ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਕਾਨੜਾ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਮਹਲਾ ਘਰੁ
कानड़ा असटपदीआ महला ४ घरु १
Kānṛā asatpaḏī▫ā mėhlā 4 gẖar 1
Kaanraa, Ashtapadees, Fourth Mehl, First House:

ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जिउ जिउ जपै तिवै सुखु पावै सतिगुरु सेवि समावैगो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ji▫o ji▫o japai ṯivai sukẖ pāvai saṯgur sev samāvaigo. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The more you chant and meditate, the more you will be at peace; serve the True Guru, and merge in the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ
जपि मन राम नामु सुखु पावैगो ॥
Jap man rām nām sukẖ pāvaigo.
Chant the Name of the Lord, O mind, and find peace.

ਅਨ ਰਸ ਸਾਦ ਗਏ ਸਭ ਨੀਕਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਖਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥
अन रस साद गए सभ नीकरि बिनु नावै किछु न सुखावैगो ॥१॥
An ras sāḏ ga▫e sabẖ nīkar bin nāvai kicẖẖ na sukẖāvaigo. ||1||
The taste of other pleasures is totally eradicated; nothing pleases them, except the Name. ||1||

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕੀ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਲੋਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ
भगत जनां की खिनु खिनु लोचा नामु जपत सुखु पावैगो ॥
Bẖagaṯ janāʼn kī kẖin kẖin locẖā nām japaṯ sukẖ pāvaigo.
Each and every instant, the humble devotees long for Him; chanting the Naam, they find peace.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੀਠੇ ਬਚਨ ਕਢਾਵੈਗੋ
गुरमति हरि हरि मीठा लागा गुरु मीठे बचन कढावैगो ॥
Gurmaṯ har har mīṯẖā lāgā gur mīṯẖe bacẖan kadẖāvaigo.
Following the Guru's Teachings, the Lord seems sweet to them; the Guru inspires them to speak sweet words.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੁਰਖੋਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੨॥
सतिगुर बाणी पुरखु पुरखोतम बाणी सिउ चितु लावैगो ॥२॥
Saṯgur baṇī purakẖ purkẖoṯam baṇī si▫o cẖiṯ lāvaigo. ||2||
Through the Word of the True Guru's Bani, the Primal Lord God is revealed; so focus your consciousness on His Bani. ||2||

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੁਨਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਵਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈਗੋ
गुरबाणी सुनत मेरा मनु द्रविआ मनु भीना निज घरि आवैगो ॥
Gurbāṇī sunaṯ merā man ḏarvi▫ā man bẖīnā nij gẖar āvaigo.
Hearing the Word of the Guru's Bani, my mind has been softened and saturated with it; my mind has returned to its own home deep within.

ਤਹ ਅਨਹਤ ਧੁਨੀ ਬਾਜਹਿ ਨਿਤ ਬਾਜੇ ਨੀਝਰ ਧਾਰ ਚੁਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੩॥
तह अनहत धुनी बाजहि नित बाजे नीझर धार चुआवैगो ॥३॥
Ŧah anhaṯ ḏẖunī bājėh niṯ bāje nījẖar ḏẖār cẖu▫āvaigo. ||3||
The Unstruck Melody resonates and resounds there continuously; the stream of nectar trickles down constantly. ||3||

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲ ਤਿਲ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਨੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ
राम नामु इकु तिल तिल गावै मनु गुरमति नामि समावैगो ॥
Rām nām ik ṯil ṯil gāvai man gurmaṯ nām samāvaigo.
Singing the Name of the One Lord each and every instant, and following the Guru's Teachings, the mind is absorbed in the Naam.

ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਨਾਮੋ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੪॥
नामु सुणै नामो मनि भावै नामे ही त्रिपतावैगो ॥४॥
Nām suṇai nāmo man bẖāvai nāme hī ṯaripṯāvaigo. ||4||
Listening to the Naam, the mind is pleased with the Naam, and satisfied with the Naam. ||4||

ਕਨਿਕ ਕਨਿਕ ਪਹਿਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਕੰਗਨਾ ਕਾਪਰੁ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਨਾਵੈਗੋ
कनिक कनिक पहिरे बहु कंगना कापरु भांति बनावैगो ॥
Kanik kanik pahire baho kangnā kāpar bẖāʼnṯ banāvaigo.
People wear lots of bracelets, glittering with gold; they wear all sorts of fine clothes.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸਭਿ ਫੀਕ ਫਿਕਾਨੇ ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੫॥
नाम बिना सभि फीक फिकाने जनमि मरै फिरि आवैगो ॥५॥
Nām binā sabẖ fīk fikāne janam marai fir āvaigo. ||5||
But without the Naam, they are all bland and insipid. They are born, only to die again, in the cycle of reincarnation. ||5||

ਮਾਇਆ ਪਟਲ ਪਟਲ ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ਘਰੁ ਘੂਮਨਿ ਘੇਰਿ ਘੁਲਾਵੈਗੋ
माइआ पटल पटल है भारी घरु घूमनि घेरि घुलावैगो ॥
Mā▫i▫ā patal patal hai bẖārī gẖar gẖūman gẖer gẖulāvaigo.
The veil of Maya is a thick and heavy veil, a whirlpool which destroys one's home.

ਪਾਪ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮਨੂਰ ਸਭਿ ਭਾਰੇ ਬਿਖੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਜਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੬॥
पाप बिकार मनूर सभि भारे बिखु दुतरु तरिओ न जावैगो ॥६॥
Pāp bikār manūr sabẖ bẖāre bikẖ ḏuṯar ṯari▫o na jāvaigo. ||6||
Sins and corrupt vices are totally heavy, like rusted slag. They will not let you cross over the poisonous and treacherous world-ocean. ||6||

ਭਉ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਾਵੈਗੋ
भउ बैरागु भइआ है बोहिथु गुरु खेवटु सबदि तरावैगो ॥
Bẖa▫o bairāg bẖa▫i▫ā hai bohith gur kẖevat sabaḏ ṯarāvaigo.
Let the Fear of God and neutral detachment be the boat; the Guru is the Boatman, who carries us across in the Word of the Shabad.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
राम नामु हरि भेटीऐ हरि रामै नामि समावैगो ॥७॥
Rām nām har bẖetī▫ai har rāmai nām samāvaigo. ||7||
Meeting with the Lord, the Name of the Lord, merge in the Lord, the Name of the Lord. ||7||

ਅਗਿਆਨਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਵਾਲਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੈ ਲਾਇ ਜਗਾਵੈਗੋ
अगिआनि लाइ सवालिआ गुर गिआनै लाइ जगावैगो ॥
Agi▫ān lā▫e savāli▫ā gur gi▫ānai lā▫e jagāvaigo.
Attached to ignorance, people are falling asleep; attached to the Guru's spiritual wisdom, they awaken.

ਨਾਨਕ ਭਾਣੈ ਆਪਣੈ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੧॥
नानक भाणै आपणै जिउ भावै तिवै चलावैगो ॥८॥१॥
Nānak bẖāṇai āpṇai ji▫o bẖāvai ṯivai cẖalāvaigo. ||8||1||
O Nanak, by His Will, He makes us walk as He pleases. ||8||1||
