ਉਲਟਿਓ ਕਮਲੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥ उलटिओ कमलु ब्रहमु बीचारि ॥ Ulti▫o kamal barahm beechaar. The inverted heart-lotus has been turned upright, through reflective meditation on God. ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ गउड़ी महला १ ॥ Ga▫oṛee mėhlaa 1. Gauree, First Mehl: ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰ ਗਗਨਿ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥ अमृत धार गगनि दस दुआरि ॥ Amriṫ ḋʰaar gagan ḋas ḋu▫aar. From the Sky of the Tenth Gate, the Ambrosial Nectar trickles down. ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ त्रिभवणु बेधिआ आपि मुरारि ॥१॥ Ṫaribʰavaṇ béḋʰi▫aa aap muraar. ||1|| The Lord Himself is pervading the three worlds. ||1|| ਮਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ मनि मानिऐ अमृत रसु पीजै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Man maanee▫æ amriṫ ras peejæ. ||1|| rahaa▫o. When the mind surrenders to the Name, it drinks in the essence of Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause|| ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥ रे मन मेरे भरमु न कीजै ॥ Ré man méré bʰaram na keejæ. O my mind! Do not give in to doubt. ਜਨਮੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਮਰਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥ जनमु जीति मरणि मनु मानिआ ॥ Janam jeeṫ maraṇ man maani▫aa. So, win the game of life; let your mind surrender and accept death. ਆਪਿ ਮੂਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ आपि मूआ मनु मन ते जानिआ ॥ Aap moo▫aa man man ṫé jaani▫aa. When the self dies, the individual mind comes to know the Supreme Mind. ਨਜਰਿ ਭਈ ਘਰੁ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥ नजरि भई घरु घर ते जानिआ ॥२॥ Najar bʰa▫ee gʰar gʰar ṫé jaani▫aa. ||2|| As the inner vision is awakened, one comes to know one’s own home, deep within the self. ||2|| ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਮਜਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ॥ जतु सतु तीरथु मजनु नामि ॥ Jaṫ saṫ ṫiraṫʰ majan naam. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is austerity, chastity and cleansing baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage. ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਥਾਰੁ ਕਰਉ ਕਿਸੁ ਕਾਮਿ ॥ अधिक बिथारु करउ किसु कामि ॥ Aḋʰik biṫʰaar kara▫o kis kaam. What good are ostentatious displays? ਕਿਸੁ ਜਾਚਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਥਾਉ ॥ किसु जाचउ नाही को थाउ ॥ Kis jaacha▫o naahee ko ṫʰaa▫o. But where should I go, to beg? There is no other place for me. ਆਨ ਮਨਉ ਤਉ ਪਰ ਘਰ ਜਾਉ ॥ आन मनउ तउ पर घर जाउ ॥ Aan man▫o ṫa▫o par gʰar jaa▫o. If I have faith in another, then I would go to their house. ਨਰ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮਿ ॥੩॥ नर नाराइण अंतरजामि ॥३॥ Nar naaraa▫iṇ anṫarjaam. ||3|| The All-pervading Lord is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||3|| ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੪॥੮॥ नानक गुरमति सहजि समाउ ॥४॥८॥ Naanak gurmaṫ sahj samaa▫o. ||4||8|| O Nanak! Through the Guru’s Teachings, I am intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||4||8||
