ਸਚੈ ਸਚਾ ਤਖਤੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥ सचै सचा तखतु रचाइआ ॥ Sacẖai sacẖā ṯakẖaṯ racẖā▫i▫ā. The True Lord has established the Throne of Truth. ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥ मारू महला ३ ॥ Mārū mėhlā 3. Maaroo, Third Mehl: ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥ सद ही साचु वसिआ घट अंतरि गुरमुखि करणी सारी हे ॥१॥ Saḏ hī sācẖ vasi▫ā gẖat anṯar gurmukẖ karṇī sārī he. ||1|| The True Lord dwells deep within the nucleus of the Gurmukh's heart forever; his actions are excellent. ||1|| ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਿਥੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ निज घरि वसिआ तिथै मोहु न माइआ ॥ Nij gẖar vasi▫ā ṯithai moh na mā▫i▫ā. He dwells in His own home deep within the self, where there is no emotional attachment to Maya. ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥ सचा सउदा सचु वापारा ॥ Sacẖā sa▫uḏā sacẖ vāpārā. True is his merchandise, and true is his trade. ਨ ਤਿਥੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥ न तिथै भरमु न दूजा पसारा ॥ Na ṯithai bẖaram na ḏūjā pasārā. There is no doubt within him, and no expanse of duality. ਸਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਕਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੨॥ सचा धनु खटिआ कदे तोटि न आवै बूझै को वीचारी हे ॥२॥ Sacẖā ḏẖan kẖati▫ā kaḏe ṯot na āvai būjẖai ko vīcẖārī he. ||2|| He has earned the true wealth, which is never exhausted. How few are those who contemplate this, and understand. ||2|| ਸਚੈ ਲਾਏ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥ सचै लाए से जन लागे ॥ Sacẖai lā▫e se jan lāge. They alone are attached to the True Name, whom the Lord Himself attaches. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥ अंतरि सबदु मसतकि वडभागे ॥ Anṯar sabaḏ masṯak vadbẖāge. The Word of the Shabad is deep within the nucleus of the self; good fortune is recorded upon their foreheads. ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੩॥ सचै सबदि सदा गुण गावहि सबदि रते वीचारी हे ॥३॥ Sacẖai sabaḏ saḏā guṇ gāvahi sabaḏ raṯe vīcẖārī he. ||3|| Through the True Word of the Shabad, they sing the True Praises of the Lord; they are attuned to contemplative meditation on the Shabad. ||3|| ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥ सचो सचा सचु सालाही ॥ Sacẖo sacẖā sacẖ sālāhī. I praise the True Lord, the Truest of the True. ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥ एको वेखा दूजा नाही ॥ Ėko vekẖā ḏūjā nāhī. I see the One Lord, and no other. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਊਚੋ ਊਚੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੪॥ गुरमति ऊचो ऊची पउड़ी गिआनि रतनि हउमै मारी हे ॥४॥ Gurmaṯ ūcẖo ūcẖī pa▫oṛī gi▫ān raṯan ha▫umai mārī he. ||4|| The Guru's Teachings are the ladder to reach the highest of the high. the jewel of spiritual wisdom conquers egotism. ||4|| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥ माइआ मोहु सबदि जलाइआ ॥ Mā▫i▫ā moh sabaḏ jalā▫i▫ā. Emotional attachment to Maya is burnt away by the Word of the Shabad. ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ सचु मनि वसिआ जा तुधु भाइआ ॥ Sacẖ man vasi▫ā jā ṯuḏẖ bẖā▫i▫ā. The True One comes to dwell in the mind, when it pleases You, O Lord. ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸਚੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੫॥ सचे की सभ सची करणी हउमै तिखा निवारी हे ॥५॥ Sacẖe kī sabẖ sacẖī karṇī ha▫umai ṯikẖā nivārī he. ||5|| True are all the actions of the truthful; the thirst of egotism is subdued. ||5|| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਨਾ ॥ माइआ मोहु सभु आपे कीना ॥ Mā▫i▫ā moh sabẖ āpe kīnā. All by Himself, God created emotional attachment to Maya. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਚੀਨਾ ॥ गुरमुखि विरलै किन ही चीना ॥ Gurmukẖ virlai kin hī cẖīnā. How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize the Lord. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੬॥ गुरमुखि होवै सु सचु कमावै साची करणी सारी हे ॥६॥ Gurmukẖ hovai so sacẖ kamāvai sācẖī karṇī sārī he. ||6|| One who becomes Gurmukh practices Truth; true and excellent are his actions. ||6|| ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੭॥ गुरमति सद ही अंतरु सीतलु हउमै मारि निवारी हे ॥७॥ Gurmaṯ saḏ hī anṯar sīṯal ha▫umai mār nivārī he. ||7|| Following the Guru's Teachings, he remains forever cool and calm deep within; he conquers and subdues his ego. ||7|| ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ॥ कार कमाई जो मेरे प्रभ भाई ॥ Kār kamā▫ī jo mere parabẖ bẖā▫ī. He does those deeds which are pleasing to my God; ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥ हउमै त्रिसना सबदि बुझाई ॥ Ha▫umai ṯarisnā sabaḏ bujẖā▫ī. through the Shabad, he burns away egotism and the thirst of desire. ਸਚਿ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥ सचि लगे तिन सभु किछु भावै ॥ Sacẖ lage ṯin sabẖ kicẖẖ bẖāvai. Those who are attached to the Truth are pleased with everything. ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਚਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥ सचै सबदे सचि सुहावै ॥ Sacẖai sabḏe sacẖ suhāvai. They are embellished with the True Word of the Shabad. ਐਥੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੮॥ ऐथै साचे से दरि साचे नदरी नदरि सवारी हे ॥८॥ Aithai sācẖe se ḏar sācẖe naḏrī naḏar savārī he. ||8|| Those who are true in this world, are true in the Court of the Lord. The Merciful Lord adorns them with His Mercy. ||8|| ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥ बिनु साचे जो दूजै लाइआ ॥ Bin sācẖe jo ḏūjai lā▫i▫ā. Those who are attached to duality, and not the Truth, ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥ माइआ मोह दुख सबाइआ ॥ Mā▫i▫ā moh ḏukẖ sabā▫i▫ā. are trapped in emotional attachment to Maya; they totally suffer in pain. ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੯॥ बिनु गुर दुखु सुखु जापै नाही माइआ मोह दुखु भारी हे ॥९॥ Bin gur ḏukẖ sukẖ jāpai nāhī mā▫i▫ā moh ḏukẖ bẖārī he. ||9|| Without the Guru, they do not understand pain and pleasure; attached to Maya, they suffer in terrible pain. ||9|| ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ साचा सबदु जिना मनि भाइआ ॥ Sācẖā sabaḏ jinā man bẖā▫i▫ā. Those whose minds are pleased with the True Word of the Shabad ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥ पूरबि लिखिआ तिनी कमाइआ ॥ Pūrab likẖi▫ā ṯinī kamā▫i▫ā. act according to pre-ordained destiny. ਸਚੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥ सचो सेवहि सचु धिआवहि सचि रते वीचारी हे ॥१०॥ Sacẖo sevėh sacẖ ḏẖi▫āvahi sacẖ raṯe vīcẖārī he. ||10|| They serve the True Lord, and meditate on the True Lord; they are imbued with contemplative meditation on the True Lord. ||10|| ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੀਠੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ गुर की सेवा मीठी लागी ॥ Gur kī sevā mīṯẖī lāgī. Service to the Guru seems sweet to them. ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧੀ ॥ अनदिनु सूख सहज समाधी ॥ An▫ḏin sūkẖ sahj samāḏẖī. Night and day, they are intuitively immersed in celestial peace. ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥ हरि हरि करतिआ मनु निरमलु होआ गुर की सेव पिआरी हे ॥११॥ Har har karṯi▫ā man nirmal ho▫ā gur kī sev pi▫ārī he. ||11|| Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, their minds become immaculate; they love to serve the Guru. ||11|| ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਲਾਏ ॥ से जन सुखीए सतिगुरि सचे लाए ॥ Se jan sukẖī▫e saṯgur sacẖe lā▫e. Those humble beings are at peace, whom the True Guru attaches to the Truth. ਆਪੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥ आपे भाणे आपि मिलाए ॥ Āpe bẖāṇe āp milā▫e. He Himself, in His Will, merges them into Himself. ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥ सतिगुरि राखे से जन उबरे होर माइआ मोह खुआरी हे ॥१२॥ Saṯgur rākẖe se jan ubre hor mā▫i▫ā moh kẖu▫ārī he. ||12|| Those humble beings, whom the True Guru protects, are saved. The rest are ruined through emotional attachment to Maya. ||12|| ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥ गुरमुखि साचा सबदि पछाता ॥ Gurmukẖ sācẖā sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā. The Gurmukh realizes the True Word of the Shabad. ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਤਾ ॥ ना तिसु कुट्मबु ना तिसु माता ॥ Nā ṯis kutamb nā ṯis māṯā. He has no family, and he has no mother. ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥ एको एकु रविआ सभ अंतरि सभना जीआ का आधारी हे ॥१३॥ Ėko ek ravi▫ā sabẖ anṯar sabẖnā jī▫ā kā āḏẖārī he. ||13|| The One and Only Lord is pervading and permeating deep within the nucleus of all. He is the Support of all beings. ||13|| ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਖਸਮਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ किछु न चलै धुरि खसमि लिखि पाइआ ॥ Kicẖẖ na cẖalai ḏẖur kẖasam likẖ pā▫i▫ā. none of these shall go along with you; such is the pre-ordained will of our Lord and Master. ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥ हउमै मेरा दूजा भाइआ ॥ Ha▫umai merā ḏūjā bẖā▫i▫ā. Egotism, possessiveness, and the love of duality - ਗੁਰ ਸਾਚੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥ गुर साचे ते साचु कमावहि साचै दूख निवारी हे ॥१४॥ Gur sācẖe ṯe sācẖ kamāvėh sācẖai ḏūkẖ nivārī he. ||14|| Through the True Guru, practice Truth, and the True Lord shall take away your pains. ||14|| ਜਾ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ जा तू देहि सदा सुखु पाए ॥ Jā ṯū ḏėh saḏā sukẖ pā▫e. If You so bless me, then I shall find lasting peace. ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥ साचै सबदे साचु कमाए ॥ Sācẖai sabḏe sācẖ kamā▫e. Through the True Word of the Shabad, I live the Truth. ਅੰਦਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥ अंदरु साचा मनु तनु साचा भगति भरे भंडारी हे ॥१५॥ Anḏar sācẖā man ṯan sācẖā bẖagaṯ bẖare bẖandārī he. ||15|| The True Lord is within me, and my mind and body have become True. I am blessed with the overflowing treasure of devotional worship. ||15|| ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ॥ आपे वेखै हुकमि चलाए ॥ Āpe vekẖai hukam cẖalā▫e. He Himself watches, and issues His Command. ਅਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥ अपणा भाणा आपि कराए ॥ Apṇā bẖāṇā āp karā▫e. He Himself inspires us to obey His Will. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੭॥ नानक नामि रते बैरागी मनु तनु रसना नामि सवारी हे ॥१६॥७॥ Nānak nām raṯe bairāgī man ṯan rasnā nām savārī he. ||16||7|| O Nanak, only those who are attuned to the Naam are detached; their minds, bodies and tongues are embellished with the Naam. ||16||7||
