ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਜਿ ॥ आपे कुदरति करे साजि ॥ Āpe kuḏraṯ kare sāj. By His Creative Power, God fashioned the creation. ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ बसंतु महला १ ॥ Basanṯ mėhlā 1. Basant, First Mehl: ਸਚੁ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਬੇੜੇ ਰਾਜੁ ਰਾਜਿ ॥ सचु आपि निबेड़े राजु राजि ॥ Sacẖ āp nibeṛe rāj rāj. The King of kings Himself administers true justice. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਥਿ ॥ गुरमति ऊतम संगि साथि ॥ Gurmaṯ ūṯam sang sāth. The most sublime Word of the Guru's Teachings is always with us. ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਆਥਿ ॥੧॥ हरि नामु रसाइणु सहजि आथि ॥१॥ Har nām rasā▫iṇ sahj āth. ||1|| The wealth of the Lord's Name, the source of nectar, is easily acquired. ||1|| ਮਤ ਬਿਸਰਸਿ ਰੇ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਬੋਲਿ ॥ मत बिसरसि रे मन राम बोलि ॥ Maṯ bisras re man rām bol. So chant the Name of the Lord; do not forget it, O my mind. ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਤੁਲਾਏ ਅਤੁਲੁ ਤੋਲਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ अपर्मपरु अगम अगोचरु गुरमुखि हरि आपि तुलाए अतुलु तोलि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Aprampar agam agocẖar gurmukẖ har āp ṯulā▫e aṯul ṯol. ||1|| rahā▫o. The Lord is Infinite, Inaccessible and Incomprehensible; His weight cannot be weighed, but He Himself allows the Gurmukh to weigh Him. ||1||Pause|| ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਸਰੇਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਤੋਰ ॥ गुर चरन सरेवहि गुरसिख तोर ॥ Gur cẖaran sarevėh gursikẖ ṯor. Your GurSikhs serve at the Guru's Feet. ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਤਰੇ ਤਜਿ ਮੇਰ ਤੋਰ ॥ गुर सेव तरे तजि मेर तोर ॥ Gur sev ṯare ṯaj mer ṯor. Serving the Guru, they are carried across; they have abandoned any distinction between 'mine' and 'yours'. ਨਰ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਨਿ ਕਠੋਰ ॥ नर निंदक लोभी मनि कठोर ॥ Nar ninḏak lobẖī man kaṯẖor. The slanderous and greedy people are hard-hearted. ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਭਾਈ ਸਿ ਚੋਰ ਚੋਰ ॥੨॥ गुर सेव न भाई सि चोर चोर ॥२॥ Gur sev na bẖā▫ī sė cẖor cẖor. ||2|| Those who do not love to serve the Guru are the most thieving of thieves. ||2|| ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਬਖਸੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਉ ॥ गुरु तुठा बखसे भगति भाउ ॥ Gur ṯuṯẖā bakẖse bẖagaṯ bẖā▫o. When the Guru is pleased, He blesses the mortals with loving devotional worship of the Lord. ਗੁਰਿ ਤੁਠੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਠਾਉ ॥ गुरि तुठै पाईऐ हरि महलि ठाउ ॥ Gur ṯuṯẖai pā▫ī▫ai har mahal ṯẖā▫o. When the Guru is pleased, the mortal obtains a place in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ਪਰਹਰਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਾਗੁ ॥ परहरि निंदा हरि भगति जागु ॥ Parhar ninḏā har bẖagaṯ jāg. So renounce slander, and awaken in devotional worship of the Lord. ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੩॥ हरि भगति सुहावी करमि भागु ॥३॥ Har bẖagaṯ suhāvī karam bẖāg. ||3|| Devotion to the Lord is wonderful; it comes through good karma and destiny. ||3|| ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ गुरु मेलि मिलावै करे दाति ॥ Gur mel milāvai kare ḏāṯ. The Guru unites in union with the Lord, and grants the gift of the Name. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਇ ॥੪॥੭॥ कहु नानक पावहि विरले केइ ॥४॥७॥ Kaho Nānak pāvahi virle ke▫e. ||4||7|| Says Nanak, those who receive it are very rare indeed. ||4||7|| ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥ गुरसिख पिआरे दिनसु राति ॥ Gursikẖ pi▫āre ḏinas rāṯ. The Guru loves His Sikhs, day and night. ਫਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਇ ॥ फलु नामु परापति गुरु तुसि देइ ॥ Fal nām parāpaṯ gur ṯus ḏe▫e. They obtain the fruit of the Naam, when the Guru's favor is bestowed.
