ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਇਆ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਟੇ ਦੁਖ ਖਾਇ ॥ हउमै माइआ मोहि खुआइआ दुखु खटे दुख खाइ ॥ Ha▫umæ maa▫i▫aa mohi kʰu▫aa▫i▫aa ḋukʰ kʰaté ḋukʰ kʰaa▫é. Lost in egotism, Maya and attachment, the mortal earns pain, and eats pain. ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ भैरउ महला ३ ॥ Bʰæro mėhlaa 3. Bhairao, Third Mehl: ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਹਲਕੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਭਰਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ अंतरि लोभ हलकु दुखु भारी बिनु बिबेक भरमाइ ॥१॥ Anṫar lobʰ halak ḋukʰ bʰaaree bin bibék bʰarmaa▫é. ||1|| The great disease, the rabid disease of greed, is deep within him; he wanders around indiscriminately. ||1|| ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੈਸਾਰਿ ॥ मनमुखि ध्रिगु जीवणु सैसारि ॥ Manmukʰ ḋʰarig jeevaṇ sæsaar. The life of the self-willed Manmukh in this world is cursed. ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ राम नामु सुपनै नही चेतिआ हरि सिउ कदे न लागै पिआरु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Raam naam supnæ nahee chéṫi▫aa har si▫o kaḋé na laagæ pi▫aar. ||1|| rahaa▫o. He does not remember the Lord’s Name, even in his dreams. He is never in love with the Lord’s Name. ||1||Pause|| ਪਸੂਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੂੜੋ ਹੋਇ ॥ पसूआ करम करै नही बूझै कूड़ु कमावै कूड़ो होइ ॥ Pasoo▫aa karam karæ nahee boojʰæ kooṛ kamaavæ kooṛo ho▫é. He acts like a beast, and does not understand anything. Practicing falsehood, he becomes false. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਉਲਟੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥ सतिगुरु मिलै त उलटी होवै खोजि लहै जनु कोइ ॥२॥ Saṫgur milæ ṫa ultee hovæ kʰoj lahæ jan ko▫é. ||2|| But when the mortal meets the True Guru, his way of looking at the world changes. How rare are those humble beings who seek and find the Lord. ||2|| ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਦ ਵਸਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥ हरि हरि नामु रिदै सद वसिआ पाइआ गुणी निधानु ॥ Har har naam riḋæ saḋ vasi▫aa paa▫i▫aa guṇee niḋʰaan. That person, whose heart is forever filled with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, obtains the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥ गुर परसादी पूरा पाइआ चूका मन अभिमानु ॥३॥ Gur parsaadee pooraa paa▫i▫aa chookaa man abʰimaan. ||3|| By Guru’s Grace, he finds the Perfect Lord; the egotistical pride of his mind is eradicated. ||3|| ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥ आपे करता करे कराए आपे मारगि पाए ॥ Aapé karṫaa karé karaa▫é aapé maarag paa▫é. The Creator Himself acts, and causes all to act. He Himself places us on the path. ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੯॥ आपे गुरमुखि दे वडिआई नानक नामि समाए ॥४॥९॥१९॥ Aapé gurmukʰ ḋé vadi▫aa▫ee Naanak naam samaa▫é. ||4||9||19|| He Himself blesses the Gurmukh with glorious greatness; O Nanak! He merges in the Naam. ||4||9||19||
