ਸੋ ਮੁਨਿ ਜਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰੇ ॥ सो मुनि जि मन की दुबिधा मारे ॥ So mun jė man kee ḋubiḋʰaa maaré. He alone is a silent sage, who subdues his mind’s duality. ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ भैरउ महला ३ ॥ Bʰæro mėhlaa 3. Bhairao, Third Mehl: ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ दुबिधा मारि ब्रहमु बीचारे ॥१॥ Ḋubiḋʰaa maar barahm beechaaré. ||1|| Subduing his duality, he contemplates God. ||1|| ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥ इसु मन कउ कोई खोजहु भाई ॥ Is man ka▫o ko▫ee kʰojahu bʰaa▫ee. Let each person examine his own mind, O Siblings of Destiny. ਮਨੁ ਖੋਜਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ मनु खोजत नामु नउ निधि पाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Man kʰojaṫ naam na▫o niḋʰ paa▫ee. ||1|| rahaa▫o. Examine your mind, and you shall obtain the nine treasures of the Naam. ||1||Pause|| ਮੂਲੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ मूलु मोहु करि करतै जगतु उपाइआ ॥ Mool moh kar karṫæ jagaṫ upaa▫i▫aa. The Creator created the world, upon the foundation of worldly love and attachment. ਮਮਤਾ ਲਾਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੋੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥ ममता लाइ भरमि भुोलाइआ ॥२॥ Mamṫaa laa▫é bʰaram bʰolaa▫i▫aa. ||2|| Attaching it to possessiveness, He has led it into confusion with doubt. ||2|| ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਪਿੰਡ ਪਰਾਣਾ ॥ इसु मन ते सभ पिंड पराणा ॥ Is man ṫé sabʰ pind paraaṇaa. From this Mind come all bodies, and the breath of life. ਮਨ ਕੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੩॥ मन कै वीचारि हुकमु बुझि समाणा ॥३॥ Man kæ veechaar hukam bujʰ samaaṇaa. ||3|| By mental contemplation, the mortal realizes the Hukam of the Lord’s Command, and merges in Him. ||3|| ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥ करमु होवै गुरु किरपा करै ॥ Karam hovæ gur kirpaa karæ. When the mortal has good karma, the Guru grants His Grace. ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਰੈ ॥੪॥ इहु मनु जागै इसु मन की दुबिधा मरै ॥४॥ Ih man jaagæ is man kee ḋubiḋʰaa maræ. ||4|| Then this mind is awakened, and the duality of this mind is subdued. ||4|| ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥ मन का सुभाउ सदा बैरागी ॥ Man kaa subʰaa▫o saḋaa bæraagee. It is the innate nature of the mind to remain forever detached. ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਸੈ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਅਨਰਾਗੀ ॥੫॥ सभ महि वसै अतीतु अनरागी ॥५॥ Sabʰ mėh vasæ aṫeeṫ anraagee. ||5|| The Detached, Dispassionate Lord dwells within all. ||5|| ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਭੇਉ ॥ कहत नानकु जो जाणै भेउ ॥ Kahaṫ Naanak jo jaaṇæ bʰé▫o. Says Nanak, one who understands this mystery, ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਉ ॥੬॥੫॥ आदि पुरखु निरंजन देउ ॥६॥५॥ Aaḋ purakʰ niranjan ḋé▫o. ||6||5|| becomes the embodiment of the Primal, Immaculate, Divine Lord God. ||6||5|| ਭਵਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ भवजलु पारि उतारणहारा ॥१॥ Bʰavjal paar uṫaaraṇhaaraa. ||1|| It carries the mortal across the terrifying world-ocean. ||1|| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥ राम नामु जगत निसतारा ॥ Raam naam jagaṫ nisṫaaraa. The world is saved through the Name of the Lord.
