ਏਕੋ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਕਮਲ ਅਨੂਪ ॥ एको सरवरु कमल अनूप ॥ Ėko sarvar kamal anūp. In the pool is the one incomparably beautiful lotus. ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ आसा महला १ ॥ Āsā mėhlā 1. Aasaa, First Mehl: ਸਦਾ ਬਿਗਾਸੈ ਪਰਮਲ ਰੂਪ ॥ सदा बिगासै परमल रूप ॥ Saḏā bigāsai parmal rūp. It blossoms continually; its form is pure and fragrant. ਊਜਲ ਮੋਤੀ ਚੂਗਹਿ ਹੰਸ ॥ ऊजल मोती चूगहि हंस ॥ Ūjal moṯī cẖūgėh hans. The swans pick up the bright jewels. ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਜਗਦੀਸੈ ਅੰਸ ॥੧॥ सरब कला जगदीसै अंस ॥१॥ Sarab kalā jagḏīsai aʼns. ||1|| They take on the essence of the All-powerful Lord of the Universe. ||1|| ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਨਸੈ ॥ जो दीसै सो उपजै बिनसै ॥ Jo ḏīsai so upjai binsai. Whoever is seen, is subject to birth and death. ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਸਰਵਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ बिनु जल सरवरि कमलु न दीसै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Bin jal sarvar kamal na ḏīsai. ||1|| rahā▫o. In the pool without water, the lotus is not seen. ||1||Pause|| ਬਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਪਾਵੈ ਭੇਦੁ ॥ बिरला बूझै पावै भेदु ॥ Birlā būjẖai pāvai bẖeḏ. How rare are those who know and understand this secret. ਸਾਖਾ ਤੀਨਿ ਕਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਬੇਦੁ ॥ साखा तीनि कहै नित बेदु ॥ Sākẖā ṯīn kahai niṯ beḏ. The Vedas continually speak of the three branches. ਨਾਦ ਬਿੰਦ ਕੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ नाद बिंद की सुरति समाइ ॥ Nāḏ binḏ kī suraṯ samā▫e. One who merges into the knowledge of the Lord as absolute and related, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ सतिगुरु सेवि परम पदु पाइ ॥२॥ Saṯgur sev param paḏ pā▫e. ||2|| serves the True Guru and obtains the supreme status. ||2|| ਮੁਕਤੋ ਰਾਤਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵਾਂਤਉ ॥ मुकतो रातउ रंगि रवांतउ ॥ Mukṯo rāṯa▫o rang ravāʼnṯa▫o. One who is imbued with the Love of the Lord and dwells continually upon Him is liberated. ਰਾਜਨ ਰਾਜਿ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਗਸਾਂਤਉ ॥ राजन राजि सदा बिगसांतउ ॥ Rājan rāj saḏā bigsāʼnṯa▫o. He is the king of kings, and blossoms forth continually. ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥ त्रिभवण महि जोति त्रिभवण महि जाणिआ ॥ Ŧaribẖavaṇ mėh joṯ ṯaribẖavaṇ mėh jāṇi▫ā. Your Light is pervading the three worlds; I know that You are permeating the three worlds. ਬੂਡਤ ਪਾਹਨ ਤਾਰਹਿ ਤਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ बूडत पाहन तारहि तारि ॥३॥ Būdaṯ pāhan ṯārėh ṯār. ||3|| even the sinking stone - You float that one across. ||3|| ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ जिसु तूं राखहि किरपा धारि ॥ Jis ṯūʼn rākẖahi kirpā ḏẖār. That one whom You preserve, by bestowing Your Mercy, O Lord, ਉਲਟ ਭਈ ਘਰੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਣਿਆ ॥ उलट भई घरु घर महि आणिआ ॥ Ulat bẖa▫ī gẖar gẖar mėh āṇi▫ā. When my mind turned away from Maya, I came to dwell in my own home. ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ अहिनिसि भगति करे लिव लाइ ॥ Ahinis bẖagaṯ kare liv lā▫e. He who immerses himself in the Lord's Love and performs devotional worship day and night, ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥ नानकु तिन कै लागै पाइ ॥४॥१२॥ Nānak ṯin kai lāgai pā▫e. ||4||12|| Nanak falls at the feet of that person. ||4||12||
