ਹਰਣਾਂ ਬਾਜਾਂ ਤੈ ਸਿਕਦਾਰਾਂ ਏਨੑਾ ਪੜੑਿਆ ਨਾਉ ॥ हरणां बाजां तै सिकदारां एन्हा पड़्हिआ नाउ ॥ Harṇaaⁿ baajaaⁿ ṫæ sikḋaaraaⁿ énĥaa paṛĥ▫aa naa▫o. Deer, falcons and government officials are known to be trained and clever. ਮਃ ੧ ॥ मः १ ॥ Mėhlaa 1. First Mehl: ਫਾਂਧੀ ਲਗੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਫਹਾਇਨਿ ਅਗੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥ फांधी लगी जाति फहाइनि अगै नाही थाउ ॥ Faaⁿḋʰee lagee jaaṫ fahaa▫in agæ naahee ṫʰaa▫o. When the trap is set, they trap their own kind; hereafter they will find no place of rest. ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਬੀਨਾ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਕਮਾਣਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ सो पड़िआ सो पंडितु बीना जिन्ही कमाणा नाउ ॥ So paṛi▫aa so pandiṫ beenaa jinĥee kamaaṇaa naa▫o. He alone is learned and wise, and he alone is a scholar, who practices the Name. ਪਹਿਲੋ ਦੇ ਜੜ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਤਾ ਉਪਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਛਾਂਉ ॥ पहिलो दे जड़ अंदरि जंमै ता उपरि होवै छांउ ॥ Pahilo ḋé jaṛ anḋar jammæ ṫaa upar hovæ chʰaaⁿ▫o. First, the tree puts down its roots, and then it spreads out its shade above. ਰਾਜੇ ਸੀਹ ਮੁਕਦਮ ਕੁਤੇ ॥ राजे सीह मुकदम कुते ॥ Raajé seeh mukḋam kuṫé. The kings are tigers, and their officials are dogs; ਜਾਇ ਜਗਾਇਨੑਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਸੁਤੇ ॥ जाइ जगाइन्हि बैठे सुते ॥ Jaa▫é jagaa▫iniĥ bætʰé suṫé. they go out and awaken the sleeping people to harass them. ਚਾਕਰ ਨਹਦਾ ਪਾਇਨੑਿ ਘਾਉ ॥ चाकर नहदा पाइन्हि घाउ ॥ Chaakar nahḋaa paa▫iniĥ gʰaa▫o. The public servants inflict wounds with their nails. ਰਤੁ ਪਿਤੁ ਕੁਤਿਹੋ ਚਟਿ ਜਾਹੁ ॥ रतु पितु कुतिहो चटि जाहु ॥ Raṫ piṫ kuṫiho chat jaahu. The dogs lick up the blood that is spilled. ਜਿਥੈ ਜੀਆਂ ਹੋਸੀ ਸਾਰ ॥ जिथै जीआं होसी सार ॥ Jiṫʰæ jee▫aaⁿ hosee saar. But there, in the Court of the Lord, all beings will be judged. ਨਕੀ ਵਢੀ ਲਾਇਤਬਾਰ ॥੨॥ नकीं वढीं लाइतबार ॥२॥ Nakeeⁿ vadʰeeⁿ laa▫iṫbaar. ||2|| Those who have violated the people’s trust will be disgraced; their noses will be cut off. ||2||
