ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਮਰਥ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਨਾ ॥ प्रभ समरथ सरब सुख दाना ॥ Parabẖ samrath sarab sukẖ ḏānā. God is the almighty Giver of all peace and joy. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ मारू महला ५ ॥ Mārū mėhlā 5. Maaroo, Fifth Mehl: ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਜਨੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਜਾਚੰਗਨਾ ॥੧॥ हरि दाता जीअ जंत भेखारी जनु बांछै जाचंगना ॥१॥ Har ḏāṯā jī▫a janṯ bẖekẖārī jan bāʼncẖẖai jācẖangnā. ||1|| The Lord is the Great Giver; all beings and creatures are beggars; His humble servants yearn to beg from Him. ||1|| ਸਿਮਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਹੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥ सिमरउ नामु होहु मिहरवाना ॥ Simra▫o nām hohu miharvānā. Be merciful to me, that I may meditate in remembrance on Your Name. ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਮਿਟਾਵਉ ॥ जनम जनम की मैलु मिटावउ ॥ Janam janam kī mail mitāva▫o. and the filth of countless lifetimes may be erased. ਦੀਰਘ ਰੋਗ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲਿ ਰਾਪੈ ਮੰਗਨਾ ॥੨॥ दीरघ रोग मिटहि हरि अउखधि हरि निरमलि रापै मंगना ॥२॥ Ḏīragẖ rog mitėh har a▫ukẖaḏẖ har nirmal rāpai mangnā. ||2|| The chronic diseases are cured by the medicine of the Lord's Name; I beg to be imbued with the Immaculate Lord. ||2|| ਮਾਗਉ ਜਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਉ ॥ मागउ जन धूरि परम गति पावउ ॥ Māga▫o jan ḏẖūr param gaṯ pāva▫o. I beg for the dust of the feet of the humble, that I may be blessed with the supreme status, ਸ੍ਰਵਣੀ ਸੁਣਉ ਬਿਮਲ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ स्रवणी सुणउ बिमल जसु सुआमी ॥ Sarvaṇī suṇa▫o bimal jas su▫āmī. With my ears, I listen to the Pure Praises of my Lord and Master. ਏਕਾ ਓਟ ਤਜਉ ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾਮੀ ॥ एका ओट तजउ बिखु कामी ॥ Ėkā ot ṯaja▫o bikẖ kāmī. With the Support of the One Lord, I have abandoned corruption, sexuality and desire. ਨਿਵਿ ਨਿਵਿ ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਦਾਸ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਗਨਾ ॥੩॥ निवि निवि पाइ लगउ दास तेरे करि सुक्रितु नाही संगना ॥३॥ Niv niv pā▫e laga▫o ḏās ṯere kar sukariṯ nāhī sangnā. ||3|| I humbly bow and fall at the feet of Your slaves; I do not hesitate to do good deeds. ||3|| ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ॥ रसना गुण गावै हरि तेरे ॥ Rasnā guṇ gāvai har ṯere. O Lord, with my tongue I sing Your Glorious Praises. ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਮਾਤੇ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ मिटहि कमाते अवगुण मेरे ॥ Mitėh kamāṯe avguṇ mere. The sins which I have committed are erased. ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਤਜਿ ਤੰਗਨਾ ॥੪॥ सिमरि सिमरि सुआमी मनु जीवै पंच दूत तजि तंगना ॥४॥ Simar simar su▫āmī man jīvai pancẖ ḏūṯ ṯaj ṯangnā. ||4|| Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my Lord and Master, my mind lives; I am rid of the five oppressive demons. ||4|| ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਤਰੀਐ ॥ संतसंगि मिलि सागरु तरीऐ ॥ Saṯsang mil sāgar ṯarī▫ai. Joining the Society of the Saints, I cross over the world-ocean. ਅਰਚਾ ਬੰਦਨ ਹਰਿ ਸਮਤ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਨੰਗਨਾ ॥੫॥ अरचा बंदन हरि समत निवासी बाहुड़ि जोनि न नंगना ॥५॥ Arcẖā banḏan har samaṯ nivāsī bāhuṛ jon na nangnā. ||5|| My flower-offering and worship is to realize that the Lord is dwelling alike in all; I shall not be reincarnated naked again. ||5|| ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਜਪਿ ਬੋਹਿਥਿ ਚਰੀਐ ॥ चरन कमल जपि बोहिथि चरीऐ ॥ Cẖaran kamal jap bohith cẖarī▫ai. Meditating on Your lotus feet, I have come aboard Your boat. ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥ दास दासन को करि लेहु गोपाला ॥ Ḏās ḏāsan ko kar leho gopālā. Please make me the slave of Your slaves, O Lord of the world. ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥ क्रिपा निधान दीन दइआला ॥ Kirpā niḏẖān ḏīn ḏa▫i▫ālā. You are the treasure of Grace, merciful to the meek. ਸਖਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਮਿਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਭੰਗਨਾ ॥੬॥ सखा सहाई पूरन परमेसुर मिलु कदे न होवी भंगना ॥६॥ Sakẖā sahā▫ī pūran parmesur mil kaḏe na hovī bẖangnā. ||6|| Meet with your companion and helper, the Perfect Transcendent Lord God; you shall never be separated from Him again. ||6|| ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਗੈ ॥ मनु तनु अरपि धरी हरि आगै ॥ Man ṯan arap ḏẖarī har āgai. I dedicate my mind and body, and place them in offering before the Lord. ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਜਾਗੈ ॥ जनम जनम का सोइआ जागै ॥ Janam janam kā so▫i▫ā jāgai. Asleep for countless lifetimes, I have awakened. ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਸੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਕੁ ਹਤਿ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੰਤਨਾ ॥੭॥ जिस का सा सोई प्रतिपालकु हति तिआगी हउमै हंतना ॥७॥ Jis kā sā so▫ī parṯipālak haṯ ṯi▫āgī ha▫umai hanṯnā. ||7|| He, to whom I belong, is my cherisher and nurturer. I have killed and discarded my murderous self-conceit. ||7|| ਭਰਮ ਭੀਤਿ ਖੋਈ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਰਬੰਗਨਾ ॥੮॥ भरम भीति खोई गुरि पूरै एकु रविआ सरबंगना ॥८॥ Bẖaram bẖīṯ kẖo▫ī gur pūrai ek ravi▫ā sarbangnā. ||8|| The Perfect Guru has demolished the wall of doubt, and now I see the One Lord pervading everywhere. ||8|| ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਅਛਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ घटि घटि रविआ अछल सुआमी ॥ Gẖat gẖat ravi▫ā acẖẖal su▫āmī. The undeceivable Lord and Master is permeating each and every heart. ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥ जलि थलि पूरन अंतरजामी ॥ Jal thal pūran anṯarjāmī. The Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is pervading the water and the land. ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ॥ जत कत पेखउ प्रभ सुख सागर ॥ Jaṯ kaṯ pekẖa▫o parabẖ sukẖ sāgar. Wherever I look, there I see God, the ocean of peace. ਹਰਿ ਤੋਟਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਤਨਾਗਰ ॥ हरि तोटि भंडार नाही रतनागर ॥ Har ṯot bẖandār nāhī raṯnāgar. The Lord's treasure is never exhausted; He is the storehouse of jewels. ਅਗਹ ਅਗਾਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪੰਗਨਾ ॥੯॥ अगह अगाह किछु मिति नही पाईऐ सो बूझै जिसु किरपंगना ॥९॥ Agah agāh kicẖẖ miṯ nahī pā▫ī▫ai so būjẖai jis kirpangnā. ||9|| He cannot be seized; He is inaccessible, and His limits cannot be found. He is realized when the Lord bestows His Grace. ||9|| ਛਾਤੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਠੰਢਾ ॥ छाती सीतल मनु तनु ठंढा ॥ Cẖẖāṯī sīṯal man ṯan ṯẖandẖā. My heart is cooled, and my mind and body are calmed and soothed. ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਕੀ ਮਿਟਵੀ ਡੰਝਾ ॥ जनम मरण की मिटवी डंझा ॥ Janam maraṇ kī mitvī danjẖā. The craving for birth and death is quenched. ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਅਮਿਓ ਧਾਰਿ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੦॥ करु गहि काढि लीए प्रभि अपुनै अमिओ धारि द्रिसटंगना ॥१०॥ Kar gėh kādẖ lī▫e parabẖ apunai ami▫o ḏẖār ḏaristangnā. ||10|| Grasping hold of my hand, He has lifted me up and out; He has blessed me with His Ambrosial Glance of Grace. ||10|| ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ॥ एको एकु रविआ सभ ठाई ॥ Ėko ek ravi▫ā sabẖ ṯẖā▫ī. The One and Only Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere. ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ तिसु बिनु दूजा कोई नाही ॥ Ŧis bin ḏūjā ko▫ī nāhī. There is none other than Him at all. ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਭਰਮੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੧॥ आदि मधि अंति प्रभु रविआ त्रिसन बुझी भरमंगना ॥११॥ Āḏ maḏẖ anṯ parabẖ ravi▫ā ṯarisan bujẖī bẖarmangnā. ||11|| God permeates the beginning, the middle and the end; He has subdued my desires and doubts. ||11|| ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥ गुरु परमेसरु गुरु गोबिंदु ॥ Gur parmesar gur gobinḏ. The Guru is the Transcendent Lord, the Guru is the Lord of the Universe. ਗੁਰ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ ਜਪਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੨॥ गुर जपु जापि जपत फलु पाइआ गिआन दीपकु संत संगना ॥१२॥ Gur jap jāp japaṯ fal pā▫i▫ā gi▫ān ḏīpak sanṯ sangnā. ||12|| Meditating, chanting the Guru's Chant, I have obtained the fruits and rewards; in the Company of the Saints, I have been blessed with the lamp of spiritual wisdom. ||12|| ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਦ ਬਖਸੰਦੁ ॥ गुरु करता गुरु सद बखसंदु ॥ Gur karṯā gur saḏ bakẖsanḏ. The Guru is the Creator, the Guru is forever forgiving. ਜੋ ਪੇਖਾ ਸੋ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥ जो पेखा सो सभु किछु सुआमी ॥ Jo pekẖā so sabẖ kicẖẖ su▫āmī. Whatever I see, is my Lord and Master God. ਜੋ ਸੁਨਣਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥ जो सुनणा सो प्रभ की बानी ॥ Jo sunṇā so parabẖ kī bānī. Whatever I hear, is the Bani of God's Word. ਜੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਸੋ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਕਰਾਇਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਸੰਤਹ ਤਨਾ ॥੧੩॥ जो कीनो सो तुमहि कराइओ सरणि सहाई संतह तना ॥१३॥ Jo kīno so ṯumėh karā▫i▫o saraṇ sahā▫ī sanṯėh ṯanā. ||13|| Whatever I do, You make me do; You are the Sanctuary, the help and support of the Saints, Your children. ||13|| ਜਾਚਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੈ ॥ जाचकु जाचै तुमहि अराधै ॥ Jācẖak jācẖai ṯumėh arāḏẖai. The beggar begs, and worships You in adoration. ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਧੈ ॥ पतित पावन पूरन प्रभ साधै ॥ Paṯiṯ pāvan pūran parabẖ sāḏẖai. You are the Purifier of the sinners, O Perfectly Holy Lord God. ਏਕੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਆਨ ਮੰਗਨ ਨਿਹਕਿੰਚਨਾ ॥੧੪॥ एको दानु सरब सुख गुण निधि आन मंगन निहकिंचना ॥१४॥ Ėko ḏān sarab sukẖ guṇ niḏẖ ān mangan nihkincẖnā. ||14|| Please bless me with this one gift, O treasure of all bliss and virtue; I do not ask for anything else. ||14|| ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਇ ਬਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਜੀਠੈ ਰੰਗਨਾ ॥੧੫॥ निरमल सोइ बणी हरि बाणी मनु नामि मजीठै रंगना ॥१५॥ Nirmal so▫e baṇī har baṇī man nām majīṯẖai rangnā. ||15|| Through the Word of the Lord's Bani, one's reputation becomes immaculate, and the mind is colored by the dye of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||15|| ਲਗੀ ਲਾਗਿ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗਾਰਾ ॥ लगी लागि संत संगारा ॥ Lagī lāg sanṯ sangārā. In the Society of the Saints, the dye is produced. ਕਾਇਆ ਪਾਤ੍ਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥ काइआ पात्रु प्रभु करणैहारा ॥ Kā▫i▫ā pāṯar parabẖ karnaihārā. God is the Creator of the body-vessel. ਸੋਲਹ ਕਲਾ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਫਲਿਆ ॥ सोलह कला स्मपूरन फलिआ ॥ Solah kalā sampūran fali▫ā. The sixteen powers, absolute perfection and fruitful rewards are obtained, ਅਨਤ ਕਲਾ ਹੋਇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਚੜਿਆ ॥ अनत कला होइ ठाकुरु चड़िआ ॥ Anaṯ kalā ho▫e ṯẖākur cẖaṛi▫ā. when the Lord and Master of infinite power is revealed. ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਭੁੰਚਨਾ ॥੧੬॥੨॥੯॥ अनद बिनोद हरि नामि सुख नानक अम्रित रसु हरि भुंचना ॥१६॥२॥९॥ Anaḏ binoḏ har nām sukẖ Nānak amriṯ ras har bẖuncẖanā. ||16||2||9|| The Lord's Name is Nanak's bliss, play and peace; he drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord. ||16||2||9||
