖ apār. yearn for You, O Merciful Lord; their minds and bodies are filled with infinite longing. ਅਪਾਰ ਅਗਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਗਲ ਪੂਰਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਨੀ ॥ अपार अगम गोबिंद ठाकुर सगल पूरक प्रभ धनी ॥ Apār agam gobinḏ ṯẖākur sagal pūrak parabẖ ḏẖanī. The Lord Master, the Lord of the Universe, is infinite and unapproachable; God is the all-pervading Lord of all. ਸੁਰ ਸਿਧ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਜਖ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਗੁਣ ਭਨੀ ॥ सुर सिध गण गंधरब धिआवहि जख किंनर गुण भनी ॥ Sur siḏẖ gaṇ ganḏẖarab ḏẖi▫āvahi jakẖ kinnar guṇ bẖanī. The angels, the Siddhas, the beings of spiritual perfection, the heavenly heralds and celestial singers meditate on You. The Yakhsha demons, the guards of the divine treasures, and the Kinnars, the dancers of the god of wealth chant Your Glorious Praises. ਕੋਟਿ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਦੇਵਾ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ॥ कोटि इंद्र अनेक देवा जपत सुआमी जै जै कार ॥ Kot inḏar anek ḏevā japaṯ su▫āmī jai jai kār. Millions of Indras and countless gods and super-human beings meditate on the Lord Master and celebrate His Praises. ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਦਇਆਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੨॥ अनाथ नाथ दइआल नानक साधसंगति मिलि उधार ॥२॥ Anāth nāth ḏa▫i▫āl Nānak sāḏẖsangaṯ mil uḏẖār. ||2|| The Merciful Lord is the Master of the masterless, O Nanak; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one is saved. ||2|| ਕੋਟਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਲਖਿਮੀ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ॥ कोटि देवी जा कउ सेवहि लखिमी अनिक भाति ॥ Kot ḏevī jā ka▫o sevėh lakẖimī anik bẖāṯ. Millions of gods and goddesses of wealth serve Him in so many ways. ਗੁਪਤ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਰਾਧਹਿ ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ गुपत प्रगट जा कउ अराधहि पउण पाणी दिनसु राति ॥ Gupaṯ pargat jā ka▫o arāḏẖėh pa▫uṇ pāṇī ḏinas rāṯ. The invisible and visible beings worship Him in adoration, along with wind and water, day and night. ਨਖਿਅਤ੍ਰ ਸਸੀਅਰ ਸੂਰ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਬਸੁਧ ਗਗਨਾ ਗਾਵਏ ॥ नखिअत्र ससीअर सूर धिआवहि बसुध गगना गावए ॥ Nakẖi▫aṯar sasī▫ar sūr ḏẖi▫āvahi basuḏẖ gagnā gāv▫e. The stars, the moon and the sun meditate on Him; the earth and the sky sing to Him. ਸਗਲ ਖਾਣੀ ਸਗਲ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਏ ॥ सगल खाणी सगल बाणी सदा सदा धिआवए ॥ Sagal kẖāṇī sagal baṇī saḏā saḏā ḏẖi▫āv▫e. All the sources of creation, and all languages meditate on Him, forever and ever. ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਚਤੁਰ ਬੇਦਹ ਖਟੁ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਜਪਾਤਿ ॥ सिम्रिति पुराण चतुर बेदह खटु सासत्र जा कउ जपाति ॥ Simriṯ purāṇ cẖaṯur beḏah kẖat sāsṯar jā ka▫o japāṯ. The Simritees, the Puraanas, the four Vedas and the six Shaastras meditate on Him. ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਤਿ ॥੩॥ पतित पावन भगति वछल नानक मिलीऐ संगि साति ॥३॥ Paṯiṯ pāvan bẖagaṯ vacẖẖal Nānak milī▫ai sang sāṯ. ||3|| He is the Purifier of sinners, the Lover of His Saints; O Nanak, He is met in the Society of the Saints. ||3|| ਜੇਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਨਾਈ ਰਸਨਾ ਤੇਤ ਭਨੀ ॥ जेती प्रभू जनाई रसना तेत भनी ॥ Jeṯī parabẖū janā▫ī rasnā ṯeṯ bẖanī. As much as God has revealed to us, that much we can speak with our tongues. ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਜੋ ਸੇਵੈ ਤੇਤੀ ਨਹ ਜਾਇ ਗਨੀ ॥ अनजानत जो सेवै तेती नह जाइ गनी ॥ Anjānaṯ jo sevai ṯeṯī nah jā▫e ganī. Those unknown ones who serve You cannot be counted. ਅਵਿਗਤ ਅਗਨਤ ਅਥਾਹ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਗਲ ਮੰਝੇ ਬਾਹਰਾ ॥ अविगत अगनत अथाह ठाकुर सगल मंझे बाहरा ॥ Avigaṯ agnaṯ athāh ṯẖākur sagal manjẖe bāhrā. Imperishable, incalculable, and unfathomable is the Lord and Master; He is everywhere, inside and out. ਸਰਬ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਏਕੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਹ ਦੂਰਿ ਸੰਗੀ ਜਾਹਰਾ ॥ सरब जाचिक एकु दाता नह दूरि संगी जाहरा ॥ Sarab jācẖik ek ḏāṯā nah ḏūr sangī jāhrā. We are all beggars, He is the One and only Giver; He is not far away, but is with us, ever-present. ਵਸਿ ਭਗਤ ਥੀਆ ਮਿਲੇ ਜੀਆ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਿਤ ਗਨੀ ॥ वसि भगत थीआ मिले जीआ ता की उपमा कित गनी ॥ vas bẖagaṯ thī▫ā mile jī▫ā ṯā kī upmā kiṯ ganī. He is in the power of His devotees; those whose souls are united with Him - how can their praises be sung? ਇਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਾਏ ਸੀਸੁ ਸਾਧਹ ਧਰਿ ਚਰਨੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥ इहु दानु मानु नानकु पाए सीसु साधह धरि चरनी ॥४॥२॥५॥ Ih ḏān mān Nānak pā▫e sīs sāḏẖah ḏẖar cẖarnī. ||4||2||5|| May Nanak receive this gift and honor, of placing his head on the feet of the Holy Saints. ||4||2||5|| ਸਲੋਕ ॥ सलोक ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥ उदमु करहु वडभागीहो सिमरहु हरि हरि राइ ॥ Uḏam karahu vadbẖāgīho simrahu har har rā▫e. Make the effort, O very fortunate ones, and meditate on the Lord, the Lord King. ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ नानक जिसु सिमरत सभ सुख होवहि दूखु दरदु भ्रमु जाइ ॥१॥ Nānak jis simraṯ sabẖ sukẖ hovėh ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ bẖaram jā▫e. ||1|| O Nanak, remembering Him in meditation, you shall obtain total peace, and your pains and troubles and doubts shall depart. ||1||
