ਹਉ ਮੈ ਕਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਤੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੂ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਹਉ ਨਾਹਿ ॥ हउ मै करी तां तू नाही तू होवहि हउ नाहि ॥ Ha▫o mai karī ṯāʼn ṯū nāhī ṯū hovėh ha▫o nāhi. When one acts in egotism, then You are not there, Lord. Wherever You are, there is no ego. ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੧ ॥ सलोक मः १ ॥ Salok mėhlā 1. Shalok, First Mehl: ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਲਖੁ ਵਸੈ ਸਭ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ बिनु गुर ततु न पाईऐ अलखु वसै सभ माहि ॥ Bin gur ṯaṯ na pā▫ī▫ai alakẖ vasai sabẖ māhi. Without the Guru, the essence of reality is not found; the Invisible Lord dwells everywhere. ਬੂਝਹੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੂਝਣਾ ਏਹ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ बूझहु गिआनी बूझणा एह अकथ कथा मन माहि ॥ Būjẖhu gi▫ānī būjẖ▫ṇā eh akath kathā man māhi. O spiritual teachers, understand this: the Unspoken Speech is in the mind. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ सतिगुरु मिलै त जाणीऐ जां सबदु वसै मन माहि ॥ Saṯgur milai ṯa jāṇī▫ai jāʼn sabaḏ vasai man māhi. One meets the True Guru, and then the Lord is known, when the Word of the Shabad comes to dwell in the mind. ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਗਇਆ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਹਿ ॥ आपु गइआ भ्रमु भउ गइआ जनम मरन दुख जाहि ॥ Āp ga▫i▫ā bẖaram bẖa▫o ga▫i▫ā janam maran ḏukẖ jāhi. When self-conceit departs, doubt and fear also depart, and the pain of birth and death is removed. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਈਐ ਊਤਮ ਮਤਿ ਤਰਾਹਿ ॥ गुरमति अलखु लखाईऐ ऊतम मति तराहि ॥ Gurmaṯ alakẖ lakẖā▫ī▫ai ūṯam maṯ ṯarāhi. Following the Guru's Teachings, the Unseen Lord is seen; the intellect is exalted, and one is carried across. ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਹੰ ਹੰਸਾ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਹੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਤਿਸੈ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ नानक सोहं हंसा जपु जापहु त्रिभवण तिसै समाहि ॥१॥ Nānak sohaʼn hansā jap jāpahu ṯaribẖavaṇ ṯisai samāhi. ||1|| O Nanak, chant the chant of 'Sohang hansaa' - 'He is me, and I am Him.' The three worlds are absorbed in Him. ||1||
