ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਮੀਨ ਜਲ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥੧॥
चात्रिक मीन जल ही ते सुखु पावहि सारिंग सबदि सुहाई ॥१॥
Cẖāṯrik mīn jal hī ṯe sukẖ pāvahi sāring sabaḏ suhā▫ī. ||1||
The rainbird and the fish find peace in water; the deer is pleased by the sound of the bell. ||1||

ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ

Malār mėhlā 1.
Malaar, First Mehl:

ਰੈਨਿ ਬਬੀਹਾ ਬੋਲਿਓ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
रैनि बबीहा बोलिओ मेरी माई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Rain babīhā boli▫o merī mā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The rainbird chirps in the night, O my mother. ||1||Pause||

ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉਲਟੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਜੋ ਤੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ॥੨॥
प्रिअ सिउ प्रीति न उलटै कबहू जो तै भावै साई ॥२॥
Pari▫a si▫o parīṯ na ultai kabhū jo ṯai bẖāvai sā▫ī. ||2||
O my Beloved, my love for You shall never end, if it is Your Will. ||2||

ਨੀਦ ਗਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਨਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਸਚ ਮਤਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੩॥
नीद गई हउमै तनि थाकी सच मति रिदै समाई ॥३॥
Nīḏ ga▫ī ha▫umai ṯan thākī sacẖ maṯ riḏai samā▫ī. ||3||
Sleep is gone, and egotism is exhausted from my body; my heart is permeated with the Teachings of Truth. ||3||

ਰੂਖੀ ਬਿਰਖੀ ਊਡਉ ਭੂਖਾ ਪੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥੪॥
रूखीं बिरखीं ऊडउ भूखा पीवा नामु सुभाई ॥४॥
Rūkẖīʼn birkẖīʼn ūda▫o bẖūkẖā pīvā nām subẖā▫ī. ||4||
Flying among the trees and plants, I remain hungry; lovingly drinking in the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am satisfied. ||4||

ਲੋਚਨ ਤਾਰ ਲਲਤਾ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਪਿਆਸ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੫॥
लोचन तार ललता बिललाती दरसन पिआस रजाई ॥५॥
Locẖan ṯār lalṯā billāṯī ḏarsan pi▫ās rajā▫ī. ||5||
I stare at You, and my tongue cries out to You; I am so thirsty for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||5||

ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੀ ਤੇਤਾ ਤਨੁ ਤਾਪੈ ਕਾਪਰੁ ਅੰਗਿ ਸੁਹਾਈ ॥੬॥
प्रिअ बिनु सीगारु करी तेता तनु तापै कापरु अंगि न सुहाई ॥६॥
Pari▫a bin sīgār karī ṯeṯā ṯan ṯāpai kāpar ang na suhā▫ī. ||6||
Without my Beloved, the more I decorate myself, the more my body burns; these clothes do not look good on my body. ||6||

ਅਪਨੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਂਉ ਬਿਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਨੀਦ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
अपने पिआरे बिनु इकु खिनु रहि न सकंउ बिन मिले नींद न पाई ॥७॥
Apne pi▫āre bin ik kẖin rėh na sakʼna▫u bin mile nīʼnḏ na pā▫ī. ||7||
Without my Beloved, I cannot survive even for an instant; without meeting Him, I cannot sleep. ||7||

ਪਿਰੁ ਨਜੀਕਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਬਪੁੜੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥੮॥
पिरु नजीकि न बूझै बपुड़ी सतिगुरि दीआ दिखाई ॥८॥
Pir najīk na būjẖai bapuṛī saṯgur ḏī▫ā ḏikẖā▫ī. ||8||
Her Husband Lord is nearby, but the wretched bride does not know it. The True Guru reveals Him to her. ||8||

ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥੯॥
सहजि मिलिआ तब ही सुखु पाइआ त्रिसना सबदि बुझाई ॥९॥
Sahj mili▫ā ṯab hī sukẖ pā▫i▫ā ṯarisnā sabaḏ bujẖā▫ī. ||9||
When she meets Him with intuitive ease, she finds peace; the Word of the Shabad quenches the fire of desire. ||9||

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਨੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥੩॥
कहु नानक तुझ ते मनु मानिआ कीमति कहनु न जाई ॥१०॥३॥
Kaho Nānak ṯujẖ ṯe man māni▫ā kīmaṯ kahan na jā▫ī. ||10||3||
Says Nanak, through You, O Lord, my mind is pleased and appeased; I cannot express Your worth. ||10||3||
