ਅਨਹਦੋ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

ਅਨਹਦੋ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ
अनहदो अनहदु वाजै रुण झुणकारे राम ॥
Anhaḏo anhaḏ vājai ruṇ jẖuṇkāre rām.
The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds with the vibrations of the celestial instruments.

ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਲਾਲ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ
मेरा मनो मेरा मनु राता लाल पिआरे राम ॥
Merā mano merā man rāṯā lāl pi▫āre rām.
My mind, my mind is imbued with the Love of my Darling Beloved.

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला १ ॥

Aasaa, First Mehl:

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੁੰਨ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ
अनदिनु राता मनु बैरागी सुंन मंडलि घरु पाइआ ॥
An▫ḏin rāṯā man bairāgī sunn mandal gẖar pā▫i▫ā.
Night and day, my detached mind remains absorbed in the Lord, and I obtain my home in the profound trance of the celestial void.

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ
आदि पुरखु अपर्मपरु पिआरा सतिगुरि अलखु लखाइआ ॥
Āḏ purakẖ aprampar pi▫ārā saṯgur alakẖ lakẖā▫i▫ā.
The True Guru has revealed to me the Primal Lord, the Infinite, my Beloved, the Unseen.

ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸਣਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ
आसणि बैसणि थिरु नाराइणु तितु मनु राता वीचारे ॥
Āsaṇ baisaṇ thir nārā▫iṇ ṯiṯ man rāṯā vīcẖāre.
The Lord's posture and His seat are permanent; my mind is absorbed in reflective contemplation upon Him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਅਨਹਦ ਰੁਣ ਝੁਣਕਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
नानक नामि रते बैरागी अनहद रुण झुणकारे ॥१॥
Nānak nām raṯe bairāgī anhaḏ ruṇ jẖuṇkāre. ||1||
O Nanak, the detached ones are imbued with His Name, the unstruck melody, and the celestial vibrations. ||1||

ਤਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਤਿਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਪੁਰੇ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ
तितु अगम तितु अगम पुरे कहु कितु बिधि जाईऐ राम ॥
Ŧiṯ agam ṯiṯ agam pure kaho kiṯ biḏẖ jā▫ī▫ai rām.
Tell me, how can I reach that unreachable, that unreachable city?

ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਸਾਰਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ
सचु संजमो सारि गुणा गुर सबदु कमाईऐ राम ॥
Sacẖ sanjamo sār guṇā gur sabaḏ kamā▫ī▫ai rām.
By practicing truthfulness and self-restraint, by contemplating His Glorious Virtues, and living the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ
सचु सबदु कमाईऐ निज घरि जाईऐ पाईऐ गुणी निधाना ॥
Sacẖ sabaḏ kamā▫ī▫ai nij gẖar jā▫ī▫ai pā▫ī▫ai guṇī niḏẖānā.
Practicing the True Word of the Shabad, one comes to the home of his own inner being, and obtains the treasure of virtue.

ਤਿਤੁ ਸਾਖਾ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਡਾਲੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ
तितु साखा मूलु पतु नही डाली सिरि सभना परधाना ॥
Ŧiṯ sākẖā mūl paṯ nahī dālī sir sabẖnā parḏẖānā.
He has no stems, roots, leaves or branches, but He is the Supreme Lord over the heads of all.

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜਮ ਥਾਕੀ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ
जपु तपु करि करि संजम थाकी हठि निग्रहि नही पाईऐ ॥
Jap ṯap kar kar sanjam thākī haṯẖ nigrahi nahī pā▫ī▫ai.
Practicing intensive meditation, chanting and self-discipline, people have grown weary; stubbornly practicing these rituals, they still have not found Him.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੋ ਰਤਨਾਗਰੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਰਤਨ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ
गुरु सागरो रतनागरु तितु रतन घणेरे राम ॥
Gur sāgro raṯnāgar ṯiṯ raṯan gẖaṇere rām.
The Guru is the ocean, the mountain of jewels, overflowing with jewels.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
नानक सहजि मिले जगजीवन सतिगुर बूझ बुझाईऐ ॥२॥
Nānak sahj mile jagjīvan saṯgur būjẖ bujẖā▫ī▫ai. ||2||
O Nanak, through spiritual wisdom, the Lord, the Life of the world, is met; the True Guru imparts this understanding. ||2||

ਕਰਿ ਮਜਨੋ ਸਪਤ ਸਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ
करि मजनो सपत सरे मन निरमल मेरे राम ॥
Kar majno sapaṯ sare man nirmal mere rām.
Take your bath in the seven seas, O my mind, and become pure.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਲਿ ਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਏ ਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਏ ਪੰਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ
निरमल जलि न्हाए जा प्रभ भाए पंच मिले वीचारे ॥
Nirmal jal nĥā▫e jā parabẖ bẖā▫e pancẖ mile vīcẖāre.
One bathes in the water of purity when it is pleasing to God, and obtains the five virtues by reflective meditation.

ਕਾਮੁ ਕਰੋਧੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਤਜਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ
कामु करोधु कपटु बिखिआ तजि सचु नामु उरि धारे ॥
Kām karoḏẖ kapat bikẖi▫ā ṯaj sacẖ nām ur ḏẖāre.
Renouncing sexual desire, anger, deceit and corruption, he enshrines the True Name in his heart.

ਹਉਮੈ ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਲਬ ਥਾਕੇ ਪਾਏ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ
हउमै लोभ लहरि लब थाके पाए दीन दइआला ॥
Ha▫umai lobẖ lahar lab thāke pā▫e ḏīn ḏa▫i▫ālā.
When the waves of ego, greed and avarice subside, he finds the Lord Master, Merciful to the meek.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
नानक गुर समानि तीरथु नही कोई साचे गुर गोपाला ॥३॥
Nānak gur samān ṯirath nahī ko▫ī sācẖe gur gopālā. ||3||
O Nanak, there is no place of pilgrimage comparable to the Guru; the True Guru is the Lord of the world. ||3||

ਹਉ ਬਨੁ ਬਨੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ
हउ बनु बनो देखि रही त्रिणु देखि सबाइआ राम ॥
Ha▫o ban bano ḏekẖ rahī ṯariṇ ḏekẖ sabā▫i▫ā rām.
I have searched the jungles and forests, and looked upon all the fields.

ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੋ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ
त्रिभवणो तुझहि कीआ सभु जगतु सबाइआ राम ॥
Ŧaribẖavṇo ṯujẖėh kī▫ā sabẖ jagaṯ sabā▫i▫ā rām.
You created the three worlds, the entire universe, everything.

ਤੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਥਿਰੁ ਥੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ
तेरा सभु कीआ तूं थिरु थीआ तुधु समानि को नाही ॥
Ŧerā sabẖ kī▫ā ṯūʼn thir thī▫ā ṯuḏẖ samān ko nāhī.
You created everything; You alone are permanent. Nothing is equal to You.

ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ
तूं दाता सभ जाचिक तेरे तुधु बिनु किसु सालाही ॥
Ŧūʼn ḏāṯā sabẖ jācẖik ṯere ṯuḏẖ bin kis sālāhī.
You are the Giver - all are Your beggars; without You, who should we praise?

ਅਣਮੰਗਿਆ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ
अणमंगिआ दानु दीजै दाते तेरी भगति भरे भंडारा ॥
Aṇmangi▫ā ḏān ḏījai ḏāṯe ṯerī bẖagaṯ bẖare bẖandārā.
You bestow Your gifts, even when we do not ask for them, O Great Giver; devotion to You is a treasure over-flowing.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
राम नाम बिनु मुकति न होई नानकु कहै वीचारा ॥४॥२॥
Rām nām bin mukaṯ na ho▫ī Nānak kahai vīcẖārā. ||4||2||
Without the Lord's Name, there is no liberation; so says Nanak, the meek. ||4||2||
