ਕਾਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ
काइआ कंचनु सबदु वीचारा ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kancẖan sabaḏ vīcẖārā.
Contemplating the Word of the Shabad, the body becomes golden.

Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
अनदिनु हरि सेविहु सची बाणी हरि जीउ सबदि मिलाइदा ॥१॥
An▫ḏin har sevihu sacẖī baṇī har jī▫o sabaḏ milā▫iḏā. ||1||
Night and day, serve the Lord, and chant the True Word of the Guru's Bani. Through the Shabad, meet the Dear Lord. ||1||

ਤਿਥੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ
तिथै हरि वसै जिस दा अंतु न पारावारा ॥
Ŧithai har vasai jis ḏā anṯ na pārāvārā.
The Lord abides there; He has no end or limitation.

ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਉ
हरि चेतहि तिन बलिहारै जाउ ॥
Har cẖīṯėh ṯin balihārai jā▫o.
I am a sacrifice to those who remember the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਿਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ
गुर कै सबदि तिन मेलि मिलाउ ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ ṯin mel milā▫o.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, I unite in Union with the Lord.

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਲਾਈ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
तिन की धूरि लाई मुखि मसतकि सतसंगति बहि गुण गाइदा ॥२॥
Ŧin kī ḏẖūr lā▫ī mukẖ masṯak saṯsangaṯ bahi guṇ gā▫iḏā. ||2||
I touch the dust of their feet to my face and forehead; sitting in the Society of the Saints, I sing His Glorious Praises. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਾ
हरि के गुण गावा जे हरि प्रभ भावा ॥
Har ke guṇ gāvā je har parabẖ bẖāvā.
I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, as I am pleasing to the Lord God.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ
अंतरि हरि नामु सबदि सुहावा ॥
Anṯar har nām sabaḏ suhāvā.
With the Lord's Name deep within my inner being, I am adorned with the Word of the Shabad.

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਡੀ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥
गुरबाणी चहु कुंडी सुणीऐ साचै नामि समाइदा ॥३॥
Gurbāṇī cẖahu kundī suṇī▫ai sācẖai nām samā▫iḏā. ||3||
The Word of the Guru's Bani is heard throughout the four corners of the world; through it, we merge in the True Name. ||3||

ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਿ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਭਾਲੇ
सो जनु साचा जि अंतरु भाले ॥
So jan sācẖā jė anṯar bẖāle.
That humble being is pure, who searches within himself,

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ
गुर कै सबदि हरि नदरि निहाले ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ har naḏar nihāle.
through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, sees the Lord with his eyes.

ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥
गिआन अंजनु पाए गुर सबदी नदरी नदरि मिलाइदा ॥४॥
Gi▫ān anjan pā▫e gur sabḏī naḏrī naḏar milā▫iḏā. ||4||
Through the Guru's Shabad, he applies the ointment of spiritual wisdom to his eyes; the Gracious Lord, in His Grace, unites him with Himself. ||4||

ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ
माणस जनमि सबदि चितु लाइआ ॥
Māṇas janam sabaḏ cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā.
in this human life, I have focused my consciousness on the Word of the Shabad.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸਭੁ ਅੰਧ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥
बिनु सबदै सभु अंध अंधेरा गुरमुखि किसहि बुझाइदा ॥५॥
Bin sabḏai sabẖ anḏẖ anḏẖerā gurmukẖ kisėh bujẖā▫iḏā. ||5||
Without the Shabad, everything is enveloped in utter darkness; only the Gurmukh understands. ||5||

ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ
वडै भागि इहु सरीरु पाइआ ॥
vadai bẖāg ih sarīr pā▫i▫ā.
By great good fortune, I obtained this body;

ਇਕਿ ਕਿਤੁ ਆਏ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਏ
इकि कितु आए जनमु गवाए ॥
Ik kiṯ ā▫e janam gavā▫e.
Some merely waste away their lives - why have they even come into the world?

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਲਾਗੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਏ
मनमुख लागे दूजै भाए ॥
Manmukẖ lāge ḏūjai bẖā▫e.
The self-willed manmukhs are attached to the love of duality.

ਏਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਾਥਿ ਆਵੈ ਪਗਿ ਖਿਸਿਐ ਪਛੁਤਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
एह वेला फिरि हाथि न आवै पगि खिसिऐ पछुताइदा ॥६॥
Ėh velā fir hāth na āvai pag kẖisi▫ai pacẖẖuṯā▫iḏā. ||6||
This opportunity shall not into their hands again; their foot slips, and they come to regret and repent. ||6||

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ
गुर कै सबदि पवित्रु सरीरा ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ paviṯar sarīrā.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the body is sanctified.

ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ
तिसु विचि वसै सचु गुणी गहीरा ॥
Ŧis vicẖ vasai sacẖ guṇī gahīrā.
The True Lord, the ocean of virtue, dwells within it.

ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਭ ਥਾਈ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
सचो सचु वेखै सभ थाई सचु सुणि मंनि वसाइदा ॥७॥
Sacẖo sacẖ vekẖai sabẖ thā▫ī sacẖ suṇ man vasā▫iḏā. ||7||
One who sees the Truest of the True everywhere, hears the Truth, and enshrines it within his mind. ||7||

ਹਉਮੈ ਗਣਤ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ
हउमै गणत गुर सबदि निवारे ॥
Ha▫umai gaṇaṯ gur sabaḏ nivāre.
Egotism and mental calculations are relieved through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ
हरि जीउ हिरदै रखहु उर धारे ॥
Har jī▫o hirḏai rakẖahu ur ḏẖāre.
Keep the Dear Lord close, and enshrine Him in your heart.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
गुर कै सबदि सदा सालाहे मिलि साचे सुखु पाइदा ॥८॥
Gur kai sabaḏ saḏā sālāhe mil sācẖe sukẖ pā▫iḏā. ||8||
One who praises the Lord forever, through the Guru's Shabad, meets with the True Lord, and finds peace. ||8||

ਸੋ ਚੇਤੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਚੇਤਾਏ
सो चेते जिसु आपि चेताए ॥
So cẖeṯe jis āp cẖeṯā▫e.
He alone remembers the Lord, whom the Lord inspires to remember.

ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਬੂਝੈ ਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥
आपे वेखै आपे बूझै आपै आपु समाइदा ॥९॥
Āpe vekẖai āpe būjẖai āpai āp samā▫iḏā. ||9||
He Himself sees, and He Himself understands; He merges all into Himself. ||9||

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ
गुर कै सबदि वसै मनि आए ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ vasai man ā▫e.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, He comes to dwell in the mind.

ਜਿਨਿ ਮਨ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਥੁ ਪਾਈ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ
जिनि मन विचि वथु पाई सोई जाणै ॥
Jin man vicẖ vath pā▫ī so▫ī jāṇai.
He alone knows, who has placed the object within his mind.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ
गुर कै सबदे आपु पछाणै ॥
Gur kai sabḏe āp pacẖẖāṇai.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he comes to understand himself.

ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
आपु पछाणै सोई जनु निरमलु बाणी सबदु सुणाइदा ॥१०॥
Āp pacẖẖāṇai so▫ī jan nirmal baṇī sabaḏ suṇā▫iḏā. ||10||
That humble being who understands himself is immaculate. He proclaims the Guru's Bani, and the Word of the Shabad. ||10||

ਏਹ ਕਾਇਆ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਰੀਰੁ
एह काइआ पवितु है सरीरु ॥
Ėh kā▫i▫ā paviṯ hai sarīr.
This body is sanctified and purified;

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਚੇਤੈ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰੁ
गुर सबदी चेतै गुणी गहीरु ॥
Gur sabḏī cẖeṯai guṇī gahīr.
through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it contemplates the Lord, the ocean of virtue.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਗੁਣ ਕਹਿ ਗੁਣੀ ਸਮਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
अनदिनु गुण गावै रंगि राता गुण कहि गुणी समाइदा ॥११॥
An▫ḏin guṇ gāvai rang rāṯā guṇ kahi guṇī samā▫iḏā. ||11||
One who chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord night and day, and remains attuned to His Love, chants His Glorious Virtues, immersed in the Glorious Lord. ||11||

ਏਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਭ ਮੂਲੁ ਹੈ ਮਾਇਆ
एहु सरीरु सभ मूलु है माइआ ॥
Ėhu sarīr sabẖ mūl hai mā▫i▫ā.
This body is the source of all Maya;

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ
दूजै भाइ भरमि भुलाइआ ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e bẖaram bẖulā▫i▫ā.
in love with duality, it is deluded by doubt.

ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤੈ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤੇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
हरि न चेतै सदा दुखु पाए बिनु हरि चेते दुखु पाइदा ॥१२॥
Har na cẖeṯai saḏā ḏukẖ pā▫e bin har cẖeṯe ḏukẖ pā▫iḏā. ||12||
It does not remember the Lord, and suffers in eternal pain. Without remembering the Lord, it suffers in pain. ||12||

ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
जि सतिगुरु सेवे सो परवाणु ॥
Jė saṯgur seve so parvāṇ.
One who serves the True Guru is approved and respected.

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਸੋਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
हरि सेवे हरि मंनि वसाए सोहै हरि गुण गाइदा ॥१३॥
Har seve har man vasā▫e sohai har guṇ gā▫iḏā. ||13||
He serves the Lord, and enshrines the Lord in his mind; he is exalted, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||13||

ਕਾਇਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਜਾਣੁ
काइआ हंसु निरमलु दरि सचै जाणु ॥
Kā▫i▫ā hans nirmal ḏar sacẖai jāṇ.
His body and soul-swan are immaculate and pure; in the Court of the Lord, he is known to be true.

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਾਗਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ
बिनु भागा गुरु सेविआ न जाइ ॥
Bin bẖāgā gur sevi▫ā na jā▫e.
Without good destiny, no one can serve the True Guru.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ
मनमुख भूले मुए बिललाइ ॥
Manmukẖ bẖūle mu▫e billā▫e.
The self-willed manmukhs are deluded, and die weeping and wailing.

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੇਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
जिन कउ नदरि होवै गुर केरी हरि जीउ आपि मिलाइदा ॥१४॥
Jin ka▫o naḏar hovai gur kerī har jī▫o āp milā▫iḏā. ||14||
Those who are blessed by the Guru's Glance of Grace - the Dear Lord unites them with Himself. ||14||

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੋਟੁ ਪਕੇ ਹਟਨਾਲੇ
काइआ कोटु पके हटनाले ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kot pake hatnāle.
In the body fortress, are the solidly-constructed markets.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲੇਵੈ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ
गुरमुखि लेवै वसतु समाले ॥
Gurmukẖ levai vasaṯ samāle.
The Gurmukh purchases the object, and takes care of it.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਊਤਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
हरि का नामु धिआइ दिनु राती ऊतम पदवी पाइदा ॥१५॥
Har kā nām ḏẖi▫ā▫e ḏin rāṯī ūṯam paḏvī pā▫iḏā. ||15||
Meditating on the Name of the Lord, day and night, he attains the sublime, exalted status. ||15||

ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਹੈ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ
आपे सचा है सुखदाता ॥
Āpe sacẖā hai sukẖ▫ḏāṯa.
The True Lord Himself is the Giver of peace.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ
पूरे गुर कै सबदि पछाता ॥
Pūre gur kai sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.
Through the Shabad of the Perfect Guru, He is realized.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੭॥੨੧॥
नानक नामु सलाहे साचा पूरै भागि को पाइदा ॥१६॥७॥२१॥
Nānak nām salāhe sācẖā pūrai bẖāg ko pā▫iḏā. ||16||7||21||
Nanak praises the Naam, the True Name of the Lord; through perfect destiny, He is found. ||16||7||21||
