Raag Gauree, T'hitee ~ The Lunar Days Of Kabeer Jee: ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥ सलोकु ॥ Salok. Shalok: ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿਤੀ ਸਾਤ ਵਾਰ ॥ पंद्रह थितीं सात वार ॥ Panḏrėh thiṯīʼn sāṯ vār. There are fifteen lunar days, and seven days of the week. ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਉਰਵਾਰ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥ कहि कबीर उरवार न पार ॥ Kahi Kabīr urvār na pār. Says Kabeer, it is neither here nor there. ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਲਖੈ ਜਉ ਭੇਉ ॥ साधिक सिध लखै जउ भेउ ॥ Sāḏẖik siḏẖ lakẖai ja▫o bẖe▫o. When the Siddhas and seekers come to know the Lord's mystery, ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਉ ॥੧॥ आपे करता आपे देउ ॥१॥ Āpe karṯā āpe ḏe▫o. ||1|| they themselves become the Creator; they themselves become the Divine Lord. ||1|| ਥਿਤੀ ॥ थितीं ॥ Thiṯīʼn. T'hitee: ਅੰਮਾਵਸ ਮਹਿ ਆਸ ਨਿਵਾਰਹੁ ॥ अमावस महि आस निवारहु ॥ Ammāvas mėh ās nivārahu. On the day of the new moon, give up your hopes. ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰਹੁ ॥ अंतरजामी रामु समारहु ॥ Anṯarjāmī rām samārahu. Remember the Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ਜੀਵਤ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰ ॥ जीवत पावहु मोख दुआर ॥ Jīvaṯ pāvhu mokẖ ḏu▫ār. You shall attain the Gate of Liberation while yet alive. ਅਨਭਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਤਤੁ ਨਿਜੁ ਸਾਰ ॥੧॥ अनभउ सबदु ततु निजु सार ॥१॥ Anbẖa▫o sabaḏ ṯaṯ nij sār. ||1|| You shall come to know the Shabad, the Word of the Fearless Lord, and the essence of your own inner being. ||1|| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ चरन कमल गोबिंद रंगु लागा ॥ Cẖaran kamal gobinḏ rang lāgā. One who enshrines love for the Lotus Feet of the Lord of the Universe - ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਭਏ ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ संत प्रसादि भए मन निरमल हरि कीरतन महि अनदिनु जागा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Sanṯ parsāḏ bẖa▫e man nirmal har kīrṯan mėh an▫ḏin jāgā. ||1|| rahā▫o. by the Grace of the Saints, her mind becomes pure; night and day, she remains awake and aware, singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||Pause|| ਪਰਿਵਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ परिवा प्रीतम करहु बीचार ॥ Parivā parīṯam karahu bīcẖār. On the first day of the lunar cycle, contemplate the Beloved Lord. ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲੈ ਅਘਟ ਅਪਾਰ ॥ घट महि खेलै अघट अपार ॥ Gẖat mėh kẖelai agẖat apār. He is playing within the heart; He has no body - He is Infinite. ਕਾਲ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਖਾਇ ॥ काल कलपना कदे न खाइ ॥ Kāl kalpanā kaḏe na kẖā▫e. The pain of death never consumes that person ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਮਹਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ आदि पुरख महि रहै समाइ ॥२॥ Āḏ purakẖ mėh rahai samā▫e. ||2|| who remains absorbed in the Primal Lord God. ||2|| ਦੁਤੀਆ ਦੁਹ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਗ ॥ दुतीआ दुह करि जानै अंग ॥ Ḏuṯī▫ā ḏuh kar jānai ang. On the second day of the lunar cycle, know that there are two beings within the fiber of the body. ਮਾਇਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਰਮੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗ ॥ माइआ ब्रहम रमै सभ संग ॥ Mā▫i▫ā barahm ramai sabẖ sang. Maya and God are blended with everything. ਨਾ ਓਹੁ ਬਢੈ ਨ ਘਟਤਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ ना ओहु बढै न घटता जाइ ॥ Nā oh badẖai na gẖatṯā jā▫e. God does not increase or decrease. ਅਕੁਲ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਇ ॥੩॥ अकुल निरंजन एकै भाइ ॥३॥ Akul niranjan ekai bẖā▫e. ||3|| He is unknowable and immaculate; He does not change. ||3|| ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਆ ਤੀਨੇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਲਿਆਵੈ ॥ त्रितीआ तीने सम करि लिआवै ॥ Ŧariṯī▫ā ṯīne sam kar li▫āvai. On the third day of the lunar cycle, one who maintains his equilibrium amidst the three modes ਆਨਦ ਮੂਲ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ आनद मूल परम पदु पावै ॥ Ānaḏ mūl param paḏ pāvai. finds the source of ecstasy and the highest status. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸ ॥ साधसंगति उपजै बिस्वास ॥ Sāḏẖsangaṯ upjai bisvās. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, faith wells up. ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥੪॥ बाहरि भीतरि सदा प्रगास ॥४॥ Bāhar bẖīṯar saḏā pargās. ||4|| Outwardly, and deep within, God's Light is always radiant. ||4|| ਚਉਥਹਿ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਗਹਹੁ ॥ चउथहि चंचल मन कउ गहहु ॥ Cẖa▫othahi cẖancẖal man ka▫o gahhu. On the fourth day of the lunar cycle, restrain your fickle mind, ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬਹੁ ਨ ਬਹਹੁ ॥ काम क्रोध संगि कबहु न बहहु ॥ Kām kroḏẖ sang kabahu na bahhu. and do not ever associate with sexual desire or anger. ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਾਹੇ ਆਪਹਿ ਆਪ ॥ जल थल माहे आपहि आप ॥ Jal thal māhe āpėh āp. On land and sea, He Himself is in Himself. ਆਪੈ ਜਪਹੁ ਆਪਨਾ ਜਾਪ ॥੫॥ आपै जपहु आपना जाप ॥५॥ Āpai japahu āpnā jāp. ||5|| He Himself meditates and chants His Chant. ||5|| ਪਾਂਚੈ ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥ पांचै पंच तत बिसथार ॥ Pāʼncẖai pancẖ ṯaṯ bisthār. On the fifth day of the lunar cycle, the five elements expand outward. ਕਨਿਕ ਕਾਮਿਨੀ ਜੁਗ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥ कनिक कामिनी जुग बिउहार ॥ Kanik kāminī jug bi▫uhār. Men are occupied in the pursuit of gold and women. ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸੁਧਾ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ प्रेम सुधा रसु पीवै कोइ ॥ Parem suḏẖā ras pīvai ko▫e. How rare are those who drink in the pure essence of the Lord's Love. ਜਰਾ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੬॥ जरा मरण दुखु फेरि न होइ ॥६॥ Jarā maraṇ ḏukẖ fer na ho▫e. ||6|| They shall never again suffer the pains of old age and death. ||6|| ਛਠਿ ਖਟੁ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਛਹੂੰ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਇ ॥ छठि खटु चक्र छहूं दिस धाइ ॥ Cẖẖaṯẖ kẖat cẖakar cẖẖahū▫aʼn ḏis ḏẖā▫e. On the sixth day of the lunar cycle, the six chakras run in six directions. ਬਿਨੁ ਪਰਚੈ ਨਹੀ ਥਿਰਾ ਰਹਾਇ ॥ बिनु परचै नही थिरा रहाइ ॥ Bin parcẖai nahī thirā rahā▫e. Without enlightenment, the body does not remain steady. ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮੇਟਿ ਖਿਮਾ ਗਹਿ ਰਹਹੁ ॥ दुबिधा मेटि खिमा गहि रहहु ॥ Ḏubiḏẖā met kẖimā gėh rahhu. So erase your duality and hold tight to forgiveness, ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਕੀ ਸੂਲ ਨ ਸਹਹੁ ॥੭॥ करम धरम की सूल न सहहु ॥७॥ Karam ḏẖaram kī sūl na sahhu. ||7|| and you will not have to endure the torture of karma or religious rituals. ||7|| ਸਾਤੈਂ ਸਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਚਾ ਜਾਣਿ ॥ सातैं सति करि बाचा जाणि ॥ Sāṯaiʼn saṯ kar bācẖā jāṇ. On the seventh day of the lunar cycle, know the Word as True, ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਪਰਵਾਣਿ ॥ आतम रामु लेहु परवाणि ॥ Āṯam rām leho parvāṇ. and you shall be accepted by the Lord, the Supreme Soul. ਛੂਟੈ ਸੰਸਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਦੁਖ ॥ छूटै संसा मिटि जाहि दुख ॥ Cẖẖūtai sansā mit jāhi ḏukẖ. Your doubts shall be eradicated, and your pains eliminated, ਸੁੰਨ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਖ ॥੮॥ सुंन सरोवरि पावहु सुख ॥८॥ Sunn sarovar pāvhu sukẖ. ||8|| and in the ocean of the celestial void, you shall find peace. ||8|| ਅਸਟਮੀ ਅਸਟ ਧਾਤੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਇਆ ॥ असटमी असट धातु की काइआ ॥ Astamī asat ḏẖāṯ kī kā▫i▫ā. On the eighth day of the lunar cycle, the body is made of the eight ingredients. ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਅਕੁਲ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥ ता महि अकुल महा निधि राइआ ॥ Ŧā mėh akul mahā niḏẖ rā▫i▫ā. Within it is the Unknowable Lord, the King of the supreme treasure. ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਬਤਾਵੈ ਭੇਦ ॥ गुर गम गिआन बतावै भेद ॥ Gur gam gi▫ān baṯāvai bẖeḏ. The Guru, who knows this spiritual wisdom, reveals the secret of this mystery. ਉਲਟਾ ਰਹੈ ਅਭੰਗ ਅਛੇਦ ॥੯॥ उलटा रहै अभंग अछेद ॥९॥ Ultā rahai abẖang acẖẖeḏ. ||9|| Turning away from the world, He abides in the Unbreakable and Impenetrable Lord. ||9|| ਨਉਮੀ ਨਵੈ ਦੁਆਰ ਕਉ ਸਾਧਿ ॥ नउमी नवै दुआर कउ साधि ॥ Na▫umī navai ḏu▫ār ka▫o sāḏẖ. On the ninth day of the lunar cycle, discipline the nine gates of the body. ਬਹਤੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਬਾਂਧਿ ॥ बहती मनसा राखहु बांधि ॥ Bahṯī mansā rākẖo bāʼnḏẖ. Keep your pulsating desires restrained. ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਸਭ ਬੀਸਰਿ ਜਾਹੁ ॥ लोभ मोह सभ बीसरि जाहु ॥ Lobẖ moh sabẖ bīsar jāhu. Forget all your greed and emotional attachment; ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਅਮਰ ਫਲ ਖਾਹੁ ॥੧੦॥ जुगु जुगु जीवहु अमर फल खाहु ॥१०॥ Jug jug jīvhu amar fal kẖāhu. ||10|| you shall live throughout the ages, eating the fruit of immortality. ||10|| ਦਸਮੀ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦ ॥ दसमी दह दिस होइ अनंद ॥ Ḏasmī ḏah ḏis ho▫e anand. On the tenth day of the lunar cycle, there is ecstasy in all directions. ਛੂਟੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥ छूटै भरमु मिलै गोबिंद ॥ Cẖẖūtai bẖaram milai gobinḏ. Doubt is dispelled, and the Lord of the Universe is met. ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਤਤ ਅਨੂਪ ॥ जोति सरूपी तत अनूप ॥ Joṯ sarūpī ṯaṯ anūp. He is the Embodiment of light, the incomparable essence. ਅਮਲ ਨ ਮਲ ਨ ਛਾਹ ਨਹੀ ਧੂਪ ॥੧੧॥ अमल न मल न छाह नही धूप ॥११॥ Amal na mal na cẖẖāh nahī ḏẖūp. ||11|| He is stainless, without stain, beyond both sunshine and shade. ||11|| ਏਕਾਦਸੀ ਏਕ ਦਿਸ ਧਾਵੈ ॥ एकादसी एक दिस धावै ॥ Ėkāḏasī ek ḏis ḏẖāvai. On the eleventh day of the lunar cycle, if you run in the direction of the One, ਤਉ ਜੋਨੀ ਸੰਕਟ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ तउ जोनी संकट बहुरि न आवै ॥ Ŧa▫o jonī sankat bahur na āvai. you will not have to suffer the pains of reincarnation again. ਸੀਤਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਇਆ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥ सीतल निरमल भइआ सरीरा ॥ Sīṯal nirmal bẖa▫i▫ā sarīrā. Your body will become cool, immaculate and pure. ਦੂਰਿ ਬਤਾਵਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਨੀਰਾ ॥੧੨॥ दूरि बतावत पाइआ नीरा ॥१२॥ Ḏūr baṯāvaṯ pā▫i▫ā nīrā. ||12|| The Lord was said to be far away, but He is found near at hand. ||12|| ਬਾਰਸਿ ਬਾਰਹ ਉਗਵੈ ਸੂਰ ॥ बारसि बारह उगवै सूर ॥ Bāras bārah ugvai sūr. On the twelfth day of the lunar cycle, twelve suns rise. ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਤੂਰ ॥ अहिनिसि बाजे अनहद तूर ॥ Ahinis bāje anhaḏ ṯūr. Day and night, the celestial bugles vibrate the unstruck melody. ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਹੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਕਾ ਪੀਉ ॥ देखिआ तिहूं लोक का पीउ ॥ Ḏekẖi▫ā ṯihū▫aʼn lok kā pī▫o. Then, one beholds the Father of the three worlds. ਅਚਰਜੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਤੇ ਸੀਉ ॥੧੩॥ अचरजु भइआ जीव ते सीउ ॥१३॥ Acẖraj bẖa▫i▫ā jīv ṯe sī▫o. ||13|| This is wonderful! The human being has become God! ||13|| ਤੇਰਸਿ ਤੇਰਹ ਅਗਮ ਬਖਾਣਿ ॥ तेरसि तेरह अगम बखाणि ॥ Ŧeras ṯerah agam bakẖāṇ. On the thirteenth day of the lunar cycle, the thirteen holy books proclaim ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਬਿਚਿ ਸਮ ਪਹਿਚਾਣਿ ॥ अरध उरध बिचि सम पहिचाणि ॥ Araḏẖ uraḏẖ bicẖ sam pėhcẖāṇ. that you must recognize the Lord in the nether regions of the underworld as well as the heavens. ਨੀਚ ਊਚ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨ ਅਮਾਨ ॥ नीच ऊच नही मान अमान ॥ Nīcẖ ūcẖ nahī mān amān. There is no high or low, no honor or dishonor. ਬਿਆਪਿਕ ਰਾਮ ਸਗਲ ਸਾਮਾਨ ॥੧੪॥ बिआपिक राम सगल सामान ॥१४॥ Bi▫āpik rām sagal sāmān. ||14|| The Lord is pervading and permeating all. ||14|| ਚਉਦਸਿ ਚਉਦਹ ਲੋਕ ਮਝਾਰਿ ॥ चउदसि चउदह लोक मझारि ॥ Cẖa▫uḏas cẖa▫oḏah lok majẖār. On the fourteenth day of the lunar cycle, in the fourteen worlds ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਮਹਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥ रोम रोम महि बसहि मुरारि ॥ Rom rom mėh basėh murār. and on each and every hair, the Lord abides. ਸਤ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਕਾ ਧਰਹੁ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ सत संतोख का धरहु धिआन ॥ Saṯ sanṯokẖ kā ḏẖarahu ḏẖi▫ān. Center yourself and meditate on truth and contentment. ਕਥਨੀ ਕਥੀਐ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨ ॥੧੫॥ कथनी कथीऐ ब्रहम गिआन ॥१५॥ Kathnī kathī▫ai barahm gi▫ān. ||15|| Speak the speech of God's spiritual wisdom. ||15|| ਪੂਨਿਉ ਪੂਰਾ ਚੰਦ ਅਕਾਸ ॥ पूनिउ पूरा चंद अकास ॥ Pūni▫o pūrā cẖanḏ akās. On the day of the full moon, the full moon fills the heavens. ਪਸਰਹਿ ਕਲਾ ਸਹਜ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ पसरहि कला सहज परगास ॥ Pasrahi kalā sahj pargās. Its power is diffused through its gentle light. ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਿਆ ਥੀਰ ॥ आदि अंति मधि होइ रहिआ थीर ॥ Āḏ anṯ maḏẖ ho▫e rahi▫ā thīr. In the beginning, in the end, and in the middle, God remains firm and steady. ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਮਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ॥੧੬॥ सुख सागर महि रमहि कबीर ॥१६॥ Sukẖ sāgar mėh ramėh Kabīr. ||16|| Kabeer is immersed in the ocean of peace. ||16||
