ਸੰ. ਜਲੌਕਾ. (leech). ਨਾਮ/n. ਪਾਣੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਮੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਕੀੜਾ, ਜੋ ਥੈਲੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ. ਇਹ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨਾਲ ਚਿਮਟਕੇ ਲਹੂ ਚੂਸਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ. ਬਹੁਤ ਲੋਕ ਗੰਦਾ ਲਹੂ ਕੱਢਣ ਲਈ ਜੋਕਾਂ ਲਗਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ. ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਕ੍ਤਪਾ, ਵਮਨੀ, ਵੇਧਿਨੀ ਆਦਿ ਭੀ ਹਨ. “ਜਿਉ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਤਨਿ ਜੋਕ.” (ਸਾਰ ਸੂਰਦਾਸ) ਭਾਵ- ਬਹੁਤ ਗੰਦਾ ਲਹੂ ਜੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ. Footnotes:
