ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਾਈ ॥ सतिगुर साची सिख सुणाई ॥ Saṫgur saachee sikʰ suṇaa▫ee. The True Guru has imparted the True Teachings. ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ माझ महला ३ ॥ Maajʰ mėhlaa 3. Maajh, Third Mehl: ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਅੰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥ हरि चेतहु अंति होइ सखाई ॥ Har chéṫahu anṫ ho▫é sakʰaa▫ee. Think of the Lord, who shall be your Help and Support in the end. ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਅਜੋਨੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ हरि अगमु अगोचरु अनाथु अजोनी सतिगुर कै भाइ पावणिआ ॥१॥ Har agam agochar anaaṫʰ ajonee saṫgur kæ bʰaa▫é paavṇi▫aa. ||1|| The Lord is Inaccessible and Incomprehensible. He has no master, and He is not born. He is obtained through love of the True Guru. ||1|| ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਿਆ ॥ हउ वारी जीउ वारी आपु निवारणिआ ॥ Ha▫o vaaree jee▫o vaaree aap nivaarṇi▫aa. I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who eliminate selfishness and conceit. ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ आपु गवाए ता हरि पाए हरि सिउ सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Aap gavaa▫é ṫaa har paa▫é har si▫o sahj samaavaṇi▫aa. ||1|| rahaa▫o. They eradicate selfishness and conceit, and then find the Lord; they are intuitively immersed in the Lord. ||1||Pause|| ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ पूरबि लिखिआ सु करमु कमाइआ ॥ Poorab likʰi▫aa so karam kamaa▫i▫aa. According to their preordained destiny, they act out their karma. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवि सदा सुखु पाइआ ॥ Saṫgur sév saḋaa sukʰ paa▫i▫aa. Serving the True Guru, a lasting peace is found. ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਸਬਦੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥ बिनु भागा गुरु पाईऐ नाही सबदै मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥२॥ Bin bʰaagaa gur paa▫ee▫æ naahee sabḋæ mél milaavaṇi▫aa. ||2|| Without good fortune, the Guru is not found. Through the Word of the Shabad, they are united in the Lord’s Union. ||2|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥ गुरमुखि अलिपतु रहै संसारे ॥ Gurmukʰ alipaṫ rahæ sansaaré. The Gurmukhs remain unaffected in the midst of the world. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਤਕੀਐ ਨਾਮਿ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥ गुर कै तकीऐ नामि अधारे ॥ Gur kæ ṫakee▫æ naam aḋʰaaré. The Guru is their cushion, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is their Support. ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧੇ ਸੁਧਿ ਨ ਕਾਈ ॥ मनमुखि अंधे सुधि न काई ॥ Manmukʰ anḋʰé suḋʰ na kaa▫ee. The blind self-willed Manmukhs have no understanding at all. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਖਪਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥ गुरमुखि जोरु करे किआ तिस नो आपे खपि दुखु पावणिआ ॥३॥ Gurmukʰ jor karé ki▫aa ṫis no aapé kʰap ḋukʰ paavṇi▫aa. ||3|| Who can oppress the Gurmukh? One who tries shall perish, writhing in pain. ||3|| ਆਤਮ ਘਾਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਗਤ ਕਸਾਈ ॥ आतम घाती है जगत कसाई ॥ Aaṫam gʰaaṫee hæ jagaṫ kasaa▫ee. They are the assassins of the self, and the butchers of the world. ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਜੂਰੀ ਭਾਰੁ ਪਹੁਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥ निंदा करि करि बहु भारु उठावै बिनु मजूरी भारु पहुचावणिआ ॥४॥ Ninḋaa kar kar baho bʰaar utʰaavæ bin majooree bʰaar pahuchaavaṇi▫aa. ||4|| By continually slandering others, they carry a terrible load, and they carry the loads of others for nothing. ||4|| ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਵਾੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਾਲੀ ॥ इहु जगु वाड़ी मेरा प्रभु माली ॥ Ih jag vaaṛee méraa parabʰ maalee. This world is a garden, and my Lord God is the Gardener. ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਖਾਲੀ ॥ सदा समाले को नाही खाली ॥ Saḋaa samaalé ko naahee kʰaalee. He always takes care of it-nothing is exempt from His Care. ਜੇਹੀ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹੀ ਵਰਤੈ ਵਾਸੂ ਵਾਸੁ ਜਣਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ जेही वासना पाए तेही वरतै वासू वासु जणावणिआ ॥५॥ Jéhee vaasnaa paa▫é ṫéhee varṫæ vaasoo vaas jaṇaavaṇi▫aa. ||5|| As is the fragrance which He bestows, so is the fragrant flower known. ||5|| ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ मनमुखु रोगी है संसारा ॥ Manmukʰ rogee hæ sansaaraa. The self-willed Manmukhs are sick and diseased in the world. ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ सुखदाता विसरिआ अगम अपारा ॥ Sukʰ▫ḋaaṫa visri▫aa agam apaaraa. They have forgotten the Giver of peace, the Unfathomable, the Infinite. ਦੁਖੀਏ ਨਿਤਿ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਲਲਾਦੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥ दुखीए निति फिरहि बिललादे बिनु गुर सांति न पावणिआ ॥६॥ Ḋukʰee▫é niṫ firėh billaaḋé bin gur saaⁿṫ na paavṇi▫aa. ||6|| These miserable people wander endlessly, crying out in pain; without the Guru, they find no peace. ||6|| ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥ जिनि कीते सोई बिधि जाणै ॥ Jin keeṫé so▫ee biḋʰ jaaṇæ. The One who created them, knows their condition. ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥ आपि करे ता हुकमि पछाणै ॥ Aap karé ṫaa hukam pachʰaaṇæ. And if He inspires them, then they realize the Hukam of His Command. ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਮੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥ तिसु बाझहु सचे मै होरु न कोई ॥ Ṫis baajʰahu saché mæ hor na ko▫ee. I know of no other except the True One. ਜੇਹਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ जेहा अंदरि पाए तेहा वरतै आपे बाहरि पावणिआ ॥७॥ Jéhaa anḋar paa▫é ṫéhaa varṫæ aapé baahar paavṇi▫aa. ||7|| Whatever He places within them, that is what prevails, and so they outwardly appear. ||7|| ਜਿਸੁ ਲਾਇ ਲਏ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ जिसु लाइ लए सो निरमलु होई ॥ Jis laa▫é la▫é so nirmal ho▫ee. Those, whom the Lord attaches to Himself, become pure. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੪॥੧੫॥ नानक नामु वसै घट अंतरि जिसु देवै सो पावणिआ ॥८॥१४॥१५॥ Naanak naam vasæ gʰat anṫar jis ḋévæ so paavṇi▫aa. ||8||14||15|| O Nanak! The Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the heart of those, unto whom He has given it. ||8||14||15||
