ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥ सबदु बीचारे सो जनु साचा जिन कै हिरदै साचा सोई ॥ Sabaḏ bīcẖāre so jan sācẖā jin kai hirḏai sācẖā so▫ī. That humble being who contemplates the Word of the Shabad is true; the True Lord is within his heart. ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ भैरउ महला ३ ॥ Bẖairo mėhlā 3. Bhairao, Third Mehl: ਭਗਤੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ भगतु भगतु कहै सभु कोई ॥ Bẖagaṯ bẖagaṯ kahai sabẖ ko▫ī. Everyone calls him, "Devotee, devotee. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ बिनु सतिगुर सेवे भगति न पाईऐ पूरै भागि मिलै प्रभु सोई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Bin saṯgur seve bẖagaṯ na pā▫ī▫ai pūrai bẖāg milai parabẖ so▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o. But without serving the True Guru, devotional worship is not obtained. Only through perfect destiny does one meet God. ||1||Pause|| ਸਾਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਤਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੧॥ साची भगति करहि दिनु राती तां तनि दूखु न होई ॥१॥ Sācẖī bẖagaṯ karahi ḏin rāṯī ṯāʼn ṯan ḏūkẖ na ho▫ī. ||1|| If someone performs true devotional worship day and night, then his body will not feel pain. ||1|| ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਵਹਿ ਲਾਭੁ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਲਾਭੁ ਕਿਦੂ ਹੋਈ ॥ मनमुख मूलु गवावहि लाभु मागहि लाहा लाभु किदू होई ॥ Manmukẖ mūl gavāvėh lābẖ māgėh lāhā lābẖ kiḏū ho▫ī. The self-willed manmukhs lose their capital, and still, they demand profits. How can they earn any profit? ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥੨॥ जमकालु सदा है सिर ऊपरि दूजै भाइ पति खोई ॥२॥ Jamkāl saḏā hai sir ūpar ḏūjai bẖā▫e paṯ kẖo▫ī. ||2|| The Messenger of Death is always hovering above their heads. In the love of duality, they lose their honor. ||2|| ਬਹਲੇ ਭੇਖ ਭਵਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥ बहले भेख भवहि दिनु राती हउमै रोगु न जाई ॥ Bahle bẖekẖ bẖavėh ḏin rāṯī ha▫umai rog na jā▫ī. Trying on all sorts of religious robes, they wander around day and night, but the disease of their egotism is not cured. ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਲੂਝਹਿ ਬਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੩॥ पड़ि पड़ि लूझहि बादु वखाणहि मिलि माइआ सुरति गवाई ॥३॥ Paṛ paṛ lūjẖėh bāḏ vakāṇėh mil mā▫i▫ā suraṯ gavā▫ī. ||3|| Reading and studying, they argue and debate; attached to Maya, they lose their awareness. ||3|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवहि परम गति पावहि नामि मिलै वडिआई ॥ Saṯgur sevėh param gaṯ pāvahi nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī. Those who serve the True Guru are blessed with the supreme status; through the Naam, they are blessed with glorious greatness. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੪॥ नानक नामु जिना मनि वसिआ दरि साचै पति पाई ॥४॥४॥१४॥ Nānak nām jinā man vasi▫ā ḏar sācẖai paṯ pā▫ī. ||4||4||14|| O Nanak, those whose minds are filled with the Naam, are honored in the Court of the True Lord. ||4||4||14||
