ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਉ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ हउमै रोगु मानुख कउ दीना ॥ Ha▫umai rog mānukẖ ka▫o ḏīnā. Mankind is afflicted with the disease of egotism. ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ भैरउ महला ५ ॥ Bẖairo mėhlā 5. Bhairao, Fifth Mehl: ਕਾਮ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਬਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥ काम रोगि मैगलु बसि लीना ॥ Kām rog maigal bas līnā. The disease of sexual desire overwhelms the elephant. ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਰੋਗਿ ਪਚਿ ਮੁਏ ਪਤੰਗਾ ॥ द्रिसटि रोगि पचि मुए पतंगा ॥ Ḏarisat rog pacẖ mu▫e paṯangā. Because of the disease of vision, the moth is burnt to death. ਨਾਦ ਰੋਗਿ ਖਪਿ ਗਏ ਕੁਰੰਗਾ ॥੧॥ नाद रोगि खपि गए कुरंगा ॥१॥ Nāḏ rog kẖap ga▫e kurangā. ||1|| Because of the disease of the sound of the bell, the deer is lured to its death. ||1|| ਜੋ ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸੋ ਰੋਗੀ ॥ जो जो दीसै सो सो रोगी ॥ Jo jo ḏīsai so so rogī. Whoever I see is diseased. ਰੋਗ ਰਹਿਤ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ रोग रहित मेरा सतिगुरु जोगी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Rog rahiṯ merā saṯgur jogī. ||1|| rahā▫o. Only my True Guru, the True Yogi, is free of disease. ||1||Pause|| ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰੋਗਿ ਮੀਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਸਿਆਨੋ ॥ जिहवा रोगि मीनु ग्रसिआनो ॥ Jihvā rog mīn garsi▫āno. Because of the disease of taste, the fish is caught. ਬਾਸਨ ਰੋਗਿ ਭਵਰੁ ਬਿਨਸਾਨੋ ॥ बासन रोगि भवरु बिनसानो ॥ Bāsan rog bẖavar binsāno. Because of the disease of smell, the bumble bee is destroyed. ਹੇਤ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ हेत रोग का सगल संसारा ॥ Heṯ rog kā sagal sansārā. The whole world is caught in the disease of attachment. ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਰੋਗ ਮਹਿ ਬਧੇ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥ त्रिबिधि रोग महि बधे बिकारा ॥२॥ Ŧaribaḏẖ rog mėh baḏẖe bikārā. ||2|| In the disease of the three qualities, corruption is multiplied. ||2|| ਰੋਗੇ ਮਰਤਾ ਰੋਗੇ ਜਨਮੈ ॥ रोगे मरता रोगे जनमै ॥ Roge marṯā roge janmai. In disease the mortals die, and in disease they are born. ਰੋਗੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਭਰਮੈ ॥ रोगे फिरि फिरि जोनी भरमै ॥ Roge fir fir jonī bẖarmai. In disease they wander in reincarnation again and again. ਰੋਗ ਬੰਧ ਰਹਨੁ ਰਤੀ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ रोग बंध रहनु रती न पावै ॥ Rog banḏẖ rahan raṯī na pāvai. Entangled in disease, they cannot stay still, even for an instant. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੩॥ बिनु सतिगुर रोगु कतहि न जावै ॥३॥ Bin saṯgur rog kaṯėh na jāvai. ||3|| Without the True Guru, the disease is never cured. ||3|| ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੭॥੨੦॥ कहु नानक गुरि रोगु मिटाइआ ॥४॥७॥२०॥ Kaho Nānak gur rog mitā▫i▫ā. ||4||7||20|| Says Nanak, the Guru cures him of the disease. ||4||7||20|| ਤੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ तूटे बंधन साधसंगु पाइआ ॥ Ŧūte banḏẖan sāḏẖsang pā▫i▫ā. Reaching the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the mortal's bonds are broken. ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ॥ पारब्रहमि जिसु कीनी दइआ ॥ Pārbarahm jis kīnī ḏa▫i▫ā. When the Supreme Lord God grants His Mercy, ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਰੋਗਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਆ ॥ बाह पकड़ि रोगहु कढि लइआ ॥ Bāh pakaṛ rogahu kadẖ la▫i▫ā. He grabs hold of the mortal's arm, and pulls him up and out of the disease.
