ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ਤ ਨਉ ਕੁਲ ਬੰਧੁ ॥

ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ਨਉ ਕੁਲ ਬੰਧੁ
अजरु जरै त नउ कुल बंधु ॥
Ajar jarai ṯa na▫o kul banḏẖ.
One who bears the unbearable, controls the nine holes of the body.

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਕਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਆਇਆ ਕਹਾਂ ਏਹੁ ਜਾਣੁ
कहां ते आइआ कहां एहु जाणु ॥
Kahāʼn ṯe ā▫i▫ā kahāʼn ehu jāṇ.
Where has he come from, and where will he go?

ਪੂਜੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਹੋਵੈ ਥਿਰੁ ਕੰਧੁ
पूजै प्राण होवै थिरु कंधु ॥
Pūjai parāṇ hovai thir kanḏẖ.
One who worships and adores the Lord with his breath of life, gains stability in his body-wall.

ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
जीवत मरत रहै परवाणु ॥
Jīvaṯ maraṯ rahai parvāṇ.
Remaining dead while yet alive, he is accepted and approved.

ਹੋਂਦਾ ਫੜੀਅਗੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣੁ
होंदा फड़ीअगु नानक जाणु ॥
Hoʼnḏā faṛī▫ag Nānak jāṇ.
O Nanak, know this: egotism leads to bondage.

ਇਹੁ ਪਰਸਾਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਜਾਣੈ
इहु परसादु गुरू ते जाणै ॥
Ih parsāḏ gurū ṯe jāṇai.
This is known by Guru's Grace.

ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਤੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ
हुकमै बूझै ततु पछाणै ॥
Hukmai būjẖai ṯaṯ pacẖẖāṇai.
Whoever understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command, realizes the essence of reality.

ਨਾ ਹਉ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਜੂਨੀ ਪਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
ना हउ ना मै जूनी पाणु ॥२॥
Nā ha▫o nā mai jūnī pāṇ. ||2||
Only those who have no ego and no self-conceit, are not consigned to reincarnation. ||2||
