One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਏ ॥ हरि हरि क्रिपा करे गुर की कारै लाए ॥ Har har kirpaa karé gur kee kaaræ laa▫é. When the Lord shows His Mercy, He enjoins the mortal to work for the Guru. ਦੁਖੁ ਪਲੑਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ॥ दुखु पल्हरि हरि नामु वसाए ॥ Ḋukʰ palĥar har naam vasaa▫é. His pains are taken away, and the Lord’s Name comes to dwell within. ਸਾਚੀ ਗਤਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥ साची गति साचै चितु लाए ॥ Saachee gaṫ saachæ chiṫ laa▫é. True deliverance comes by focusing one’s consciousness on the True Lord. ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥੧॥ गुर की बाणी सबदि सुणाए ॥१॥ Gur kee baṇee sabaḋ suṇaa▫é. ||1|| Listen to the Shabad, and the Word of the Guru’s Bani. ||1|| ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥ मन मेरे हरि हरि सेवि निधानु ॥ Man méré har har sév niḋʰaan. O my mind! Serve the Lord, Har, Har, the true treasure. ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर किरपा ते हरि धनु पाईऐ अनदिनु लागै सहजि धिआनु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur kirpaa ṫé har ḋʰan paa▫ee▫æ an▫ḋin laagæ sahj ḋʰi▫aan. ||1|| rahaa▫o. By Guru’s Grace, the wealth of the Lord is obtained. Night and day, focus your meditation on the Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ बिनु पिर कामणि करे सींगारु ॥ Bin pir kaamaṇ karé seeⁿgaar. The soul-bride who adorns herself without her Husband Lord, ਦੁਹਚਾਰਣੀ ਕਹੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ दुहचारणी कहीऐ नित होइ खुआरु ॥ Ḋuhchaarṇee kahee▫æ niṫ ho▫é kʰu▫aar. is ill-mannered and vile, wasted away into ruin. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਾ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਦਿ ਆਚਾਰੁ ॥ मनमुख का इहु बादि आचारु ॥ Manmukʰ kaa ih baaḋ aachaar. This is the useless way of life of the self-willed Manmukh. ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥੨॥ बहु करम द्रिड़ावहि नामु विसारि ॥२॥ Baho karam ḋariṛaavėh naam visaar. ||2|| Forgetting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he performs all sorts of empty rituals. ||2|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਬਣਿਆ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥ गुरमुखि कामणि बणिआ सीगारु ॥ Gurmukʰ kaamaṇ baṇi▫aa seegaar. The bride who is Gurmukh is beautifully embellished. ਸਬਦੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥ सबदे पिरु राखिआ उर धारि ॥ Sabḋé pir raakʰi▫aa ur ḋʰaar. Through the Word of the Shabad, she enshrines her Husband Lord within her heart. ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ एकु पछाणै हउमै मारि ॥ Ék pachʰaaṇæ ha▫umæ maar. She realizes the One Lord, and subdues her ego. ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਕਹੀਐ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੩॥ सोभावंती कहीऐ नारि ॥३॥ Sobʰaavanṫee kahee▫æ naar. ||3|| That soul-bride is virtuous and noble. ||3|| ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਦਾਤੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ बिनु गुर दाते किनै न पाइआ ॥ Bin gur ḋaaṫé kinæ na paa▫i▫aa. Without the Guru, the Giver, no one finds the Lord. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਲੋਭਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਇਆ ॥ मनमुख लोभि दूजै लोभाइआ ॥ Manmukʰ lobʰ ḋoojæ lobʰaa▫i▫aa. The greedy self-willed Manmukh is attracted and engrossed in duality. ਐਸੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ ऐसे गिआनी बूझहु कोइ ॥ Æsé gi▫aanee boojʰhu ko▫é. Only a few spiritual teachers realize this, ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥ बिनु गुर भेटे मुकति न होइ ॥४॥ Bin gur bʰété mukaṫ na ho▫é. ||4|| that without meeting the Guru, liberation is not obtained. ||4|| ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ कहि कहि कहणु कहै सभु कोइ ॥ Kahi kahi kahaṇ kahæ sabʰ ko▫é. Everyone tells the stories told by others. ਬਿਨੁ ਮਨ ਮੂਏ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ बिनु मन मूए भगति न होइ ॥ Bin man moo▫é bʰagaṫ na ho▫é. Without subduing the mind, devotional worship does not come. ਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਕਮਲ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥ गिआन मती कमल परगासु ॥ Gi▫aan maṫee kamal pargaas. When the intellect achieves spiritual wisdom, the heart-lotus blossoms forth. ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੫॥ तितु घटि नामै नामि निवासु ॥५॥ Ṫiṫ gʰat naamæ naam nivaas. ||5|| The Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to abide in that heart. ||5|| ਹਉਮੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ हउमै भगति करे सभु कोइ ॥ Ha▫umæ bʰagaṫ karé sabʰ ko▫é. In egotism, everyone can pretend to worship God with devotion. ਨਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥ ना मनु भीजै ना सुखु होइ ॥ Naa man bʰeejæ naa sukʰ ho▫é. But this does not soften the mind, and it does not bring peace. ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਆਪੁ ਜਾਣਾਏ ॥ कहि कहि कहणु आपु जाणाए ॥ Kahi kahi kahaṇ aap jaaṇaa▫é. By speaking and preaching, the mortal only shows off his self-conceit. ਬਿਰਥੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੬॥ बिरथी भगति सभु जनमु गवाए ॥६॥ Birṫʰee bʰagaṫ sabʰ janam gavaa▫é. ||6|| His devotional worship is useless, and his life is a total waste. ||6|| ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥ से भगत सतिगुर मनि भाए ॥ Sé bʰagaṫ saṫgur man bʰaa▫é. They alone are devotees, who are pleasing to the Mind of the True Guru. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥ अनदिनु नामि रहे लिव लाए ॥ An▫ḋin naam rahé liv laa▫é. Night and day, they remain lovingly attuned to the Name. ਸਦ ਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥ सद ही नामु वेखहि हजूरि ॥ Saḋ hee naam vékʰėh hajoor. They behold the Naam, the Name of the Lord, ever-present, near at hand. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੭॥ गुर कै सबदि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥७॥ Gur kæ sabaḋ rahi▫aa bʰarpoor. ||7|| Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, He is pervading and permeating everywhere. ||7|| ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ आपे बखसे देइ पिआरु ॥ Aapé bakʰsé ḋé▫é pi▫aar. God Himself forgives, and bestows His Love. ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਵਡਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥ हउमै रोगु वडा संसारि ॥ Ha▫umæ rog vadaa sansaar. The world is suffering from the terrible disease of egotism. ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਏਹੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਜਾਇ ॥ गुर किरपा ते एहु रोगु जाइ ॥ Gur kirpaa ṫé éhu rog jaa▫é. By Guru’s Grace, this disease is cured. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੮॥੧॥੩॥੫॥੮॥ नानक साचे साचि समाइ ॥८॥१॥३॥५॥८॥ Naanak saaché saach samaa▫é. ||8||1||3||5||8|| O Nanak! Through the Truth, the mortal remains immersed in the True Lord. ||8||1||3||5||8||
