ਸੁਇਨੇ ਕਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੁਆਰ ॥ सुइने का चउका कंचन कुआर ॥ Su▫ine kā cẖa▫ukā kancẖan ku▫ār. The kitchen is golden, and the cooking pots are golden. ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥ बसंतु महला १ ॥ Basanṯ mėhlā 1. Basant, First Mehl: ਰੁਪੇ ਕੀਆ ਕਾਰਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥ रुपे कीआ कारा बहुतु बिसथारु ॥ Rupe kī▫ā kārā bahuṯ bisthār. The lines marking the cooking square are silver. ਗੰਗਾ ਕਾ ਉਦਕੁ ਕਰੰਤੇ ਕੀ ਆਗਿ ॥ गंगा का उदकु करंते की आगि ॥ Gangā kā uḏak karanṯe kī āg. The water is from the Ganges, and the firewood is sanctified. ਗਰੁੜਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਦੁਧ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਡਿ ॥੧॥ गरुड़ा खाणा दुध सिउ गाडि ॥१॥ Garuṛā kẖāṇā ḏuḏẖ si▫o gād. ||1|| The food is soft rice, cooked in milk. ||1|| ਰੇ ਮਨ ਲੇਖੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥ रे मन लेखै कबहू न पाइ ॥ Re man lekẖai kabhū na pā▫e. O my mind, these things are worthless, ਜਾਮਿ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਸਾਚ ਨਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ जामि न भीजै साच नाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Jām na bẖījai sācẖ nā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o. if you are not drenched with the True Name. ||1||Pause|| ਦਸ ਅਠ ਲੀਖੇ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਪਾਸਿ ॥ दस अठ लीखे होवहि पासि ॥ Ḏas aṯẖ līkẖe hovėh pās. One may have the eighteen Puraanas written in his own hand; ਚਾਰੇ ਬੇਦ ਮੁਖਾਗਰ ਪਾਠਿ ॥ चारे बेद मुखागर पाठि ॥ Cẖāre beḏ mukẖāgar pāṯẖ. he may recite the four Vedas by heart, ਪੁਰਬੀ ਨਾਵੈ ਵਰਨਾਂ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ पुरबी नावै वरनां की दाति ॥ Purbī nāvai varnāʼn kī ḏāṯ. and take ritual baths at holy festivals and give charitable donations; ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੨॥ वरत नेम करे दिन राति ॥२॥ varaṯ nem kare ḏin rāṯ. ||2|| he may observe the ritual fasts, and perform religious ceremonies day and night. ||2|| ਕਾਜੀ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਸੇਖ ॥ काजी मुलां होवहि सेख ॥ Kājī mulāʼn hovėh sekẖ. He may be a Qazi, a Mullah or a Shaykh, ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਭਗਵੇ ਭੇਖ ॥ जोगी जंगम भगवे भेख ॥ Jogī jangam bẖagve bẖekẖ. a Yogi or a wandering hermit wearing saffron-colored robes; ਕੋ ਗਿਰਹੀ ਕਰਮਾ ਕੀ ਸੰਧਿ ॥ को गिरही करमा की संधि ॥ Ko girhī karmā kī sanḏẖ. he may be a householder, working at his job; ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਭ ਖੜੀਅਸਿ ਬੰਧਿ ॥੩॥ बिनु बूझे सभ खड़ीअसि बंधि ॥३॥ Bin būjẖe sabẖ kẖaṛī▫as banḏẖ. ||3|| but without understanding the essence of devotional worship, all people are eventually bound and gagged, and driven along by the Messenger of Death. ||3|| ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਲਿਖੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ॥ जेते जीअ लिखी सिरि कार ॥ Jeṯe jī▫a likẖī sir kār. Each person's karma is written on his forehead. ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥ हुकमु करहि मूरख गावार ॥ Hukam karahi mūrakẖ gāvār. Only the foolish and the ignorant issue commands. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥੪॥੩॥ नानक साचे के सिफति भंडार ॥४॥३॥ Nānak sācẖe ke sifaṯ bẖandār. ||4||3|| O Nanak, the treasure of praise belongs to the True Lord alone. ||4||3|| ਕਰਣੀ ਉਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਗਿ ਸਾਰ ॥ करणी उपरि होवगि सार ॥ Karṇī upar hovag sār. According to their deeds, they shall be judged.
