ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥ सतिगुर साची सिख सुणाई ॥ Saṯgur sācẖī sikẖ suṇā▫ī. The True Guru has imparted the True Teachings. ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ माझ महला ३ ॥ Mājẖ mėhlā 3. Maajh, Third Mehl: ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥ हरि चेतहु अंति होइ सखाई ॥ Har cẖeṯahu anṯ ho▫e sakẖā▫ī. Think of the Lord, who shall be your Help and Support in the end. ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ हरि अगमु अगोचरु अनाथु अजोनी सतिगुर कै भाइ पावणिआ ॥१॥ Har agam agocẖar anāth ajonī saṯgur kai bẖā▫e pāvṇi▫ā. ||1|| The Lord is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. He has no master, and He is not born. He is obtained through love of the True Guru. ||1|| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਿਆ ॥ हउ वारी जीउ वारी आपु निवारणिआ ॥ Ha▫o vārī jī▫o vārī āp nivārṇi▫ā. I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who eliminate selfishness and conceit. ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ आपु गवाए ता हरि पाए हरि सिउ सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Āp gavā▫e ṯā har pā▫e har si▫o sahj samāvaṇi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o. They eradicate selfishness and conceit, and then find the Lord; they are intuitively immersed in the Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ पूरबि लिखिआ सु करमु कमाइआ ॥ Pūrab likẖi▫ā so karam kamā▫i▫ā. According to their pre-ordained destiny, they act out their karma. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवि सदा सुखु पाइआ ॥ Saṯgur sev saḏā sukẖ pā▫i▫ā. Serving the True Guru, a lasting peace is found. ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ बिनु भागा गुरु पाईऐ नाही सबदै मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥२॥ Bin bẖāgā gur pā▫ī▫ai nāhī sabḏai mel milāvaṇi▫ā. ||2|| Without good fortune, the Guru is not found. Through the Word of the Shabad, they are united in the Lord's Union. ||2|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥ गुरमुखि अलिपतु रहै संसारे ॥ Gurmukẖ alipaṯ rahai sansāre. The Gurmukhs remain unaffected in the midst of the world. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਤਕੀਐ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥ गुर कै तकीऐ नामि अधारे ॥ Gur kai ṯakī▫ai nām aḏẖāre. The Guru is their cushion, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is their Support. ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥ मनमुखि अंधे सुधि न काई ॥ Manmukẖ anḏẖe suḏẖ na kā▫ī. The blind self-willed manmukhs have no understanding at all. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਖਪਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ गुरमुखि जोरु करे किआ तिस नो आपे खपि दुखु पावणिआ ॥३॥ Gurmukẖ jor kare ki▫ā ṯis no āpe kẖap ḏukẖ pāvṇi▫ā. ||3|| Who can oppress the Gurmukh? One who tries shall perish, writhing in pain. ||3|| ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ ਕਸਾਈ ॥ आतम घाती है जगत कसाई ॥ Āṯam gẖāṯī hai jagaṯ kasā▫ī. They are the assassins of the self, and the butchers of the world. ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਭਾਰੁ ਪਹੁਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ निंदा करि करि बहु भारु उठावै बिनु मजूरी भारु पहुचावणिआ ॥४॥ Ninḏā kar kar baho bẖār uṯẖāvai bin majūrī bẖār pahucẖāvaṇi▫ā. ||4|| By continually slandering others, they carry a terrible load, and they carry the loads of others for nothing. ||4|| ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਾੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਲੀ ॥ इहु जगु वाड़ी मेरा प्रभु माली ॥ Ih jag vāṛī merā parabẖ mālī. This world is a garden, and my Lord God is the Gardener. ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਾਲੀ ॥ सदा समाले को नाही खाली ॥ Saḏā samāle ko nāhī kẖālī. He always takes care of it-nothing is exempt from His Care. ਜੇਹੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਾਸੂ ਵਾਸੁ ਜਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ जेही वासना पाए तेही वरतै वासू वासु जणावणिआ ॥५॥ Jehī vāsnā pā▫e ṯehī varṯai vāsū vās jaṇāvaṇi▫ā. ||5|| As is the fragrance which He bestows, so is the fragrant flower known. ||5|| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ मनमुखु रोगी है संसारा ॥ Manmukẖ rogī hai sansārā. The self-willed manmukhs are sick and diseased in the world. ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ सुखदाता विसरिआ अगम अपारा ॥ Sukẖ▫ḏāṯa visri▫ā agam apārā. They have forgotten the Giver of peace, the Unfathomable, the Infinite. ਦੁਖੀਏ ਨਿਤਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ दुखीए निति फिरहि बिललादे बिनु गुर सांति न पावणिआ ॥६॥ Ḏukẖī▫e niṯ firėh billāḏe bin gur sāʼnṯ na pāvṇi▫ā. ||6|| These miserable people wander endlessly, crying out in pain; without the Guru, they find no peace. ||6|| ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ जिनि कीते सोई बिधि जाणै ॥ Jin kīṯe so▫ī biḏẖ jāṇai. The One who created them, knows their condition. ਜੇਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ जेहा अंदरि पाए तेहा वरतै आपे बाहरि पावणिआ ॥७॥ Jehā anḏar pā▫e ṯehā varṯai āpe bāhar pāvṇi▫ā. ||7|| Whatever He places within them, that is what prevails, and so they outwardly appear. ||7|| ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ तिसु बाझहु सचे मै होरु न कोई ॥ Ŧis bājẖahu sacẖe mai hor na ko▫ī. I know of no other except the True One. ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ आपि करे ता हुकमि पछाणै ॥ Āp kare ṯā hukam pacẖẖāṇai. And if He inspires them, then they realize the Hukam of His Command. ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ जिसु लाइ लए सो निरमलु होई ॥ Jis lā▫e la▫e so nirmal ho▫ī. Those, whom the Lord attaches to Himself, become pure. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੪॥੧੫॥ नानक नामु वसै घट अंतरि जिसु देवै सो पावणिआ ॥८॥१४॥१५॥ Nānak nām vasai gẖat anṯar jis ḏevai so pāvṇi▫ā. ||8||14||15|| O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the heart of those, unto whom He has given it. ||8||14||15||
