ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ बसंतु महला १ ॥ Basanṯ mėhlā 1. Basant, First Mehl: ਮੇਰੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਭਾਇ ॥ मेरी सखी सहेली सुनहु भाइ ॥ Merī sakẖī sahelī sunhu bẖā▫e. O my friends and companions, listen with love in your heart. ਓਹੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਾਇ ॥ ओहु अलखु न लखीऐ कहहु काइ ॥ Oh alakẖ na lakẖī▫ai kahhu kā▫e. He is Unseen - He cannot be seen. How can I describe Him? ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰੀਸਾਲੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਇ ॥ मेरा पिरु रीसालू संगि साइ ॥ Merā pir rīsālū sang sā▫e. My Husband Lord is Incomparably Beautiful; He is always with me. ਗੁਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਓ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ॥੧॥ गुरि संगि दिखाइओ राम राइ ॥१॥ Gur sang ḏikẖā▫i▫o rām rā▫e. ||1|| The Guru has shown me that my Sovereign Lord God is with me. ||1|| ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਖੇਲਹਿ ਵਰ ਕਾਮਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਜਤ ਮਨ ਮਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ हरि प्रभ संगि खेलहि वर कामनि गुरमुखि खोजत मन मने ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Har parabẖ sang kẖelėh var kāman gurmukẖ kẖojaṯ man mane. ||1|| rahā▫o. The sublime soul-brides play with their Lord God. The Gurmukhs look within themselves; their minds are filled with faith. ||1||Pause|| ਮਿਲੁ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਬਨੇ ॥ मिलु सखी सहेली हरि गुन बने ॥ Mil sakẖī sahelī har gun bane. Joining together with my friends and companions, I am adorned with the Lord's Glorious Virtues. ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਦੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਭੇਉ ॥ मनमुखी दुहागणि नाहि भेउ ॥ Manmukẖī ḏuhāgaṇ nāhi bẖe▫o. The self-willed manmukhs, suffering in separation, do not understand this mystery. ਓਹੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਾਵੈ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰੇਉ ॥ ओहु घटि घटि रावै सरब प्रेउ ॥ Oh gẖat gẖat rāvai sarab pare▫o. The Beloved Lord of all celebrates in each and every heart. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਥਿਰੁ ਚੀਨੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੇਉ ॥ गुरमुखि थिरु चीनै संगि देउ ॥ Gurmukẖ thir cẖīnai sang ḏe▫o. The Gurmukh is stable, knowing that God is always with him. ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਜਪੁ ਜਪੇਉ ॥੨॥ गुरि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ जपु जपेउ ॥२॥ Gur nām driṛ▫ā▫i▫ā jap jape▫o. ||2|| The Guru has implanted the Naam within me; I chant it, and meditate on it. ||2|| ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਭਾਉ ਹੋਇ ॥ बिनु गुर भगति न भाउ होइ ॥ Bin gur bẖagaṯ na bẖā▫o ho▫e. Without the Guru, devotional love does not well up within. ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਸੰਗੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ बिनु गुर संत न संगु देइ ॥ Bin gur sanṯ na sang ḏe▫e. Without the Guru, one is not blessed with the Society of the Saints. ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਧੰਧੁ ਰੋਇ ॥ बिनु गुर अंधुले धंधु रोइ ॥ Bin gur anḏẖule ḏẖanḏẖ ro▫e. Without the Guru, the blind cry out, entangled in worldly affairs. ਮਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਖੋਇ ॥੩॥ मनु गुरमुखि निरमलु मलु सबदि खोइ ॥३॥ Man gurmukẖ nirmal mal sabaḏ kẖo▫e. ||3|| That mortal who becomes Gurmukh becomes immaculate; the Word of the Shabad washes away his filth. ||3|| ਗੁਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥ गुरि मनु मारिओ करि संजोगु ॥ Gur man māri▫o kar sanjog. Uniting with the Guru, the mortal conquers and subdues his mind. ਗੁਰ ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥ गुर संत सभा दुखु मिटै रोगु ॥ Gur sanṯ sabẖā ḏukẖ mitai rog. Associating with the Saint Guru, suffering and sickness are ended. ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਾਵੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੋਗੁ ॥ अहिनिसि रावे भगति जोगु ॥ Ahinis rāve bẖagaṯ jog. Day and night, he savors the Yoga of devotional worship. ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਸਹਜ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੪॥੬॥ जन नानक हरि वरु सहज जोगु ॥४॥६॥ Jan Nānak har var sahj jog. ||4||6|| Servant Nanak merges with his Husband Lord, in the Yoga of intuitive ease. ||4||6||
