ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ. One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: ਮਾਰੂ ਸੋਲਹੇ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ मारू सोलहे महला ४ Mārū solhe mėhlā 4 Maaroo, Solahas, Fourth Mehl: ਅਵਰ ਨ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਬੀਜੀ ਕਾਰਾ ॥ अवर न सूझसि बीजी कारा ॥ Avar na sūjẖas bījī kārā. Do not consider any other work. ਸਚਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥ सचा आपि सवारणहारा ॥ Sacẖā āp savāraṇhārā. The Lord Himself is the One who exalts and embellishes. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ गुरमुखि सचु वसै घट अंतरि सहजे सचि समाई हे ॥१॥ Gurmukẖ sacẖ vasai gẖat anṯar sėhje sacẖ samā▫ī he. ||1|| The True Lord abides deep within the heart of the Gurmukh, who intuitively merges in the True Lord. ||1|| ਸਭਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ सभना सचु वसै मन माही ॥ Sabẖnā sacẖ vasai man māhī. The True Lord dwells within the minds of all. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥ गुर परसादी सहजि समाही ॥ Gur parsādī sahj samāhī. By Guru's Grace, they are intuitively absorbed in Him. ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ गुरु गुरु करत सदा सुखु पाइआ गुर चरणी चितु लाई हे ॥२॥ Gur gur karaṯ saḏā sukẖ pā▫i▫ā gur cẖarṇī cẖiṯ lā▫ī he. ||2|| Calling out, "Guru, Guru", I have found eternal peace; my consciousness is focused on the Guru's feet. ||2|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਪੂਜਾ ॥ सतिगुरु है गिआनु सतिगुरु है पूजा ॥ Saṯgur hai gi▫ān saṯgur hai pūjā. The True Guru is spiritual wisdom; the True Guru is worship and adoration. ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥ सतिगुरु सेवी अवरु न दूजा ॥ Saṯgur sevī avar na ḏūjā. I serve the True Guru, and no other. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਭਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ सतिगुर ते नामु रतन धनु पाइआ सतिगुर की सेवा भाई हे ॥३॥ Saṯgur ṯe nām raṯan ḏẖan pā▫i▫ā saṯgur kī sevā bẖā▫ī he. ||3|| From the True Guru, I have obtained the wealth, the jewel of the Naam. Service to the True Guru is pleasing to me. ||3|| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥ बिनु सतिगुर जो दूजै लागे ॥ Bin saṯgur jo ḏūjai lāge. Without the True Guru, those who are attached to duality ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ नानक तिन की फिरि गति होवै जि गुरमुखि रहहि सरणाई हे ॥४॥ Nānak ṯin kī fir gaṯ hovai jė gurmukẖ rahėh sarṇā▫ī he. ||4|| O Nanak, even after they are emancipated, those who become Gurmukh remain in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||4|| ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥ आवहि जाहि भ्रमि मरहि अभागे ॥ Āvahi jāhi bẖaram marėh abẖāge. come and go, and wander in reincarnation; these unfortunate ones die. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਾਚੀ ॥ गुरमुखि प्रीति सदा है साची ॥ Gurmukẖ parīṯ saḏā hai sācẖī. The love of the Gurmukh is forever true. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਜਾਚੀ ॥ सतिगुर ते मागउ नामु अजाची ॥ Saṯgur ṯe māga▫o nām ajācẖī. I beg for the invaluable Naam, the Name of the Lord, from the Guru. ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਖਿ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ होहु दइआलु क्रिपा करि हरि जीउ रखि लेवहु गुर सरणाई हे ॥५॥ Hohu ḏa▫i▫āl kirpā kar har jī▫o rakẖ levhu gur sarṇā▫ī he. ||5|| O Dear Lord, please be kind, and grant Your Grace; please keep me in the Guru's Sanctuary. ||5|| ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਚੁਆਇਆ ॥ अम्रित रसु सतिगुरू चुआइआ ॥ Amriṯ ras saṯgurū cẖu▫ā▫i▫ā. The True Guru trickles the Ambrosial Nectar into my mouth. ਦਸਵੈ ਦੁਆਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ਆਇਆ ॥ दसवै दुआरि प्रगटु होइ आइआ ॥ Ḏasvai ḏu▫ār pargat ho▫e ā▫i▫ā. My Tenth Gate has been opened and revealed. ਤਹ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਹਿ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥ तह अनहद सबद वजहि धुनि बाणी सहजे सहजि समाई हे ॥६॥ Ŧah anhaḏ sabaḏ vajėh ḏẖun baṇī sėhje sahj samā▫ī he. ||6|| The unstruck sound current of the Shabad vibrates and resounds there, with the melody of the Guru's Bani; one is easily, intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||6|| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕਰਤੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥ जिन कउ करतै धुरि लिखि पाई ॥ Jin ka▫o karṯai ḏẖur likẖ pā▫ī. Those who are so pre-ordained by the Creator, ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤ ਵਿਹਾਈ ॥ अनदिनु गुरु गुरु करत विहाई ॥ An▫ḏin gur gur karaṯ vihā▫ī. pass their nights and days calling on the Guru. ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਸੀਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ बिनु सतिगुर को सीझै नाही गुर चरणी चितु लाई हे ॥७॥ Bin saṯgur ko sījẖai nāhī gur cẖarṇī cẖiṯ lā▫ī he. ||7|| Without the True Guru, no one understands; focus your consciousness on the Guru's Feet. ||7|| ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ॥ जिसु भावै तिसु आपे देइ ॥ Jis bẖāvai ṯis āpe ḏe▫e. The Lord Himself blesses those with whom He is pleased. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲੇਇ ॥ गुरमुखि नामु पदारथु लेइ ॥ Gurmukẖ nām paḏārath le▫e. The Gurmukh receives the wealth of the Naam. ਆਪੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ आपे क्रिपा करे नामु देवै नानक नामि समाई हे ॥८॥ Āpe kirpā kare nām ḏevai Nānak nām samā▫ī he. ||8|| When the Lord grants His Grace, He bestows the Naam; Nanak is immersed and absorbed in the Naam. ||8|| ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ॥ गिआन रतनु मनि परगटु भइआ ॥ Gi▫ān raṯan man pargat bẖa▫i▫ā. The jewel of spiritual wisdom is revealed within the mind. ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਇਆ ॥ नामु पदारथु सहजे लइआ ॥ Nām paḏārath sėhje la▫i▫ā. The wealth of the Naam is easily, intuitively received. ਏਹ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ एह वडिआई गुर ते पाई सतिगुर कउ सद बलि जाई हे ॥९॥ Ėh vadi▫ā▫ī gur ṯe pā▫ī saṯgur ka▫o saḏ bal jā▫ī he. ||9|| This glorious greatness is obtained from the Guru; I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru. ||9|| ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਆ ਸੂਰੁ ਨਿਸਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਿਆਰਾ ॥ प्रगटिआ सूरु निसि मिटिआ अंधिआरा ॥ Pargati▫ā sūr nis miti▫ā anḏẖi▫ārā. With the rising of the sun, the darkness of the night is dispelled. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ सतिगुर गिआनु रतनु अति भारी करमि मिलै सुखु पाई हे ॥१०॥ Saṯgur gi▫ān raṯan aṯ bẖārī karam milai sukẖ pā▫ī he. ||10|| The True Guru is the fantastically valuable jewel of spiritual wisdom; blessed by God's Mercy, peace is found. ||10|| ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਰਤਨਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥ अगिआनु मिटिआ गुर रतनि अपारा ॥ Agi▫ān miti▫ā gur raṯan apārā. Spiritual ignorance is eradicated, by the priceless jewel of the Guru. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਹੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ गुरमुखि नामु प्रगटी है सोइ ॥ Gurmukẖ nām pargatī hai so▫e. The Gurmukh obtains the Naam, and his good reputation increases. ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਛਾ ਲੋਇ ॥ चहु जुगि निरमलु हछा लोइ ॥ Cẖahu jug nirmal hacẖẖā lo▫e. In all four ages he is considered to be pure and good. ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ नामे नामि रते सुखु पाइआ नामि रहिआ लिव लाई हे ॥११॥ Nāme nām raṯe sukẖ pā▫i▫ā nām rahi▫ā liv lā▫ī he. ||11|| Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he finds peace. He remains lovingly focused on the Naam. ||11|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ॥ गुरमुखि नामु परापति होवै ॥ Gurmukẖ nām parāpaṯ hovai. The Gurmukh receives the Naam. ਸਹਜੇ ਜਾਗੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਸੋਵੈ ॥ सहजे जागै सहजे सोवै ॥ Sėhje jāgai sėhje sovai. In intuitive peace he wakes, and in intuitive peace he sleeps. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥ गुरमुखि नामि समाइ समावै नानक नामु धिआई हे ॥१२॥ Gurmukẖ nām samā▫e samāvai Nānak nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī he. ||12|| The Gurmukh is immersed and absorbed in the Naam; Nanak meditates on the Naam. ||12|| ਭਗਤਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ भगता मुखि अम्रित है बाणी ॥ Bẖagṯā mukẖ amriṯ hai baṇī. The Ambrosial Nectar of the Guru's Bani is in the mouth of the devotees. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥ हरि हरि करत सदा मनु बिगसै हरि चरणी मनु लाई हे ॥१३॥ Har har karaṯ saḏā man bigsai har cẖarṇī man lā▫ī he. ||13|| Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, their minds forever blossom forth; they focus their minds on the Lord's Feet. ||13|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥ गुरमुखि हरि नामु आखि वखाणी ॥ Gurmukẖ har nām ākẖ vakẖāṇī. The Gurmukhs chant and repeat the Lord's Name. ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ हम मूरख अगिआन गिआनु किछु नाही ॥ Ham mūrakẖ agi▫ān gi▫ān kicẖẖ nāhī. I am foolish and ignorant; I have no wisdom at all. ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਪੜੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥ सतिगुर ते समझ पड़ी मन माही ॥ Saṯgur ṯe samajẖ paṛī man māhī. From the True Guru, I have obtained understanding in my mind. ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ होहु दइआलु क्रिपा करि हरि जीउ सतिगुर की सेवा लाई हे ॥१४॥ Hohu ḏa▫i▫āl kirpā kar har jī▫o saṯgur kī sevā lā▫ī he. ||14|| O Dear Lord, please be kind to me, and grant Your Grace; let me be committed to serving the True Guru. ||14|| ਜਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ जिनि सतिगुरु जाता तिनि एकु पछाता ॥ Jin saṯgur jāṯā ṯin ek pacẖẖāṯā. Those who know the True Guru realize the One Lord. ਸਰਬੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥ सरबे रवि रहिआ सुखदाता ॥ Sarbe rav rahi▫ā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa. The Giver of peace is all-pervading, permeating everywhere. ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥ आतमु चीनि परम पदु पाइआ सेवा सुरति समाई हे ॥१५॥ Āṯam cẖīn param paḏ pā▫i▫ā sevā suraṯ samā▫ī he. ||15|| Understanding my own soul, I have obtained the Supreme Status; my awareness is immersed in selfless service. ||15|| ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਆਦਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥ जिन कउ आदि मिली वडिआई ॥ Jin ka▫o āḏ milī vadi▫ā▫ī. Those who are blessed with glorious greatness by the Primal Lord God ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥ सतिगुरु मनि वसिआ लिव लाई ॥ Saṯgur man vasi▫ā liv lā▫ī. are lovingly focused on the True Guru, who dwells within their minds. ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥ आपि मिलिआ जगजीवनु दाता नानक अंकि समाई हे ॥१६॥१॥ Āp mili▫ā jagjīvan ḏāṯā Nānak ank samā▫ī he. ||16||1|| The Giver of life to the world Himself meets them; O Nanak, they are absorbed in His Being. ||16||1|| ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥ हरि अगम अगोचरु सदा अबिनासी ॥ Har agam agocẖar saḏā abẖināsī. The Lord is inaccessible and unfathomable; He is eternal and imperishable. ਸਰਬੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ॥ सरबे रवि रहिआ घट वासी ॥ Sarbe rav rahi▫ā gẖat vāsī. He dwells in the heart, and is all-pervading, permeating everywhere.
