ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ आसा महला ३ ॥ Aasaa mėhlaa 3. Aasaa, Third Mehl: ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਇਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ गुरु साइरु सतिगुरु सचु सोइ ॥ Gur saa▫ir saṫgur sach so▫é. The Guru is the Ocean; the True Guru is the Embodiment of Truth. ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ पूरै भागि गुर सेवा होइ ॥ Pooræ bʰaag gur sévaa ho▫é. Through perfect good destiny, one serves the Guru. ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥ सो बूझै जिसु आपि बुझाए ॥ So boojʰæ jis aap bujʰaa▫é. He alone understands whom the Lord Himself inspires to understand. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੧॥ गुर परसादी सेव कराए ॥१॥ Gur parsaadee sév karaa▫é. ||1|| By Guru’s Grace, one serves Him. ||1|| ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ गिआन रतनि सभ सोझी होइ ॥ Gi▫aan raṫan sabʰ sojʰee ho▫é. With the jewel of spiritual wisdom, total understanding is obtained. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर परसादि अगिआनु बिनासै अनदिनु जागै वेखै सचु सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur parsaaḋ agi▫aan binaasæ an▫ḋin jaagæ vékʰæ sach so▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o. By Guru’s Grace, ignorance is dispelled; one then remains wakeful, night and day, and beholds the True Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ पूरे गुर ते सोझी पाए ॥ Pooré gur ṫé sojʰee paa▫é. From the Perfect Guru, true understanding is obtained. ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥ मोहु गुमानु गुर सबदि जलाए ॥ Moh gumaan gur sabaḋ jalaa▫é. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, attachment and pride are burnt away. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ अंतरि महलु गुर सबदि पछाणै ॥ Anṫar mahal gur sabaḋ pachʰaaṇæ. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, one realizes the Lord’s Presence within. ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹੈ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥੨॥ आवण जाणु रहै थिरु नामि समाणे ॥२॥ Aavaṇ jaaṇ rahæ ṫʰir naam samaaṇé. ||2|| Then, one’s coming and going cease, and one becomes stable, absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2|| ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥ जंमणु मरणा है संसारु ॥ Jamaṇ marṇaa hæ sansaar. The world is tied to birth and death. ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥ मनमुखु अचेतु माइआ मोहु गुबारु ॥ Manmukʰ achéṫ maa▫i▫aa moh gubaar. The unconscious, self-willed Manmukh is enveloped in the darkness of Maya and emotional attachment. ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਹੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥ पर निंदा बहु कूड़ु कमावै ॥ Par ninḋaa baho kooṛ kamaavæ. He slanders others, and practices utter falsehood. ਵਿਸਟਾ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ विसटा का कीड़ा विसटा माहि समावै ॥३॥ vistaa kaa keeṛaa vistaa maahi samaavæ. ||3|| He is a maggot in manure, and into manure he is absorbed. ||3|| ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥ सतसंगति मिलि सभ सोझी पाए ॥ Saṫsangaṫ mil sabʰ sojʰee paa▫é. Joining the True Congregation, the Sat Sangat, total understanding is obtained. ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ भाणा मंने सदा सुखु होइ ॥ Bʰaaṇaa manné saḋaa sukʰ ho▫é. One who surrenders to the Lord’s Will is peaceful forever. ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥ गुर का सबदु हरि भगति द्रिड़ाए ॥ Gur kaa sabaḋ har bʰagaṫ driṛ▫aa▫é. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, devotional love for the Lord is implanted. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੯॥ नानक सचि समावै सोइ ॥४॥१०॥४९॥ Naanak sach samaavæ so▫é. ||4||10||49|| O Nanak! He is absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||10||49||
