ਸੁ ਥਾਉ ਸਚੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ सु थाउ सचु मनु निरमलु होइ ॥ So ṫʰaa▫o sach man nirmal ho▫é. True is that place, where the mind becomes pure. ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ३ ॥ Ga▫oṛee gu▫aaréree mėhlaa 3. Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl: ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਪੈ ॥ सची बाणी जुग चारे जापै ॥ Sachee baṇee jug chaaré jaapæ. The True Bani of the Word is known throughout the four ages. ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥੧॥ सभु किछु साचा आपे आपै ॥१॥ Sabʰ kichʰ saachaa aapé aapæ. ||1|| The True One Himself is everything. ||1|| ਸਚਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ सचि निवासु करे सचु सोइ ॥ Sach nivaas karé sach so▫é. True is the one who abides in Truth. ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ करमु होवै सतसंगि मिलाए ॥ Karam hovæ saṫsang milaa▫é. Through the karma of good actions, one joins the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਬੈਸਿ ਸੁ ਥਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ हरि गुण गावै बैसि सु थाए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Har guṇ gaavæ bæs so ṫʰaa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Sing the Glories of the Lord, sitting in that place. ||1||Pause|| ਜਲਉ ਇਹ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ जलउ इह जिहवा दूजै भाइ ॥ Jala▫o ih jihvaa ḋoojæ bʰaa▫é. Burn this tongue, which loves duality, ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨ ਚਾਖੈ ਫੀਕਾ ਆਲਾਇ ॥ हरि रसु न चाखै फीका आलाइ ॥ Har ras na chaakʰæ feekaa aalaa▫é. which does not taste the sublime essence of the Lord, and which utters insipid words. ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ बिनु बूझे तनु मनु फीका होइ ॥ Bin boojʰé ṫan man feekaa ho▫é. Without understanding, the body and mind become tasteless and insipid. ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਚਲਿਆ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥ बिनु नावै दुखीआ चलिआ रोइ ॥२॥ Bin naavæ ḋukʰee▫aa chali▫aa ro▫é. ||2|| Without the Name, the miserable ones depart crying out in pain. ||2|| ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥ रसना हरि रसु चाखिआ सहजि सुभाइ ॥ Rasnaa har ras chaakʰi▫aa sahj subʰaa▫é. One whose tongue naturally and intuitively tastes the Lord’s sublime essence, ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥ गुर किरपा ते सचि समाइ ॥ Gur kirpaa ṫé sach samaa▫é. by Guru’s Grace, is absorbed in the True Lord. ਸਾਚੇ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥ साचे राती गुर सबदु वीचार ॥ Saaché raaṫee gur sabaḋ veechaar. Imbued with Truth, one contemplates the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਧਾਰ ॥੩॥ अमृतु पीवै निरमल धार ॥३॥ Amriṫ peevæ nirmal ḋʰaar. ||3|| and drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar, from the immaculate stream within. ||3|| ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਜੋ ਭਾਡਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ नामि समावै जो भाडा होइ ॥ Naam samaavæ jo bʰaadaa ho▫é. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is collected in the vessel of the mind. ਊਂਧੈ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਟਿਕੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥ ऊंधै भांडै टिकै न कोइ ॥ Ooⁿḋʰæ bʰaaⁿdæ tikæ na ko▫é. Nothing is collected if the vessel is upside-down. ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥ गुर सबदी मनि नामि निवासु ॥ Gur sabḋee man naam nivaas. Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, the Naam abides within the mind. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਬਦ ਪਿਆਸ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੩॥ नानक सचु भांडा जिसु सबद पिआस ॥४॥३॥२३॥ Naanak sach bʰaaⁿdaa jis sabaḋ pi▫aas. ||4||3||23|| O Nanak! True is that vessel of the mind, which thirsts for the Shabad. ||4||3||23|| ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ हउमै विचि गावहि बिरथा जाइ ॥ Ha▫umæ vich gaavahi birṫʰaa jaa▫é. In egotism, they sing, but it is wasted uselessly. ਇਕਿ ਗਾਵਤ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ इकि गावत रहे मनि सादु न पाइ ॥ Ik gaavaṫ rahé man saaḋ na paa▫é. Some sing on and on, but their minds do not find happiness.
