ਅਧਿਆਤਮ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸਾਚਾ ॥ अधिआतम करम करे ता साचा ॥ Aḋʰi▫aaṫam karam karé ṫaa saachaa. Those who live a spiritual lifestyle - they alone are true. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ गउड़ी महला १ ॥ Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 1. Gauree, First Mehl: ਐਸਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥ ऐसा जोगी जुगति बीचारै ॥ Æsaa jogee jugaṫ beechaaræ. Those who contemplate the Way are Yogis. ਮੁਕਤਿ ਭੇਦੁ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਾਚਾ ॥੧॥ मुकति भेदु किआ जाणै काचा ॥१॥ Mukaṫ bʰéḋ ki▫aa jaaṇæ kaachaa. ||1|| What can the false know about the secrets of liberation? ||1|| ਪੰਚ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ पंच मारि साचु उरि धारै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Panch maar saach ur ḋʰaaræ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. They conquer the five thieves, and enshrine the True Lord in the heart. ||1||Pause|| ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥ जोग जुगति की कीमति पावै ॥२॥ Jog jugaṫ kee keemaṫ paavæ. ||2|| realize the value of the Way of Yoga. ||2|| ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਸਾਵੈ ॥ जिस कै अंतरि साचु वसावै ॥ Jis kæ anṫar saach vasaavæ. Those who enshrine the True Lord deep within, ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਏਕੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਉਦਿਆਨੈ ॥ रवि ससि एको ग्रिह उदिआनै ॥ Rav sas éko garih uḋi▫aanæ. The sun and the moon are one and the same for them, as are household and wilderness. ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਮ ਸਮਾਨੈ ॥੩॥ करणी कीरति करम समानै ॥३॥ Karṇee keeraṫ karam samaanæ. ||3|| The karma of their daily practice is to praise the Lord. ||3|| ਏਕ ਸਬਦ ਇਕ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਮਾਗੈ ॥ एक सबद इक भिखिआ मागै ॥ Ék sabaḋ ik bʰikʰi▫aa maagæ. They beg for the alms of the one and only Shabad. ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਗੈ ॥੪॥ गिआनु धिआनु जुगति सचु जागै ॥४॥ Gi▫aan ḋʰi▫aan jugaṫ sach jaagæ. ||4|| They remain awake and aware of spiritual wisdom and meditation, and the true way of life. ||4|| ਭੈ ਰਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ भै रचि रहै न बाहरि जाइ ॥ Bʰæ rach rahæ na baahar jaa▫é. They remain absorbed in the fear of God; they never leave it. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥ गुर परसादि परम पदु पाए ॥६॥ Gur parsaaḋ param paḋ paa▫é. ||6|| By Guru’s Grace, the supreme-status is obtained. ||6|| ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥ आपे मेले भरमु चुकाए ॥ Aapé mélé bʰaram chukaa▫é. The Lord unites them with Himself, dispelling their doubts. ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਉਣ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੫॥ कीमति कउण रहै लिव लाइ ॥५॥ Keemaṫ ka▫uṇ rahæ liv laa▫é. ||5|| Who can estimate their value? They remain lovingly absorbed in the Lord. ||5|| ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ गुर की सेवा सबदु वीचारु ॥ Gur kee sévaa sabaḋ veechaar. In the Guru’s service is reflection upon the Shabad. ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੭॥ हउमै मारे करणी सारु ॥७॥ Ha▫umæ maaré karṇee saar. ||7|| Subduing ego, practice pure actions. ||7|| ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਪਾਠ ਪੁਰਾਣੁ ॥ जप तप संजम पाठ पुराणु ॥ Jap ṫap sanjam paatʰ puraaṇ. Chanting, meditation, austere self-discipline and the reading of the Puranas, ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੮॥੬॥ कहु नानक अपर्मपर मानु ॥८॥६॥ Kaho Naanak aprampar maan. ||8||6|| says Nanak, are contained in surrender to the Unlimited Lord. ||8||6||
