ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲੀਅਹਿ ਤੋਲ ਜੇ ਜੀਉ ਪਿਛੈ ਪਾਈਐ ॥ नानक तुलीअहि तोल जे जीउ पिछै पाईऐ ॥ Nānak ṯulī▫ah ṯol je jī▫o picẖẖai pā▫ī▫ai. O Nanak, the weight is weighed out, when the soul is placed on the scale. ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ सलोक महला १ ॥ Salok mėhlā 1. Shalok, First Mehl: ਵਡਾ ਆਖਣੁ ਭਾਰਾ ਤੋਲੁ ॥ वडा आखणु भारा तोलु ॥ vadā ākẖaṇ bẖārā ṯol. To call Him glorious and great carries such a heavy weight. ਹੋਰ ਹਉਲੀ ਮਤੀ ਹਉਲੇ ਬੋਲ ॥ होर हउली मती हउले बोल ॥ Hor ha▫ulī maṯī ha▫ule bol. Other intellectualism is lightweight; other words are lightweight as well. ਇਕਸੁ ਨ ਪੁਜਹਿ ਬੋਲ ਜੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥ इकसु न पुजहि बोल जे पूरे पूरा करि मिलै ॥ Ikas na pujėh bol je pūre pūrā kar milai. Nothing is equal to speaking of the One, who perfectly unites us with the Perfect Lord. ਧਰਤੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਰਬਤ ਭਾਰੁ ॥ धरती पाणी परबत भारु ॥ Ḏẖarṯī pāṇī parbaṯ bẖār. The weight of the earth, water and mountains ਕਿਉ ਕੰਡੈ ਤੋਲੈ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੁ ॥ किउ कंडै तोलै सुनिआरु ॥ Ki▫o kandai ṯolai suni▫ār. NAME? ਤੋਲਾ ਮਾਸਾ ਰਤਕ ਪਾਇ ॥ तोला मासा रतक पाइ ॥ Ŧolā māsā raṯak pā▫e. What weights can balance the scale? ਨਾਨਕ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਪੁਜਾਇ ॥ नानक पुछिआ देइ पुजाइ ॥ Nānak pucẖẖi▫ā ḏe▫e pujā▫e. O Nanak, when questioned, the answer is given. ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧਿਆ ਅੰਧੀ ਧਾਤੁ ॥ मूरख अंधिआ अंधी धातु ॥ Mūrakẖ anḏẖi▫ā anḏẖī ḏẖāṯ. The blind fool is running around, leading the blind. ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਕਹਾਇਨਿ ਆਪੁ ॥੧॥ कहि कहि कहणु कहाइनि आपु ॥१॥ Kahi kahi kahaṇ kahā▫in āp. ||1|| The more they say, the more they expose themselves. ||1||
