ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ बसंतु महला ५ ॥ Basanṯ mėhlā 5. Basant, Fifth Mehl: ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥ जीअ प्राण तुम्ह पिंड दीन्ह ॥ Jī▫a parāṇ ṯumĥ pind ḏīnĥ. You gave us our soul, breath of life and body. ਮੁਗਧ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ॥ मुगध सुंदर धारि जोति कीन्ह ॥ Mugaḏẖ sunḏar ḏẖār joṯ kīnĥ. I am a fool, but You have made me beautiful, enshrining Your Light within me. ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ सभि जाचिक प्रभ तुम्ह दइआल ॥ Sabẖ jācẖik parabẖ ṯumĥ ḏa▫i▫āl. We are all beggars, O God; You are merciful to us. ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੧॥ नामु जपत होवत निहाल ॥१॥ Nām japaṯ hovaṯ nihāl. ||1|| Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, we are uplifted and exalted. ||1|| ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣ ਜੋਗ ॥ मेरे प्रीतम कारण करण जोग ॥ Mere parīṯam kāraṇ karaṇ jog. O my Beloved, only You have the potency to act, ਹਉ ਪਾਵਉ ਤੁਮ ਤੇ ਸਗਲ ਥੋਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ हउ पावउ तुम ते सगल थोक ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Ha▫o pāva▫o ṯum ṯe sagal thok. ||1|| rahā▫o. and cause all to be done. ||1||Pause|| ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹੋਵਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥ नामु जपत होवत उधार ॥ Nām japaṯ hovaṯ uḏẖār. Chanting the Naam, the mortal is saved. ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਰ ॥ नामु जपत सुख सहज सार ॥ Nām japaṯ sukẖ sahj sār. Chanting the Naam, sublime peace and poise are found. ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਪਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਇ ॥ नामु जपत पति सोभा होइ ॥ Nām japaṯ paṯ sobẖā ho▫e. Chanting the Naam, honor and glory are received. ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥ नामु जपत बिघनु नाही कोइ ॥२॥ Nām japaṯ bigẖan nāhī ko▫e. ||2|| Chanting the Naam, no obstacles shall block your way. ||2|| ਜਾ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਇਹ ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ॥ जा कारणि इह दुलभ देह ॥ Jā kāraṇ ih ḏulabẖ ḏeh. For this reason, you have been blessed with this body, so difficult to obtain. ਸੋ ਬੋਲੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇਹਿ ॥ सो बोलु मेरे प्रभू देहि ॥ So bol mere parabẖū ḏėh. O my Dear God, please bless me to speak the Naam. ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥ साधसंगति महि इहु बिस्रामु ॥ Sāḏẖsangaṯ mėh ih bisrām. This tranquil peace is found in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ਸਦਾ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਪੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥ सदा रिदै जपी प्रभ तेरो नामु ॥३॥ Saḏā riḏai japī parabẖ ṯero nām. ||3|| May I always chant and meditate within my heart on Your Name, O God. ||3|| ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਇ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ तुझ बिनु दूजा कोइ नाहि ॥ Ŧujẖ bin ḏūjā ko▫e nāhi. Other than You, there is no one at all. ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਖੇਲੁ ਤੁਝ ਮਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥ सभु तेरो खेलु तुझ महि समाहि ॥ Sabẖ ṯero kẖel ṯujẖ mėh samāhi. Everything is Your play; it all merges again into You. ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇ ॥ जिउ भावै तिउ राखि ले ॥ Ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o rākẖ le. As it pleases Your Will, save me, Lord. ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥ सुखु नानक पूरा गुरु मिले ॥४॥४॥ Sukẖ Nānak pūrā gur mile. ||4||4|| O Nanak, peace is obtained by meeting with the Perfect Guru. ||4||4||
