ਜਿਚਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਹਰੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥ जिचरु इहु मनु लहरी विचि है हउमै बहुतु अहंकारु ॥ Jicẖar ih man lahrī vicẖ hai ha▫umai bahuṯ ahaʼnkār. As long as his mind is disturbed by waves, he is caught in ego and egotistical pride. ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ सलोक मः ३ ॥ Salok mėhlā 3. Shalok, Third Mehl: ਸੇਵਾ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਵਈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਖਪਿ ਖਪਿ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥ सेवा थाइ न पवई तिस की खपि खपि होइ खुआरु ॥ Sevā thā▫e na pav▫ī ṯis kī kẖap kẖap ho▫e kẖu▫ār. His service is not accepted; worrying and worrying, he wastes away in misery. ਸਬਦੈ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥ सबदै सादु न आवई नामि न लगै पिआरु ॥ Sabḏai sāḏ na āvī nām na lagai pi▫ār. He does not find the taste of the Shabad, and he does not embrace love for the Name. ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸੋਈ ਆਖੀਐ ਜੋ ਸਿਰੁ ਧਰੇ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥ नानक सेवकु सोई आखीऐ जो सिरु धरे उतारि ॥ Nānak sevak so▫ī ākẖī▫ai jo sir ḏẖare uṯār. O Nanak, he alone is called a selfless servant, who cuts off his head, and offers it to the Lord. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਲਏ ਸਬਦੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ सतिगुर का भाणा मंनि लए सबदु रखै उर धारि ॥१॥ Saṯgur kā bẖāṇā man la▫e sabaḏ rakẖai ur ḏẖār. ||1|| He accepts the Will of the True Guru, and enshrines the Shabad within his heart. ||1||
